  1. I didn't read the description for this before I put it on, and I really thought it had orange in it. Or orange blossom -- something like that. It smells orange-y to me. Like ginger too, but in a soft way. The ginger isn't overwhelming. I do detect that fizziness that other people have talked about, and although normally I don't like that kind of thing, it seems to suit this scent.

It gets less fizzy and more musky as it dries, and that orange note I smelled at first isn't as strong.

I like it. It feels kind of like a novelty scent to me rather than an everyday scent, though, and I don't wear those very much.

  2. I thought this would be more floral than it is. Actually, I wouldn't call this a floral scent at all. It's a soft and musky, with a light incense over the top. It does seem slightly powdery too -- some ambers do that on me. It's sweet, and it's definitely what I'd describe as a skin scent. You know, those ones that aren't strong and don't have any particular note that stands out, they're just kind of soft, a little bland, and not obnoxious at all.

  3. My decant just says Orange Phoenix, not Orange Phoenix v6, but I can't find any other review thread for this scent, so I guess this is the one I've got.

Anyway, it smells like fizzy orange blossom to me. Definitely some kind of floral in there with the orange. It's all right, but not my thing.

  4. This is very BPALy. You smell this, you think Yep, that's BPAL. That's what I thought when I put it on, and then I looked at all the previous reviews that mention how it reminds them of another one, so I think I'm not the only one.

To me it smells sort of like Fenris Wolf, Scherezade, and linen. Plus kind of a little bit of powder. I guess that's because it smells like a dark musky hazy red musk sort of scent with something soft in it (that must be the linen). The musk definitely smells like red musk plus another kind of musk -- it doesn't smell as loud or as obvious as red musk usually does.

I like this, but I feel like I already have some similar scents.

  5. Yeah, it's like a milky cream with ginger in it, and it does kinda smell slightly like buttered popcorn.

I like it, but I've tried enough scents sort of like this enough to know that I really like it for about 10 minutes and then I'm ready to smell something else.

It does seem comforting in a sweet, familiar sort of way, so I want to hang on to my decant, but I don't think I'd ever use a whole bottle of it.

ETA: Oh. My husband says "Ew. Sickly sweet." So I guess I won't keep it. :(

  6. I saw peach mentioned in other reviews, but I don't smell that until it's dry -- and even then I can't tell it's peach, just some sort of unidentifiable fruit. It smells like gardenia with a heady, jasminey edge, but it's softened by that fruit note. It doesn't smell bad, it's just not the sort of floral scent that I like.

  7. Weird. This smells like a bright tropical floral on me, quite similar to Vasakasajja. Nothing like what I expected from reading the notes. No heady jasmine at all -- more like almost a fruity floral with a cute musk under it.

As I was reading through the reviews, no one else mentioned that. Makes me wonder if my decant was mislabeled or something.

  8. This sounds good in theory, and it would have smelled good on me too... except for the frankincense. I can smell something nice underneath it, but the frankincense goes too high-pitched and hazy and drowns out the rest of the scent. It does that to me a lot. I can only take really small doses of frankincense.

  9. I've tried this twice now because the first result was bizarre and I thought there must be some mistake. Nope. Same result second time.

This smells like me. I mean, exactly. I can't really even tell I have perfume on. This is exactly what my skin smells like all the time. Some combination of all the various products (soap, lotion, mousse, shower gel, etc.) that I use produces this scent. Soft, a little woods-ish, lightly floral.

I probably don't need to keep my decant, because... well, I already smell like this. What's the point?

The most shocking thing of all is that there's spikenard in this, my #1 most hated note of all time.

  10. Disclaimer: I don't think I've ever kept an apple scent that I've tried. It's just not really my thing.

I put this one on thinking it was probably going to be a big blast of apples, but it wasn't. I let it sit on my wrist for about 20 minutes while I did other stuff, and when I sniffed it to write this review, I couldn't figure out what I was smelling. Certainly didn't seem identifiable as apples. So I put on some more oil and tried again.

