Bottle: dry, woody, earthy Wet: dry cedar and leaves, the vetiver isn’t too smoky Dry: this sweetens a little as it dries A straightforward wood blend, the subtle sweetness is a nice touch.

    Bloodlust

Bottle: dry, dusty, earth & wood Wet: the dragon’s blood comes out, the cinnamon gets a little sharp here Dry: sharp edge over earth woods and smoke Fits the name very well and the cinnamon and dragon’s blood are a nice touch to the earth and woods.

    Burial

Bottle: Earth with a capital E Wet: cleaning solution spilled on earth, probably the pine Dry: thankfully that fades quickly, leaving the Earth notes predominant This is almost overwhelmingly earthy on my skin, earthy, mossy, a little dusty, dry wood, it smells great on a rainy day, but may be too much for me on a day to day basis.

    Intrigue

Bottle: sweet fig and cocoa Wet: a hint of woods with sweet fig and cocoa Dry: dries down to a sweet slightly wood cocoa Not as woody as Velvet and sweeter than that blend, warm and lovely.

Bottle: sea air Wet: salty sea air, masculine, a little spice underneath Dry: wood, musk, spice, mostly aquatic a little leather Aquatics don’t usually work on me, and this is definitely an aquatic blend. Some nice undertones going on, but not for me.

    Brown Jenkin

Bottle: earthy and warm Wet: a little sharpness, not exactly sure what that is, but the bite fits the name Dry: the sandalwood comes out, the coconut almost smells like hazelnut On me, this blend is suprisingly warm, foody, and comforting.

    The Emathides

Bottle: almost like cocoa, with the currant and the amber Wet: This scent smells purple to me, but not grape purple, closer to a brownish purple, smooth warm slightly sweet, someone described it as caramelized and I agree Dry: lovely warm round sweet, excellently blended, slightly foody, definitely currant, violet, amber, just a hint of lavender, cedar undertone, hardly any rose at all. This scent is gorgeous and feels to be in the same family as Morocco and Eclipse, without the almond, but with that sense of roundness that almond gives. Velvety.

    Singing Moon

Bottle: green, rainy, floral Wet: rainy floral with a bit of an herbal undertone Dry: continues with the rainy green, it reminds me of the Waterhouse painting of the Tempest character, Miranda. This blend is soft, round, and sweet, like grass in the rain, definitely wistful, but not sharp or dusty. Beautiful longing.

    Thirteen (13): July 2007

Bottle: cocoa and sweet fruit Wet: cocoa, vanilla, honey, sweet fruit Dry: the best chocolate baked good ever This scent is interesting, as the honey and peach combo were threatening to be too sweet on me, and the peach note is always a little iffy on my skin, but in this blend they don't ever get there balanced by the darkness of the cocoa and the spices of the ginger and clove, ending up with a delicious cocoa, honey, vanilla, spice blend. It's sensuous and slightly exotic. eta: spelling

    Lysander

Bottle: lime, something herbal almost licorice like Wet: masculine, lime, but there’s something that reminds me of an herbal compress Dry: old fashioned talc Hmmmm. My chemistry morphed this into a blend of old dry herbs and talc. Off to the swaps pile.

    Robin Goodfellow

Bottle: musk and earthy greens Wet: masculine musk, a little incensey, a little sweet, greens Dry: this reminds a little of Coyote, but more forest This scent doesn’t change much throughout and is a very pleasant light masculine scent, slightly earthy, slightly incensey, green, and a definite musk overtone without smelling dirty, it’s more of a natural, clean skin musk.

    Vinland

Bottle: sweet loganberry layered over a slightly earthy base Wet: the loganberry is interesting, this blend reminds me a little of Bewitched, the sweetness is nicely balanced with the other notes, it smells clean, clear, not sharp or powdery Dry: it almost reminds me of apples, or a certain plant heated by the sun that gets that warm sweetness, light, not cloying, at this stage it reminds me a little of Muse. This is an interesting scent, the herbal/earth hints are very nice, they aren’t dirty notes, this blend is very clear, but warm, a mountain meadow warmed by the sun, it’s light and lovely without being sharp. Sweet in a gentle way. Golden.

    Obatala

Bottle: the best coconut cookies ever Wet: a yummy shea butter base under delicious coconut and a soft sweetness Dry: the soft sweetness must be the cool water, it’s blended perfectly with the other notes, not powdery, not dry, not musty or cloying, just straight sweet comfort This scent just makes me so happy. And it’s on its happy way to being a favorite. It smells to me like being wrapped in a soft, clean blanket, enjoying coconut cookies.

