In the imp, this smells like a lovely lemon scent. But on...it turns into this homemade cabinet/furniture polish I made with olive oil, a bit of bay oil, and lemon. So it's kinda nice, really, but I don't want to smell like my cabinets!

Florals, and something that smells like tartness and plum. It dries a lot like Erato does on me--sweet, floral, light. BUT, there's a current of something slightly musky. This is so nice!

This smells like wood and lemon to me...I know there must be lavender there, but I don't smell it. If there are any Shadow fans disappointed that it was discontinued a while back, consider this a likely replacement!

This is very icy and metallic scent, but with there's a warmth to it. There's soapiness starting out, but that soon disappates.

It starts out as violet and something fizzy and poppy, and turns into violet and nailpolish. My skin is amping this violet WAY too much...I loved how it smelled in the imp, like carbonated electric violet, sweet and sharp at the same time. But now it just smells strange.

For whatever reason, this smells like a spicy vanilla on me...there are a hint of herbs in the background. But it's basically just a light, soft scent on me. It's nice enough, just not what I was expecting! ETA: I tried this again at Whole Foods, and it was like a vanilla herbal cologne...it smelled SO good.

At first it's all spicy, tart lemon. Once dry for a while the lemon dwindles to the faintest of notes, and it's mostly cedar. It's okay, but somehow I think the blend falls flat with my chemistry.

Go to the Roswell WF--they have better selection, an actual display, more testers, AND they'll give you a forum discount if you talk to Lisa (AND she's XOMom on here, and is a delightful fellow BPALer to meet ). I think she can hold stuff, might even be able to order it in time. You might try PMing her directly. And the Duluth WF is my local one, but they ALWAYS annoy me when it comes to BPAL. There's always stuff stacked in front of the display, several scents no longer have testers and the testers have not been replaced. I've been thinking about Lucifer, but I'm waiting until I can get back to the Roswell WF to buy it . As I recall, they had all the retail Salons, plus some of the valentine scents (they might be gone now), and Bordello, Cheshire Cat, Dorian, Dragon's Milk, Alice, Embalming Fluid, Snake Oil, Shub, Deep In Earth, Defutata, Fascinum...drawing a blank on the others, but I think they're listed on the BPAL WF thread on the forum. It's really fun to go!

This smells very unisex to me...very interesting, too! It smells like electricity and florals. Fluorescent florals...there's a lot of energy, but the florals are cool and bright, not too heavy. This is really lovely, and I can imagine it being just the kind of moderately cheerful gorgeousness to pull you out of the doldrums on a rainy day. Cheering, but not obnoxiously so. And just a note: I'm mostly through the Steampunks now, and there's not a loser among the bunch thus far! These are amazing.

Smokestack

With notes like "Creosote, coal, and industrial waste", how can anyone pass this up? Surprisingly, this is nice. This must be the vetiver that likes me. It smells just a bit smoky, but underneath the smoke, there's a bit of cologne. It doesn't smell like the usual smoke to me, it smells like a cooking smoke, a toasted nuts quality. And something almost rooty. I actually like this, I can't believe it. -
This smells like spring clouds to me...puffy, white, floating on a floral breeze of white florals. It smells like calm happiness, with a sprinkling of excitement.

The Antikythera Mechanism

I thought this scent was going to smell like a cigar box. But as I try everything I can, I did... And it's really lovely! Most vanilla usually wimps out on me, or powders out. But this vanilla stays soft and sweet, and contrasts nicely with the wood and tobacco. There's a deeper creaminess to this vanilla than the usual, too...ooh, I like this a lot! -
At first, the Jasmine acts like it hates me ("No Jasmine, don't go there!"), bit after about 10 minutes it smells quite lovely. Rose and jasmine with a blend of a bit of wine, a bit of musk. It's like dark satin.

I knew The Coil would have to be one of the first ones I tried out of the Imp Pack. Its oil is a pretty green color . Anyway, it's a very bracing mint initially, but it soon mellows. Mint is in the forefront, but the ozone makes it less sharp and gives it a dreamy quality. And I can catch a hint of floral in the background. Soft, sweet mint! Heavenly.

My least favorite of the sprays . It's okay...but the florals kind of run together, and this smells a little too sweet to me. Is that the faintest hint of green stems? Maybe that's the moss. There's just not that perfect melding of "WHOA, AMAZING!" that I've found in the other scents. But it's nice though, and if you're a big fan of these florals, this might be the spray for you.

Wanda at the Bordello...a rich wine scent, delightfully lurid. It's sweet, tangy, and it smells very "purple" to me. Very nice!

This afternoon, I took a dirt nap . I sprayed a bit on my pillow, and smelled the loveliest blend of fresh earth and orange. I LOVE this, and this will definitely be my next full-size room spray purchase.

And...I have a new favorite ginger blend. I thought from the notes that this was going to be primarily floral--not what I would have selected for a scent honoring her Pepperness, but I love florals (and Pepper!), so I thought I'd try it. And wow! The florals are there, but the ginger is on top. A warm, gingerbready ginger, spiced by the pepper, sweetened by the the floral notes. Some floral is trying to turn into soap on me after a while, but the ginger glares at it and dares it to behave. What a fun, sassy little blend! This rocks!

I have to admit, I was expecting something very much along the lines of Dirty. But this is Dirty's sophisticated, complex cousin. In the bottle it smells like a hint of something floral (rose to me, but I'm probably just thinking that's what it is because I like it) and clean linen drying in the sun. On...it's like there's this astringent vegetable note, like you get from Burts' Bees toner. It makes the clean smell "pop" a bit, so it's not just like soap, and it doesn't fade or seem ordinary. Very unisex, and very lovely.

So beautiful. Mainly I'm getting a sweet floral musk with a bit of a sharp, herbal undercurrent. This scent is like an undulating dragon serpent, each scale reflecting a different color, creating a silken rainbow array of olfactory textures. Not sure where that came from. But it's really complex, and the kind of scent you could wear daily and never get tired of it. You'd always be smelling different facets of the blend, and all of them would be good.

Strangely, I feel like having a Wasabi salad right now . Yeah, it's the Wasabi show. But the honey tea is very much present in the background, making it less spicy and more sweet and substantial. This scent is so strange and yet so lovely. I honestly don't know what the verdict is...I might like it a lot. And then again, it might just remind me of Wasabi dressing. :ponders:

Bruised Violet Compound

Okay...violet and I don't always get along, but I try everything. And...on my skin, the violet is turning into this shrill floral sweetness that's making me feel a bit nauseous. But in the imp, it's quite nice. Let's see if it improves. Then it calms down and turns into...what an amethyst would smell like, I think. Purple like a jewel, sparkling, rich and deep. The moss and patchouli spice up the floral a bit. This isn't something I would wear often, but it's a really lovely violet. -
Stimulating Sassafras Strengthener

Creamy absinthe that fades pretty quickly. It's okay, and that's it...I won't be swapping the imp anytime soon, but I won't be buying a bottle, either. It smells pretty "meh" to me, although it's a different kind of blend. -
Slippery Poppy Tincture
savage_rose replied to Leopard403's topic in Doc Constantine's Pharmacopoeia
This is GORGEOUS! I immediately closed my eyes and said "ooh" as soon as I smelled it in the imp. It's got the same stem-greenery from other blends like One to Tie, and there's a bit of floral, that's gotta be poppy...and this peppery kick, perfectly balanced, that just makes it spicy and that much more interesting. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. -
It smells very sweet and soft...nothing stands out too strongly, it's just a woody, sweetly incensed rose. Nicely done.