Now when it's wet, it seems like I can smell something that's vaguely apple-ish, but not hugely. It kind of smells like apples and.... oh, what's that woody viney note. Galangal? It's that one note that smells a little woody and a little bitter, and I usually try to avoid that note.

This one's not a winner for me, but I didn't really expect that it would be.

  11. Beautiful soft red rose petals and sweet plums. That's what it smells like.

I've tried so many rose blends from BPAL hoping to find the perfect one. I'm not in the mood for rose very often, and I'm really picky about rose notes. I only like the dewy soft petaly ones, not the green or loud or thorny ones. Until now my favorites were Moon Rose and Peacock Queen.

This is the kind of rose I like, and putting it with plum is brilliant. I love the Lab's plum note.

I'm pretty sure this one takes the prize as my favorite rose blend.

  12. When this came out I didn't try it because I thought it would probably be like Bonfire Night.

    Nope.

This is kind of a slightly nutty cakey scent with a really nice smoothness from the beer that doesn't really smell boozey. Not really much incense either -- it's mostly a foodie scent.

I'm a big fan of cake scents, and I seriously like this a lot. It doesn't seem to be very strong on me, though. I put on my regular testing amount and couldn't smell it very well, so I put on more. It's still not very strong. So I'll stick to Huesos de Santo and Cake Smash, but this one smells great too. I just wish it were stronger.

  13. I don't smell much milk in this, mostly a soft but salty aquatic. It smells clean and fresh, but not startlingly watery like some aquatics do. It's softer and kind of breezy.

I don't usually wear scents like this, but for me this is definitely one of the more wearable aquatics. You don't smell it and think that it smells like one of those sporty aquatic men's colognes. It's more like you sniff it and think it smells somehow familiar and nice and fresh.

  14. I'll always try anything that has vanilla orchid listed in the notes. This is a good one.

Soft, gentle, feminine floral. Not heady or cloying at all. Just pretty. The amber isn't powdery, and none of the floral notes are obnoxious. It smells rather elegant.

    I like it.

  15. This smells creamy, milky, and soft on me.

Normally I amp soil notes in a huge, huge way, but I don't smell it in this. That's a big plus for me.

It's not really very floral, either.

    Mostly, honey, milk, and musk.

It's much more wearable than the original Milk Moon was on me -- it smells sorta like a softer, toned-down version of that. In fact, after I got a bottle of this one, I was finally able to give up my old Milk Moon 05 bottle.

  16. This is a lot softer and more floaty than I thought it would be.

The lotus isn't strong on me (which is good because that's my least favorite note in the list), mostly it smells like soft, gentle bamboo. It's not bold, it just smells kind of clean and pretty.

I don't smell any cassia bud either, which is weird for me. Usually I am spice notes.

This reminds me of the BPAL blends that are supposed to smell like cotton and bunnies. That's how soft it is on me.

  17. This smells sweet and resiny and dark. And woody and musky. There, is that vague enough for ya?

I'm not sure I can pick out any particular note, but the resins smell a little bit sticky, which is how I like resins to smell.

It smells masculine to me though, so I'll pass it over to my husband and see what he thinks.

  18. This starts out very perfumey on me -- narcissus tends to be a perfumey sort of flower for me. The vanilla in it is really nice, but it never overpowers the perfumey floral scent. I sorta like it, but it just stays a little too floral for me.

  19. This basically smells like all four listed notes equally. Kind of a woody plum wine.

I like it, but I already have a lot of plum scents, and wine isn't my favorite note. So I'll just stick with the plum ones I already have.

  20. I was worried this would be one of those in-your-face florals, but it's more complex than that. It is floral, yes, but it's sweet and has a very nice oakmoss base. Not your run-of-the-mill floral, that's for sure. Just enough fruit in it to keep it interesting. Pretty.
