    Water of Notre Dame

Before you read this, please be aware that I was born of aliens, raised by wolves, and thus react strangely to a surprising number of everyday things. My experience with Water of Notre Dame is a case in point. 1st try - Intense and dizzying. I have to wash it off. I’ll try again some other time, using less. 2nd try - I wanted to compare WND to Dove’s Heart, so tried again, using about a drop. WND is a watery green floral, which I ordinarily like, so I don’t understand what exactly is bothering me about it. It is still a little strong (feels kind of aggressive) and has great throw (which makes me wonder if I reek). 20 minutes later: I notice a sense of calm, even though I am still feeling that irritation whenever I notice the scent wafting past my nose – warring responses, hmmm… An hour later: I am stoned! I feel really, really, really relaxed. My tongue is even a little numb. I am thinking, “Oh, wow! This is a great tranquilizer – maybe I should keep it for medicinal purposes.” I wonder if, with all the relaxedness, my blood pressure has actually dropped. I test to see, and find exactly the opposite has occurred. My eyeballs should have popped out and be rolling around on the floor at this reading. I am still remarkably relaxed, though. I have the presence of mind to thoroughly wash off. No further damage. Whew! I conclude that I am allergic to one or more ingredients in WND. (I should have trusted my nose.) This one will go up for trade – I’m sure someone with a more standard human body chemistry can put it to good use.

    Three Witches

I expected this to be a strong scent, because of the cinnamon and clove, but on me, it is very light, primarily clove. I generally expect clove to be earth-and-fiery, but this seems airy somehow. It makes me want to take very deep breaths, take the scent in, open my lungs up wide. As it dries and fades a bit, I get a very pleasant tickle of the white pepper. I like this, and I'm not sure why, because I don't have a feeling of actually smelling it very much. Next time I'll try putting more on. So, okay, I tried it again. This time I could swear I smelled vanilla, with just a dash of clove and pepper. A couple of hours later it warmed up into a nice cinnamon/clove scent, which lasted at least a couple of hours. Then, the next time I noticed it a few hours later, it had died down to a sweet, musky scent with a hint of mole' sauce. I really liked this, but what the...? Is it my nose? "Well, this is odd", says I. "I'll have to try it again."

    Aunt Caroline's Joy Mojo

This is amazing. I tried it out one evening when I got home tired, liked the soft, sugary scent, and didn’t think much more about it. A little while later I noticed that I was feeling very playful (downright giddy, in fact). My crazy conure thinks this is exactly the right frame of mind, and wonders why I’m not like that more often. I guess now I will be – I definitely enjoyed it, and plan to wear this often – it’s a good thing I bought a big bottle. The next time somebody tells me they don’t believe in magic, I’ll just dab a little of this on them! Hee hee!

    Dove's Heart

Oh, my gods and goddesses, I love this! I decided to try it this morning because I was feeling a little sad after a breakup, and was surprised to find that it improved my mood almost immediately. I have a sensation of being enveloped in (and buffered by) a soft cosmic hug, and that slightly painful, tight feeling around my heart just went away completely. I’m not getting the sadness that some people report – just comfort. The scent is a light floral, but there’s a kind of buttery effect, too – it’s not in the scent, but a sensation in the back of my throat as if I’ve eaten something wonderful with lots of butter in it. A gentle and effective blend – I can’t seem to get enough of it. I am sitting with my wrist in front of my nose, taking long, deep breaths. I will definitely need a big bottle of this. ---------- Update: I tried this again, and it's a little different from the first time, at least as far as the scent is concerned, This time I have a pretty strong herbal lemony component - lemon verbena? lemon squares with tea in the herb garden? - still with the buttery sensation, and most definitely the aura of comfort. Surprisingly, Dove's Heart also seems to be counteracting my seasonal allergic head, which was miserable earlier. Truly awesome. (Announcer's voice: This observation is just an observation, and is not to be taken as a prescription or a claim of medical efficacy.) Dove's Heart is remarkable, quite possibly priceless. I have a big bottle now. I will probably want a bigger one.