    Fairy Market

Bottle: sweet green, grass, reminds me of my beloved Hungry Ghost Moon Wet: Sweet green grass, a little candy sweetness but not sticky sweet, just light sweet, a little incense Dry: it feels blue and green, like a summer night on the lawn, the lavender is faint but present, sweet vanilla and that mysterious hint of green Beautiful scent, lightly sweet, I loved getting whiffs of this scent through the night. It’s a perfect scent for the summer and is the first Fairy themed BPAL scent that I can wear.

    Neo-Tokyo

Bottle: crisp bamboo, citrus, floral Wet: there is definitely a crispness to this blend, metallic, but not too sharp of a metallic, the fruit is barely there, right now this is mostly a crisp green bamboo, metallic, ozone, with the tiniest hint of the sweetness of the fruit and the cherry blossoms Dry: sweetens as it dries, fruit, cherry blossoms and the orchid come to the front as the metallics fade This is a great scent for hot summer days. When I first tried this in the spring, I liked this better on me as it dried, as ozone and metallic scents don’t usually fit my personality very well, but as the weather got hotter and I was the mood for something that smelled green, this was perfect. It’s elegant, sophisticated, but not too sharp.

Bottle: mostly lemon verbena Wet: gorgeously light citrusy lemon verbena, with a hint of green tea, this is lovely, refreshing Dry: it fades to a very light, gentle, honeysuckle and tea with a hint of lemon This is great scent for spring and summer, delicate, clean, refreshing, reminds me of sipping lemonade on a sunny day, surrounded by honeysuckle.

    Follow Me Boy

Bottle: jasmine and voodoo base Wet: jasmine, that slightly incensey, mossy, horehound candy voodoo base Dry: predominantly jasmine This is a lot jasmine, but the sexy, spicy, voodoo base, common to the other voodoo blends I have tried, gives it a nice earthy quality

    Midnight

Bottle: amazingly complex floral Wet: I can’t pick out separate notes, but there is a subtle sweet spicy roundness that grounds this floral Dry: round vanilla spice, I want to say that’s the nicotiana, blended beautifully with the florals This is an amazing blend, not what I expect in a typical floral perfume, mysterious, definitely a night garden, I love to wear this on warm evenings when all is in bloom, it’s elegant and complex, and gorgeous. It never gets cloying, powdery, or too sweet.

    Aizen-Myoo

Bottle: burst of orange and citrus, I can almost smell the rind Wet: like a Satsuma orange, not bitter, round juicy citrus sweetness with a hint of the cherry blossom Dry: cherry blossom moves forward, a hint of black tea blended perfectly with the orange and fruit I wore this constantly through the spring, its freshness brought sunshine and blossoms to the rainiest April days. The cherry blossom adds a creamy note to keep this blend from getting too sweet and the tea helps with that as well. It’s a very happy flirty scent.

    Sudha Segara

Bottle: ginger, honey, cinnamon Wet: chai, or pumpkin spice, this feels like a very autumn scent Dry: it becomes creamy honey ginger as it dries This is sweet and warm, comforting, reminds me a lot of chai.

    The Snow Maiden

Bottle: almost a lemon scent is that the daffodil?, berries, pine Wet: the pine moves forward, but doesn’t overpower, sweet berries blend nicely with the tart lemon note, and the ylang ylang hangs in the back as a nice round base Dry: this stays consistent with the berry, lemon, pine theme This fits the season very well, and I found myself wearing this all through the holidays and into January. It’s a nice balance between warm and cold, sunshine on snow.

    Niflheim

Bottle: mint, sharp, cool, a little wood Wet: sharp hairspray Dry: sharpness eases into a very bright perfume, definitely a cold white floral, maybe lily, slightly incensey or green herbal, pepper? This is a fine perfume, it’s just too sharp for my tastes.

    Moon Rose

Bottle: clean, light, luminous rose Wet: sheer, elegant, clean floral, predominantly rose, a little creamy moonflower, lovely Dry: the rose in this scent fits me perfectly, not too powdery or cloying, just light elegant clear rose I love love love this scent! It fits me perfectly and is my favorite BPAL rose so far. It’s hard to describe, as the moonflower and dew emphasize the rose so subtly. It definitely reminds me of a rose made of moonlight, translucent, but it doesn’t fade. Luminous.

    Elegba

Bottle: sweet coconut and rum Wet: coconut, rum, woody tobacco, reminds me of summer Dry: crap, something powdery creeps in, messing up the yummy coconut rum For some reason, on my skin, this mix dries down to remind me of the smell of the cardboard of a toilet paper roll. So weird, my skin chemistry.
