    Hunter Moon 2007

I was reading the previous review when I realized that I've never reviewed this myself, so here goes: I rarely order lunacies, but when Hunter Moon 2007 was released the description just called out to me and I took a chance on a bottle. I loved it from the start, enough that bought a backup bottle in fact. As it's aged, I continue to love it, and it has stayed very true to when it was fresh. What drew me to ordering it was the description of dry leaves and bonfire smoke, but i've never felt that this was an autumnal scent because I don't pick up either the leaves or the smoke. This has nothing in it like Bonfire Smoke or Death of Autumn, which are my autumn smoke and leaves scents. What I do get though,is a sweet musky wine scent that is excellent for late summer, when the days are still very hot, but you want to start wearing something that gives you that "early autumn" feeling. The wine has never been overly boozy, and I can wear it to work without fear, and it's very well-blended with the sweet musk and other notes. I think it's always been an overlooked scent and I really do love it.

    The Cat

I didn't really get the cedar, just fuzzy musky goodness. This smells like my tortie cat should, and will if I rub just a little on the back of her neck.

    The Court of Honor

The Court of Honor is just too white for me. The topnote, and my initial thought was it has the same note as in Snow White that gives me a headache. I think it will mellow due to the sandalwood, but I decided to pass on a bottle.

    The Great Basin

The Great (Grand) Basin is a very atypical scent for me, but something about it made me buy it. Slightly aquatic- that is probably the spark of electricity, but a soft vanillic musk with the violet leaf coming through. Will be good on a hot summer evening when I don't want something heavy, but still something that is in my familiar range, since I love violets, vanilla, and musk. I may edit this after I give it a good wearing, if I get anything different.

    Little Egypt

Sweet golden resins, with a definite honey note on my skin. I wore this today and it's still going strong hours later, and has stayed true without morphing. I think it will be even better with a little age, but I think it will be a good resin scent to wear this summer- not heavy but still a "me" scent, since I love resins.

    Dolly Kei

Warm vanillic tobacco, but not smokey or cigarette-ish, it's so well-blended that it just damn smells good. When I wore it out to dinner, my sister-in-law said I smelled really good. I'm already regretting that I didn't buy two bottles when I had the chance.

    The Turkish Village

Initial sniff from the tester bottle was such strong coffee that it overwhelmed my nose. Coffee just doesn't work for me, and I couldn't detect any of the other notes, as my nose was stuck on the coffee. Pass.

    The East Indian Palace

This is exactly like what I had wanted Exotic Bazaar to smell like! Spicy, mellow, well-blended golden incense. Absolutely wonderful and I'm already regretting that I didn't buy a backup bottle.

    The Horticultural Building

Very green, squashy, and vegetal for sure! No cheese, unless that was the slightly musky undertone that grounded it. Overall, way too much like sitting in the middle of a vegetable garden for me, but if you like really green scents, this is for you.

    Hellboy

Sniffed this at C2E2 but didn't skin test, since I was pretty much finished. Nice slightly sweet fuzzy musk, and I liked it enough to add it to my future bottle purchase list. Interestingly, Beth told me it's not a big seller and she thinks it is underrated and doesn't get enough love. Think I'll get it with my next order just in case.

    Liz

Made a point to sniff this at C2E2. Unfortunately, the leather note from the bottle sniff overpowered everything else, and it's the kind of leather that I know it amps and smells bad on my skin. Pass.

    The Music of Erich Zahn

I discovered this untried in my imp stash while looking for some "masculine" imps to enable my nephew before I take him to the BPAL booth at C2E2, but realized that it's discontinued so I decided to try it myself. Vetiver is the strongest note for sure, followed by the same black musk as in Dracul. I happen to like vetiver as well as black musk, so not off-putting to me at all. In fact, I find this to be quite similar to Dracul in tone as well as scent. Dracul minus clove, a little less citrus, plus vetiver = Music of Erich Zahn. So for those disappointed that this was dc'd, I suggest that you give Dracul a try.

    Banshee Beat

I was sure that I had already reviewed this long ago, but apparently not. Banshee Beat is every bit as amazing as expected. I adore patchouli, and this is the best patchouli scent that I've ever had. The vanilla sweetens and blends into the patchouli, and it wears so well. I'm glad I have a few bottles and wish that Beth would re-release this amazing scent. GC comparison: I love Goblin, and for a substitute it is the closest thing I have found, but Goblin is no Banshee Beat.

Goblin of Yuletide Yet To Come Atmospheric Spray

Exactly as described. Frankincense and myrrh, resins sweetened just slightly. A great bedtime scent, and when sprayed on my pillow it leads me to sweet dreams.

    Konditorei Atmosphere Spray

I completely forgot to review my decant. It' foodie, at first I wasn't thrilled about how heavy the coffee was but the coffee burns off quickly enough to keep it from smelling burned, and it makes the room smell like the holidays! I took it to work and used it in my office during the holidays this year and received so many compliments about how great my office smelled. Now I'm really sorry that I didn't buy a bottle of it. Maybe one will eventually pop up on the Etsy site....

