Chaos Theory II : The Butterfly Effect

It's a very nice scent, slightly minty, soft; I didn't pick up the vanilla until I read this review. It could be tonka rather. Overall, this scent reminds me in a very good way of Val Sans Retour. Which is good, because that's unreleased and I only have an imp and a half of that . it's an elusive floral mint, not light blue like Val, a little less cool, but I do get a slightly citrine floral, almost verging on glassy. With the mint and vanillaesque note, it curbs the normal migraine I get from glassy. It's very nice. I'll call it my designer imitation Val sans Retour

    Bon Vivant

In the bottle: This is a very sweet bubbly scent. It reminded me kind of of the bubbly bits of a light scent like pink phoenix Wet: It's nice. the strawberry takes a bit of a backseat to the champagne. It's a little too champagne for me, but it is marvelously decadent and light. overall: I don't care for the champagne. It's not that it's a bad scent, but. not for me. It dries up a little as it dries down, but I feel too much like a lush with it.

    Black Phoenix

In the bottle: I can detect a similiar phoenix undernote like with pink and red phoenix, but the scents are all drastically different. This one is rich, wet, juicy and dark. On drydown: I'm pretty sure there's fig in this, and this scent is enough to give me a great love of fig. But this isn't a dried out fig. This is a rich, juicy wet, dark fig. It's one I want to bite down on. it's satisfying, full, and utterly creates the vain aura it describes. When I wear it and sniff my wrist, it does produce a very full, self-satisfied chuckle. It's sensual, dark, charming. I adore it. Buy a bottle? I think I will put it on my to buy list. It's brilliant and luxurious, and hell, I have bottles of the other two chromatic firebirdies? Why break pattern?

    The Best Mint Blends

Undertow is divine. this thread really makes me regret passing on nuclear winter. And motivates me to look at the mock turtle and the star (which i wanted to look at anyhow) What does refrigeration do to the oils?

    Katharina

I don't know if this would work well in winter, but it's a gorgeous fall scent. The orange on me is tart but the apricot is sweet and feminine. I feel bold and wry. It's what Wilde for women would be. O woman and her barbed tongue! I might not buy it, but I am keeping my sample.

    Tempest

Glass scents give me a headache. This scent reminded me of Sea of Glass, but didn't give me a headache. It's a sharp, almost marine aquatic note. Like salt and wet earth but sharp. It doesn't give me a headache. For those on whom glass doesn't work, Ozone is a great replacement. I don't know if I'd buy this, but I might. It's poignant. I want more ozone scents

    Le Serpent Qui Danse

I love their snake blends. There's something amazing and smooth that fits like another skin. But this one's more floral, almost more aquatic than snake oil. I think I like it even more. It doesn't fit as closely, but it also is lighter.

    Snake Oil

This scent is luxurious. I love vanilla but the spices make it deep, mature, sexual. There's something dark and sharp with this. It dries amazingly on me. I want a drink of it. ...well, for the sake of the review... .... ...! ....okay, but oh my god. O.O DON'T drink it. *cries* it burns your tongue. :/ I hope this doesn't influence how it smells for me ^^; Edit: Although, it does mellow after a short bit like I burnt my tongue on tea. I wouldn't do it again, but.. I suppose it's better than licking shattered, right?

    The Tower

This is a scent which I never would have got without being frimped it. I just don't care for the card itself. Some see it as dynamic and broad, I see it negative. However, I very much like this scent. It's warm and hot. Like Red Phoenix but less herbal; or Red Devil but less spicy. It's lovely, intriguing. I get more the positive aspects of the card. I like it, but it's not my favorite of the fiery scents

    Parlement of Foules

In the bottle: This is lovely, the resin makes it a little sharp and the rose makes it beautiful. Wet: I'm still getting that but the resins are eclipsing the rose. It's sharper than I really would like it to be. Dry: It faded pretty quickly and I overall wasn't moved by it. It wasn't an unpleasant scent, but it didn't really seem that memorable. The rose was light, but it was a little peaked. I may have been expecting more than was there. Overall: I love the concept of this scent, it's a very romantic ideal, but, like chivalry, it works more on paper than in practice. Especially on me. I adore this scent in principle, but can't actually wear it. It's for the swap.

    Saturnalia

In the bottle: It's a lot sharper than I'd imagine it to be. I have my own image of saturnalia. This is more the knife that cuts the sacrificial king and the moment when he is slain than the festival leading up for it. Wet: vetiver, on me, is the love child of sandpaper and pinesol, the violet is a nice undercurrent, but the vetiver is amped up too much to enjoy the scent. It almost makes my stomach turn. Dry: The vetiver calms down... a little. It's still really strong Overall: I wanted more from this. I'm a little afraid the vetiver in highwayman will warp like this. Ah well. It was worth a try.

    Pink Phoenix

In the bottle: This smells very fresh and young. i'll agree with "pink punch" but add that "It's pink tea.... and it's GOOD tea." Wet: It's sugary, fruity and fresh. Dry: It fades quickly on me, but it's amazing the entire time. I'm constantly sneaking sniffs from my wrist. Overall: This scent makes me want to cuddle EVERYTHING. I love it. ^-^ It's girly and fresh and bubbly. I want a million bottles of this.

    Gluttony

In the bottle: I just about died with the first scent. It is perfect for its name, but I am not wanting to wear gluttony. It reminds me of freezerburned off brand ice cream bars which were in the fridge with a bunch of random thing so took in their flavor too. Wet: I'm getting praline pecans. Almost entirely. Dry: It's walnutty, spicy, a little chocolatey, still a lot, but it's mellowing After about 4 hours this is very nice, a mature nutty chocolate. but I don't know if it's worth the four hour wait.

    Sea of Glass

In the bottle: The strong glass note is the first thing that catches my attention. I'm afraid because my skin amplifies this note like nothing else. Hall of mirrors gave me a headache. Wet: The glass is still strong, but it's more subdued by the aquatic notes. Thirty minutes: This smells like an ocean, but there's something very sharp in it. I'm thinking maybe it could work for me. Were I to give it a color, I'd say a dark prussian blue. Like a stormy sea. Dry: It's aquatic, sharp, slightly citrussy, but it's too strong. I like it, but i'm not batty about it. it's okay. I wouldn't order it though.

    Prague

In the imp: I'm not sure where I'm getting this, but it's almost spicy. But it is very intriguing. Wet: The lily is very prevalent on me, but I'm still getting a hidden spice, almost like an incense. I'm not sure what gives me that, but this scent is amazing. Dry: It comes off a little waxy on me, with the lily predominant over this mystical incense which comes from no where, but I love this scent. It's prayerful; almost like a glorious cathedral. This is a scent for listening to Mozart and taking communion. Overall: This scent calms me. I would love a set of rosary beads scented like this. maybe I'd even use them>>. It's not the romantic bohemian Prague of the 19th century, but the glorious Christian Prague of the 17th and 18th. Utterly lovely. I've ordered imps of seraphim and sheol. However, depending on how they smell, it is VERY likely that I will order a larger bottle of this.
