    Scherezade

In the imp: New Age store. Wet: Very perfume-y, but I suspect that may be because I put too much on. I tried the same amount as the other scents I've sampled so far, but this one is significantly more powerful. There aren't any notes I've smelled often enough to identify, but this is warm, enveloping, and spicy-sweet. Dry: There's, I don't know how to describe it, a subtle potency to this that's intriguing. Something about the blend is clearly not vanilla, but reminds me of it anyway. Scherezade is sexier and headier than I'd ordinarily want to wear, but I think it'll be a great scent for special occasions.

    To a Woman

The last time I used a rose-scented lotion, my best friend told me that I smelled like a little old lady, and I've been excessively paranoid about anything rose-y touching my skin since. I never would have picked this out on my own, but it came as a frimp with my first order, so I had to give it a try. In the bottle: Barely anything. Certainly nothing I can identify. Wet: To get revenge on my older brother once as a kid, I liberally sprayed his pillowcases with a perfume I later found out belonged to my great-grandmother. I have no idea what it was called or what it contained, but the overwhelming scent of it was my mental prototype of perfume for years. To a Woman is smelling like the baby cousin of that right now. But after a few minutes, I'm getting the rose and it is wonderful, making the arcane, powerful note/s from my childhood a lot less terrifying. They don't seem to want to blend much at all, but they're getting along pretty well anyway. Dry: Just the rose, soft and dusky. I'm sorry I was wary of that smell for so long. I could see a little old lady wearing this perfume, but I bet she'd be pretty BA.

    Kyoto

A gentle, soothing blend of cherry blossom, white sandalwood and star anise. This is not just the first BPAL imp I've tried, but one of only a handful of times I've worn perfume in my life. Here goes nothing! In the imp: anise and cherry, as expected, neither one really dominating the other. I'm getting a lighter, floral cherry, not the juicy or candy cherry some people are. Wet: Anise, anise, anise, with just a hint of the cherry and something else a little herbal. Now I'm a little worried--I love the taste licorice, but maybe I was wrong about thinking I'd like it so much in a perfume. Dry: Getting a lot more of the cherry blossom now, and the balance is really nice. The anise is much more agreeable when it's not so dominant. There's also some other light note coming out that I can't identify--maybe that's the sandalwood? The oil seems to have faded very fast, but the occasional sniff of my wrists is making me long for spring even though we've hardly seen snow yet. Dunno how often I'll end up wearing this, but it's made for a pleasant first venture.
