Halp! Recommendations for an absolute Newbie
rosymaplemoth replied to russalka's topic in Recommendations
I haven't tried Snake Oil, but I've heard nothing but rave reviews about it... so if it's something that piques your curiosity, I'd check it out! How sensitive are you to pepper? Just because when someone says "warm and fuzzy", Grandmother of Ghosts always pops into my head. And now for the real reason I'm posting: I LOVE your username. One of my favorite folk legends. -
2012 version. IMP: BAM you just got hit in the face with a bouquet of freshly cut roses! Still, you can't help but notice that you're smiling as you rub your cheek in shock. It's strong, but wet and fresh. WET: Your assailant calms down and hands you the bouquet. The dew is still hanging from the petals and dripping down the step. It's nostalgic and very romantic. It makes you feel like you're in a fairy tale. DRY: You have to leave, so you set the bouquet down and walk away. The scent fades quickly, but it hasn't changed from that fresh dewiness. --- I want more! This is awesome!!

This was my first experience with a 5ml bottle, and I accidentally put on a wee bit too much. That probably affects my opinion of it, but... I mostly just got wham IN YOUR FACE floral. Bottle, wet, and dry I didn't get any paper or leather-bound books... which is quite sad, as the 'book' smell is what I was looking for. The scent will also stay with you for a long, long time... so if you've been having trouble with scents that fade too quickly, this one is for you. Nice, but glad I didn't get a full bottle.

I have gotten so many compliments with this scent! Apparently it works great with my skin chemistry, because the woman who got me into the Lab said that it smelled much better on me. When I first put it on, I was in an enclosed bathroom and almost had to run out because I got a very strong licorice-like scent. I'm not sure how else to describe it. However, in a few seconds it faded to a wonderful scent that really makes me feel more confident. I know that's probably a strange thing to say, but I feel a lot more confident when I wear this scent. Maybe it's because of the compliments, but whenever I get a whiff of it, I think of strength. It doesn't smell masculine on me, but it is rather asexual. It could go either way, really.

I'm a total scent newbie, so here goes: I was a little surprised by the description of this perfume, because 'high-pitched' and 'death' isn't what came to mind... well, unless you view death as comfort. This smell evokes warmth and comfort. Maybe it's the name 'Grandmother' in the title, but it reminds me of my grandmother's bedroom. It seems like it would be a great scent for going out in the snow, because just smelling it just makes me feel warmer and calmer. Out of all the many gods referenced in this line, Mania is not who I would have imagined. However, this is one of my favorite scents!
