In the bottle: Mmm . . . spice cookies and cinnamon imperials. Wet: Strong cinnamon with a hint of something floral, and something in the background that reminds me of marzipan. Very nice! Dry: That myrrh is really coming out now. I can still smell the cinnamon, but the incense is taking over. This one smells very sweet on me. Apparently my skin really brings out myrrh, because this scent is starting to smell a lot like Nefertiti on me -- although it is more sweet and warm. This is a nice one. It has a bit of a candy-like aroma. I do wish that marzipan note had stuck around a little longer. And now the myrrh is fading back into the background again. This one is interesting . . . it seems to be a scent of many moods (hence "Chimera"?). I like it.

In the bottle: Spicy and sharp. I may be able to detect a hint of floral in there, but mostly I smell incense and green plants. Wet: Still very spicy, but not as sharp as in the bottle. It smells of fragrant plants and musk. It manages to smell dark and bright at the same time. Dry down: As it dries, the Myrrh and Frankinsence notes stand out when I smell my wrists up close. From a distance the floral note is more apparent, but still subtle. This is a nice, sultry but cool sort of scent. It doesn't seem especially floral to me. The spice of the incense stands out more. I might prefer something a little warmer, but I may need to give this one a little time.

Well, this scent is my first BPAL order's raison d'etre, so I hope I'll like it. I have never been a perfume person, so my nose is still untrained. Aside from the plum and grapefruit, I don't really know what any of these notes smell like on their own. So I'll just try to convey my general impression. In the bottle: Tangy, sort of a hybrid of incense and citrus. I suppose the main thing that I'm smelling must be the grapefruit. It's perhaps a bit sharp for my taste. Wet: On my skin, I smell a strong grapefruit aroma with something sort of hard and medicinal underneath. I can see what other reviewers mean about the "soap" smell. Dry: It's becoming sweeter. It doesn't seem to have much of a range, but I didn't put a whole lot on. From a distance, I get sort of a mild, vaguely sweet and pleasant whisp of scent. If I sniff my wrist up close, it smells like the lovechild of citrus candy and liquid hand-soap. Sadly, I'm not sure that this is exactly my thing. But maybe I'll give it another chance before I send it to the land of swappage. EDIT: Well, after wearing it for a couple hours, it is starting to grow on me a bit. It has faded down to a mild, pleasantly sweet, somewhat undefinable scent.

Ah, ok. That is reassuring. In that case, I guess there is nothing to do but relax and wait it out . . .

Should I be worried that I got a CnS Friday saying my order was due to be shipped out, but the tracking information hasn't changed at all since then? I know it's probably just my newbie anxiety getting the better of me, but I've had so many bad experiences with the US postal service lately that I'm pretty paranoid these days.
