Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils
DJ Sin replied to friendthegirl's topic in BPAL FAQs
What BPAL are you allergic too? Did you know which notes/accord that gives you problems? I am curious, so far my skin has freaked out on two scents: All Night Long and Defututa. I really liked how All Night Long smelled and it was on my wishlist for a long time, I am sad. I did pass it on to a friend who hadn't heard of BPAL before in hopes that it will convert her! -
What scents do you usually gravitate towards? Honey, vanilla, musk, fruity, amber, or sandalwood. Indoor or outdoor wedding? What time of day? Color theme? This may help narrow down choices.... and btw Congrats!!!!

wet in the bottle it smells like brown sugar. Definitely foody, it reminded me of Following Instructions, which I like. dry on me smells like plastic and I never got the plum from this scent. It calms down to light sugared scent, its not a love for me. The notes are intriguing though

Vanilla bean and vanilla blossom, golden honey, antiqued amber, beeswax, copal, lotus blossom, and helichrysum. I smelled the helichrysum and lotus blossom right away in the decant.Very sugary sweet smell, and it dries to soft beautiful spicy vanilla scent on my skin. Need a bottle of this, it wins! long throw on me as well.

You know the pears that are in a can that are surrounded by syrup? Yeah, those ones This is what The Vines smells like in the imp. Sweet candied peaches dripping amongst juice and syrupy goody-ness. One applied to the skin, it morphs and the vanilla takes center stage with the honey in the background. The pears have been disappeared in the dry-down. What a fleeting love affair. Its a light, sunny and summery perfume. 4/5 good throw for my skin.

Valentine's day theme- flowers and candy
DJ Sin replied to JasminDreams2010's topic in Recommendations
My recommendations Black Lotus is really bubble-y pink to me or Peacock Queen (any of the rose scents would conjure up Valentines Day fun!) -
I suffered my first allergic reaction to BPAL!! My skin turned red and now I am itchy all over. No bueno, do not like. However I smell good and feel itchy I get cinnamon, clove, musk and lemon from this one.

just got this bottle, so its aged. I get the french lavender and honey but I think that the blackberry's and carnations have taken a back seat with the age. This doesn't morph on me when its dry. Its the same scent applied wet. Becoming a fast favorite of mine, I just got it yesterday and wore it out twice now! Very nice long throw 5/5 for me!

I think you might like the Red Queen its a fruity cherry scent. I've been on a fruity adventure with BPAL lately. One of my favorites right now is the Soul of La Traviata. Which is plum, black musk, neroli and grapefruit. In my opinion the Lab really does fruit scents really well! welcome to BPAL! your new addiction!

Similarities Between BPAL Scents - GC and general discussion
DJ Sin replied to Shollin's topic in Recommendations
Is the Red Queen similar to Conical Beast? They both have black cherry listed as their top note? -
Black plum, black musk, black currant, iridescent pink grapefruit, neroli, and jungle orchid. In the bottle: Plum Goodiness Wet On My Skin: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooo0000000000000h I can't stop smelling myself. I am in love with this perfume! The black plum and black musk are a nice compliment to each other. The pink grapefruit shows up only in the wet stage and then disappears. I get the jungle orchid but not sure on the neroli. Dry Down On My Skin: Its teh sex in a bottle I need another bottle or three!

a frimp for the lab (thank you!) straight out of the bottle it smelled like smoke on me (ozone?). and then the lilies came in! Which was a nice surprise and it balanced out the smoke. Unfortunately it has faded rather fast on me. I would have never picked this out for myself and it was a nice to try it.

Very berry! juicy, delightful and crisp on my skin. Beautiful scent, I don't get much fig or honey in this one. Has a medium to long throw.

At first touch when In The Forest hits my skin its pure straight soap on me. After it calms down, it behaves nicely on me. I can smell the leather and the clove, its like an old leather jacket I used to wear out at the coffee shop. Long last memories of wild nights.

Oh hello there Jessamine honey! So alive and still kicking into the eleventh hour! This isn't a complex scent, its pretty much floral on me with a tab bit of honey thrown in for measure. A little goes a long way with this oil. Its a good solid go to scent for me.

In bottle: wow rose! Wet: overwhelmingly blooming rose mixed with myrrh and lotus! (to be honest I was wearing a faded Black Lotus on my wrist while I put the Peacock Queen on my upper arm) The combination is very interesting. I think they play well off each other. Dry: Very much rose, It reminds me of old rose perfume that I used to have as a child. To be honest, rose isn't my favorite scent, however I have fond memories of it and yet bad memories associate with the note. My first experience with the labs rose note was when I tried on The Churchyard (I love it btw, but the rose is quiet in that one. So its interesting to try a pure "in your face" rose perfume! Throw: After 2 and half hours it still smells like the wet stage on me. Additional Thoughts: I may layer this one with Belladonna to ground the rose out more or add it to the Churchyard to bring some of the rose back it that blend. Since I think this is one oil that I can't wear it alone. (Edited to add my latest findings) Still going strong! and it morphs!! Wonderfully! Rose is still there, lightly but it turned to spice with a hint of chilliness to it. (clove? cinnamon? maybe...) I may have to buy a bottle after all! Going to try it again tomorrow with out any other oil added and see if it morphs the same way again. 1.12.2013 update Peacock Queen (alone) Did not morph into the wonderful scent I was smelling on the first day upon its drydown Still debating on bottle of this one.

I haven't tried Zombi yet but its been on my wishlist. Thank you for the recommendation! All good choices! Thank you! Peaches and pomegranates, I may have to add this on my wishlist. Fruity is good. Is Miss Jesell boozy at all? Spellbound another one added to my wishlist! I did end up winning a bottle of the Churchyard on ebay and did not realize that it had a rose note in it. I fell in love with it....

I am not overly rose scents but thinks Beth and the crew can do wonders with perfume. Looking to expand my collection scent wise... I have a lot of sandalwood, myrrh notes already and don't have any rose. So I am on a hunt for the perfect rose blend for me. I was looking at Peacock Queen but I am not sure... My favorite scent note is moss. Favorite perfume at the moment is Ghost House followed closely by Jazz Funeral.

Last night I went walking through Old Town Albuquerque and wore Ghost House layered with Belladonna. I thought it was fitting scent to see luminas, with old houses, lights and falling leaves on the ground in crispy cold. Today I am wearing Hellion V.2 prototype because it just arrived in the mail yesterday! Seems like I have been waiting forever for it! I'm watching Dexter with my husband and having a stress free holiday. Happy Holidays everyone!

My suggestions for you are snake oil and lunar phoenix. Oh wait, I see you already like snake oil!! Umm Churchyard would be another suggestion for you.

Just got this a sample in my order. It warmed nicely on my skin and didn't turn to soap-smelling on me. Its soft, sexy and seducing with spice and vanilla. I think I may have to order a bottle of this.
