In the imp: Ylang ylang and something dry and earthy. Wet: Sour. I can pick out ylang ylang and poppy. Dry: The ylang ylang and patchouli are duking it out for dominance. It's a very strange mix.

    Naiad

In the imp: Lots of lavendar. The neroli gives it some bite. Wet: All lavendar. I smell like a walking potpourri dish. Dry: Still potpourri. This is really not me...

    Decadence

I've been meaning to try this forever. I somehow got it into my head that it would smell like citrus and clove. Not sure where I heard that... In the imp: Citrus, and some sort of spice. Maybe clove, but that could be wishful thinking. Wet: Citrus and burning plastic. Must be cinnamon, which always smells like burnt plastic on me. (Though my boyfriend says it smells really nice.) Dry: More of the same. I bet this would be great if I could smell cinnamon like a normal person does.

    Red Phoenix

By all rights, this scent should have been perfect for me. I adore tonka, red musk, patchouli, and tobacco, and I really love plum! This should have been my holy grail, but alas, the scent gods are a cruel lot. In the bottle: All I smell is plastic... I can't figure out where all those wonderful notes are. Wet: Burnt plastic. My boyfriend loves it. He says it smells like cinnamon, but all I smell is burnt platic. Dry: Still burnt plastic, with a whiff of tobacco and patchoulli. Where's my plum? My boyfriend still says it smells like cinnamon. Conclusion: Is there something wrong with my nose? Or my skin chemistry? I think this bottle is headed for the swap pile.

    EPIC BPAL Spreadsheet Thread

If anybody is still looking for an update, you can download my copy here: BPAL Spreadsheet The new ones are all at the bottom, so you should be able to just copy and paste those rows into your spreadsheet. My formatting is a bit different than the spreadsheet most people have, so you might need to move a few columns. (For example, I got rid of the masculine/feminine column in mine, and added a column so I could sort by my ratings, so everything might be a column or two off.) Let me know if I missed anything, and I'll update it.

    Berenice

In the imp: Aloe! And a bit of lily. Wet: Light floral over an aloe base. Smells kind on like a sunburn lotion I used last summer. Dry: Very light floral. It faded super fast and had almost no throw.

    Ace of Hearts

In the imp: Light and perfumey. There's a lot of floral action, but the lotus and rose come out on top. Wet: Very light and sweet. Almost an old lady scent. Dry: A bit sweeter and soapy. Damnable orchid- it always turns soapy on me.
  8. On me, Blood Countess is a lot like Hellion without the patchouli.

    Graveyard Dirt

In the bottle: Wet dirt and moss. Just like the description says. Wet: Mold and dirt. This is a lot lighter than I expected. Dry: Mold. Or maybe mushrooms. This is definitely interesting, but not something I can imagine wearing.

    Bergamot

Bitter citrus- very tart and sunny. It smells like orange peel to me.

    Seduction

In the imp: Strong herbal and floral Wet: Overly sweet floral. Grossness. This was truly terrible on me. I kept waving my wrist in my boyfriend's face asking "Are you seduced yet?" But, alas, he was not.

    Geek

In the imp: Leather! Very in-your-face. Wet: Still all leather. Smells like aftershave. Dry: More of the same. This is a very masculine blend. Oodles of throw!

    King of Spades

In the imp: Some sort of fruit (maybe plum?), smoke, resin. Reminiscent of Queen of Spades, but darker and earthier. Wet: Plum, coconut, something earthy, and something just a bit sweet. This is a very complex blend, and it seems to change everytime I smell it. Dry: Smoky and fruity. Utterly gorgeous.

    Queen of Spades

I first sniffed this at a Meet'n'Sniff. Immediatly, a picture appeared in my head: a picture of me clutching the imp and running out of the restaurant, throwing chairs and busboys in my path to thwart pursuit. Then reason got the better of me (or I remembered that I'm a terrible runner) and I decided to just track down an imp for myself. In the imp: Smoke and plum. It's very deep and rich. Wet: Plum, spice, and a touch of dirt. Reminds me a bit of Hellion, but more complex. Dry: A bit spicier and more dirt. I love it in the imp, but it's a little overpowering on my skin.