Oak Leaves and Kyphi Atmosphere Spray

This is so beautiful! I don't really feel like it's just an autumnal scent at all. In fact, it's much less leafy and more like a well-blended, sweet warm incense. I accidentally had it turned the wrong direction and sprayed it on my hair, and OMG I wish Puddin' would turn this one into a hair gloss too. The champaca really comes through, but this is not at all "headshoppy." I wouldn't hesitate to spray this one in my office, unlike some of the other sprays- it's soft enough, warm, sweetish, and so well-blended that I bet it would lead to a lot of compliments. (My office is HR, so I get a lot of employee traffic, and can't count how many tell me my office smells so good when they come in. It's always either due to my BPTP atmo sprays or my BPAL perfume wafting .)
  17. Hot, smoke, fire, a touch of cinnamon or spice, and sweet nuts. I absolutely LOVE this! By far the smokiest scent of all. So glad I ordered a bottle! It has amazing staying power, too.

    Exotic Bazaar Atmosphere Spray

Bought a gobln squirt of this quite a while ago and realized that I never reviewed it. This has everything in it that I should love, and I had expected it to be my pillow spray. I can't quite figure out why it didn't work for me, but it somehow didn't all come together the way I had expected in my head. I used up my squirt, and if another shows up as a frimp in one of my orders I'll give it another try, but so far I'll pass on ordering more. The Unspeakably Evil Temple is more to my liking for my pillow spray.

    Mrs. Palmer's Establishment Atmosphere Spray

I'm always wary of scent with leather, but I loved my decant of The Storyteller's Parlor, so I decided to try a decant of Mrs. Palmer's Establishment. This is so beautiful that as soon as I received my decant I promptly ordered a bottle from the Post! The scent is smoky-sweet, and the leather is smooth and well-worn, like a big soft cushiony armchair that you just sink into. This is an amazing scent to spray in the car. It lingers for about three days before I need to spritz it again- I usually spray it towards the carpet on the passenger side of the front seat. I spend at least two hours daily in my car for my work commute, and this makes me feel so cozy in the car.

Nag Champa scent in a BPAL blend?

stella, I wish it were so. All I get from Khajuraho is soapy rose. Which vintage is your bottle? Mine is an older one, so if yours is the newest version I might have to get one. I love Nag Champa, and so far Urd is my favorite by far.

    Krampus Bath Oil

Be good, or Krampus will toss you in a river! Sinister red musk, black leather, dusty rags, and wooden switches. Disclaimer: I use my bath oils as after-shower moisturizers, for scent layering with my BPAL perfumes and because of how awesome they are at moisturizing. I was initially leery of the leather note in Krampus, but no worries so far. This is another beautiful dark sexy red musk scent, and my skin really amps red musk (but I also get the most compliments when I wear red musk.) So Krampus is mostly red musk, and the leather grounds it but thankfully doesn't have that chemical leather smell. I don't get dusty or woodsy notes, but overall it's hard to pick out anything other than the red musk. In fact, this decant smells so similar to Eldrich Dark that it's very hard to tell them apart on my skin (or in the decant bottle, both color and scent-wise.) I've never smelled the Krampus perfume oil, and am awaiting my decant order of it to compare to the bath oil. After I get that, and if it works out for layering, I might decide to get a bottle, but for now I plan to just stick with my larger bottle of Luxuria for a sexy red musk bath oil. Edited because I did a direct comparison to Luxuria and decided that I need Krampus after all! It's definitely a darker, dustier musk than Luxuria, and I ordered two bottles!

    The Black Temple Burlesque Troupe

I didn't try the earlier version, but after reading all the raves I was determined not to miss it this time and ordered a decant. I was surprised when I tried it, as it reminds me very much of another perfume oil that I have, but I cannot figure out which one. In any event, this is very lemony at first, with the musk and a slight cocoa darkening it. At first, I thought that this was a complete failure, as I don't particularly care for citrus scents, although after about an hour the lemon had dried down enough for the musk to show itself more prominently. Either way, it's just not a "hit" for me, as I have many other scents that work far better.

    Scents for battles in life

Snake Oil and Madame Moriarty for sure, but the one I find really gives me an inner strength and kick-ass feeling is Dragon's Heart. I wear it when I need an extra boost of inner power and strength to face a situation.

    Gacela of the Dark Death

Just like NaiadOrdiad, I also ordered this hoping for something along the likes of The Night Hag Visiting the Lapland Witches. While not the same, Gacela is definitely in the ballpark and I'm not disappointed. This is a dark, smoky scent, with the pine, pitch, and cloves making it a trip through a dark forest, with the clove giving it a holiday feel. Try this if you liked The Night Hag, but also if you liked an earlier Halloweenie, The Hellgate of Ireland. It's got elements of both, though it's not the same.

    Krampus

Red musk, with a non-chemical leather darkening it, followed by the dusty woods. This is gorgeous, and because I amp red musk, not too masculine at all. I don't usually like leather scents, but the leather is so smooth and warm that it blends into the musky woodsy goodness. Love this, and definitely getting two bottles to add to my red musk hoard.
