    Lampades

Okay. On first sniff, both out of the bottle and on my skin, this is screaming to be in an oil burner, filling a room with its scent. I'm not sure I can handle wearing it as a fragrance, as it's very fruity. Very. The cranberry is delightful and reminds me of cooler weather, which I really enjoy thinking about this time of year. The spice, if it's here, is sweet and hiding beneath the bright fruit and sticky flowers. Even as it dries down, though, it seems to linger with the sweetness that I just can't abide by on my skin, with nothing to balance it out. The musk is appearing, but slight, and the spice is dancing into view, but still not enough for me. Don't get me wrong. I love the scent. On someone else, or in a room. Or darkened up with something else, maybe. I'll play around. In the end, the drydown went very, very soft. Tygher says it smells like Bordello does on me, so that may help people out in a slight comparisson. I can barely smell the remnants, 3 hours after I put it on. My skin must love it, to be so selfish.

    Where is this scent?

As far as your 'March Hare' imp, Miss A, I think Astarte is probably right. It sounds like all clues point to Mad Hatter. Mm. Mad Hatter. I love it. Put it on, see if musk pops its head out and whispers to you. If so, that's Mad Hatter. A little darkness and insanity lurking beneath the pleasant, refreshing pennyroyal.

How do you apply your BPAL oils?

One thing several of us have done, or have been experimenting with is opening the 5mL (or 10mL) bottles and, rather than tipping them, rubbing the mouth of the bottle against our wrists. It seems to apply a decent amount, enough to scent without overwhelming. I suppose it's kind of the same principle as 'dipping your fork' when you eat salad dressing. It gets just enough without wasting any, and it takes a while before you notice a distinct difference. Some of you that slather probably wouldn't like this, however. I've also wondered about glass cocktail stirrers or the like. The glass won't absorb the scent, after all, like some items would.

So. On my hand I've now one part Djinn, one part Egyptian Amber. I'm liking it. It's ashy. Very, ashy. And Amber. Imagine that, Beth was right. Yay. Thanks for the advice.

Okay. So the consensus is ... Djinn and Single-note Amber, since I don't have Brimstone. All hail q-spice, for I believe she's the one who sent that amber to us. Thanks, ladies!

Mmm. Formula 54. My fear on that one is I'll fall in love with it, and then .. poof. It'll be gone. Then where will I be? I'd hate to have to actually stalk someone else who ordered a bottle.

I'll definitely have to try it. But on a side-note? I read shadow's post as a 'rake out a crotch novel'. And was trying to picture what this novel was. What sort of novel -rakes out- a crotch?! Then .. I re-read. Yeah. So, Hellfire. It sounds like it should be exactly what I put it on my list for. Should be good. Now .. to find a single-note Amber.

Oh. That's complicated stuff, layering. I don't know if I could do that and not end up smelling really bad. It's advanced techniques, they scare me! I'm just a novice!!!

I love leather, actually. As long as it's a -good- leather. I have Hellfire at home. I've been really lapse about trying the new things. Scarecrow and Mad Hatter own my heart, and I'm lazy. I'll try that one when I get home, and see. It's description leads me to believe I'll love it. I know I tried it -once-, but it was on a multi-oil day, where I was cramming in several.

There's a candle I really like at CandlesByCows. It's Amber & Ash. Basically, it's tobacco and amber scented, and it's really, really yummy. I was wondering if anyone could recomment anything with a tobacco note, or something that smells similar, but may not be exactly the same. I have Kali, but haven't tried it. I have Roadhouse, but the smell wasn't there in it for me. Perversion is on my list. Any others?

    Recs for Longest Lasting Oils

Things with musk seem to be long-lasting, to me. But I wanted to make a note. Often times, when I think things have 'died' on my flesh, I find that I'm just very acclimated to the scent. When I shove myself under someone else's nose, they note that, indeed, the scent is still thriving. I'm just unable to smell it. Could be that, in part, is what is happening.

    Scarecrow

I've not read any of the other reviews yet, so let's see how off I am. Usually, things don't smell the same on me ... On me, I'm not just smelling the straw and the heat that warms the Scarecrow, but the post it's on as well. There's wood in here, but I can't place quite what it is. This isn't as dark a scent as I expected. It's bright, almost smelling hot at times. I think that's the point of it, though. I like it - I was afraid it would be closer to Sol, which didn't do well on me at all. But this is much softer in it's 'heat'. Less aggressive. I was hoping to smell like Oz. I suppose I'll have to settle for this. It's a nice thing to settle for, and I don't have to give up my brain. Bravo, Beth.

    The Dormouse

This is very, very light on me, which is a change from the other Tea Party scents I've tried. Sweet without being cloyingly so. When I think of apples, normally, I think of Granny Smith apples. Crisp and tart. If it makes any sense, this is green, and apple-y, but it's not ... sour. I'm horrible at 'identifying' scents. But there's something more green than just the apples here, and it's thick. Like a sage-colored musk. There may even be some sort of vaguely honeyed pear on the initial application, but it disolves into the amalgam on me, and I'm unable to identify it further. Still, while I may be horrible at naming things, I know what I like. (Thanks go to JJ_J for sharing this one through a trade.) I love it. The rambling mystery of what's in it will gnaw at me like its oft-abused namesake until it's revealed on the site.