    Dorian

In the imp: Tea and sugar. Wet: Lemony tea. Musk comes out a bit as it dries. Dry: Musty with a bit of lemon.

    Voodoo

In the imp: Lemon/lime and strange spices. Really kind of gross, but I'll try anything once. Wet: Almond, lots of myrrh, and lime. Smells like soda, or maybe shoe polish. Dry: Definitely shoe polish.

    Storm

In the imp: Bright citrus. Wet: Cleaning supplies and sour grapefruit. Dry: Cleaning supplies.

    White Rabbit

In the imp: Mostly tea, I think. I'm not overly impressed, but I'll try it out anyway. This morphs into something terrible on my skin. I'm not sure what it is, but it's seriously gross. I had to wash this off almost right away.

    Belle Époque

In the imp: Sweet and floral, with a bit of citrus. Wet: Very fresh citrus, with a floral and sandalwood underneath. Dry: Sandalwood and citrus. Belle Epoche is utterly gorgeous, especially after it dries. I think I might need a bottle of this.

    Freak Show

In the imp: Fruity, with an undercurrent of smooth vanilla. Wet: Fig and vanilla. I'm getting the same feeling from this as I do from Hollywood Babylon, except with fig instead of strawberry. Dry: A bit less sweet. The cocoa comes out a bit, bit it's still mostly fig and vanilla. Half an hour later: It turned very sweet and heavy. Vanilla morphs on my skin sometimes, so that's probablythe culprit. I really like this when it first dries down. It's playful and a bit sexy, and the throw is perfect. I wish it would stay in that stage, before it goes weird.

    Love in the Asylum

In the imp: Rose, a touch of spice, and a bit of something herbal. Wet: Very faint, and chemical-like. It smells kind of like laundry soap. It's probably the carnation- carnation never works on me. Dry: Powdery and chemical like.

    Herr Drosselmeyer

In the imp: Sweet and chocolatey, like the tobacco isle at Walgreens. Wet: Heavy tobacco. Dry: Still heavy and chocolatey tobacco. This isn't something I'd wear, but it might not be bad in an oil burner.

    Nyx

In the imp: Smells like something my grandmother would wear... The jasmine is overpowering. Wet: So... much... jasmine... Lots of rose, too. It smells like an old lady perfume to me. Dry: More of the same. This has a whole lot of throw!

    Hecate

In the imp: Marzipan, with a touch of myrrh. Wet: Maraschino cherries! Dry: 30 seconds later I was still trying to decide if I wanted to smell like a maraschino cherry, and the cherry smell was gone! No more cherry or almond- just myrrh and musk. Mostly myrrh. A couple hours later: Still mostly myrrh, but a little deeper and smokier. Really, I wish it has stuck with the cherry. I was kind of liking that.

    Storyville

I got a sniffie of this, and whoa is it strong! I opened the imp to sniff it, and the fragrance lingered in the room for 5 minutes! In the imp: Cocoa, candy, and musk. There's something sweet that I think is vanilla, but I can't really tell. Wet: Vanilla, musk, and bay rum. It's sweet, boozy, and quite sexy. I think this is what you'd get if you layered Smut and Monsterbait: Underbed. After five minutes: Tobacco? Something smoky and woodsy has come to the forefront. The sweet note is buried way underneath, which is weird since vanilla usually dominates any blend on my skin. After 30 minutes: The smoky note has let up a bit, but it's still there. It smells like a blend of tobacco smoke, vanilla, and a dark musk. After 3 hours: Still tobacco smoke, vanilla, and musk, just softer. Storyville lasts and lasts on my skin. I like it, but not enough to pay the going rate for it. There are other sweet, foody blends that I like much better.
