Favorite Scents
Burial is my utmost favorite scent and my very first bpal bottle. Granted I only wear it during the fall and winter. During the summer Bewitched, Lemon Sticky Bat, and Mouse Circus are my go to scents in the summer. I tend to match what I am wearing to my mood/time of year/weather/holiday so slowly I'm busy collecting various scents that fit whatever mood I'm in. :)

12 Days of Xmas Wishlists and Q&A
spookygrrrly posted a blog entry in Spookygrrrly's Tabernacle O'Terror
So here are my wishlists: Ravelry: Username is Spookygrrrly and I have a wishlist bundle for pattern Id like and dont have Amazon: searchable under my email or full name Haul of Gloi: Yule scents that sound yummy are Nefarious Gingerbread Man, Winter Divinity, and Snow Wolf. Especially that Nefarious Gingerbread Man would be great as a perfume oil. I would also like to try their sugar exfoliant. -

I took a risk on getting this because things like fir and balsam don’t usually work on me but I was hoping they would play a minor role. Luckily I was right and it is more spicy sweet with a little woodsy rather than overpowering woods. In bottle: I get the spice and grapes, apple, blackberry the most. Wet: Now more of the “woodsy” scents come out and I can make out the juniper berry and cedar. But it’s more a nice compliment to the already spice and fruit scents and underneath Dry: As it drys it starts to become a fuller scent. The fruit dies down and the clove and woodsmoke finally come out to play. I really like it. Overall I’m very happy I took the risk on this scent and it’s been a favorite for fall this year.

Q&A for 13 Days of Halloween 2017
spookygrrrly posted a blog entry in Spookygrrrly's Tabernacle O'Terror
Here is where I'm answering all the questions for the 13 Days of Halloween swap. I'll keep updating this thread and newest updates will be at the top. **Updated 9/13** Would you like to receive anything related to: Disney? I'm OK with Disneyd If so, any favorite characters? Alice in Wonderland (especially the Cheshire Cat), Malicifent, Snow White's evil Queen, Zero from Nighmare Before Christmas, and anything from the Haunted Mansion And to be more specific about Disney: How do you feel about Beauty and the beast? Not a fan And what about Harry Potter related items? We are big Potter fans in my house. I'm a Ravenclaw (but I secretly think I'm a Huffleclaw). Pokemon? Any favorites? Not into Pokémon Is there any thing, category, or brand from which you would absolutely NOT like to receive things (ie., you're overrun with candy corn, you don't do scents outside of BPAL, or if you ever see another Stephen King item, it will be too soon)? I only buy BPAL but other similar oil based scents are OK. I do not do alchol based scents at all. Bath & Body Works - love them or hate them? If the former, fave product types? I like them. I usually get the shower gel, foaming hand soap, or hand sanitizer. I like their fall/Halloween scents, particularly things with pumpkin, apples, spices, and vanilla. I'm in Japan, is there anything specific from here you would be interested in? Surprise me Is there anything from The Netherlands/Europe that you're interested in? I'm always happy to receive Europian chocolate how would you feel about receiving a hand-painted container for your bpal and/or other treasures? if you are on board with that, would you want a big wood box (~50 bottles), a small wood box (~20 bottles) or a tin for carrying imps around? I can really use something for my imp storage. Especially if it has a way to separate collections or things. I don't need anything for my bottles...already have storage for them. if you were to receive something hand knit, what type of item would you like? hat, cowl, handwarmers, etc. and what color(s)? I'm good but thank you. Nail wraps - yay or nay? Would including a small manicure set to go with them help? I like nail wraps but do not need a manicure set. Do you want wax melts? No thanks, not a fan. Are you okay with homemade food? If you are shipping from the US...sure! If you are outside of the USA please check with US customs. They can get weird about some homemade foods. Mostly I think that pertains to fruits, nuts, and some cheeses. If you are okay with decorations, do you have a preference to table-top, wall hanging or window decorations? Decorations are good. Wall, door, or window decorations are pretty much always good. Table top...I have a cat and limited shelf/table space so while I like table top decorations I can't have a whole logo of them. If it's really awesome I'll find a space though. How do you feel about stationary and/or papercrafting supplies? Honestly I have way more stationary right now than I'm actually using. And I've been getting rid of my paper crafting supplies so please no more. How do you feel about kitschy/silly Halloween jewelry? Not my thing. I won't wear it. Would you like a Halloween wreath? I would like a Halloween wreath. I keep meaning to make one but I never seem to get around to it. What rares are you dying to try??? Alice in the Pumpkin Patch, Snake Oil in the Pumpkin Patch, and Dorian Do you like comic books and/or graphic novels? I do. I don't have any I'm currently following but I like horror comics, and things like Sandman, Johnny the Homocidal Maniac, and Lumber Janes. -

13 Days of Halloween 2017 Questionnaire
spookygrrrly posted a blog entry in Spookygrrrly's Tabernacle O'Terror
Forum Name: Spookygrrrly Allergies, dietary, and lifestyle restrictions: For matching purposes, are there any common allergens in your environment, that might affect matching (pets, smoke, live in a field of ragweed)? We have cats and a dog. I am very careful to make sure pet hair doesn't end up in packages but anyone with bad allergies probably wouldn't want the risk. Do you (or anyone who might come in contact or view of the contents of these glorious packages) have any kind of phobia, trigger, or squick-out which is likely to arise in fall or Halloween-themed goodies (please address concerns over spiders, ghosts, severed hands, etc., here)? Nothing with too many spiders. I am totally fine with spiders but my husband and son are aracnophobic. If they don't look very real that's fine but a fake egg sac would not be. Is there anything (that you know of) which it is illegal to mail to you, or that might cause Customs to become upset and hang on to your package? If mailing to the USA from another country you can not mail any fruit, vegetables, plants, or seeds. You also can't ship nail polish or perfumes containing alcohol internationally. Do you celebrate any fall holidays? Please feel free to place as much info/context as you wish: I celebrate Halloween and Samhain Are there certain things for these holidays--or your general love of fall-- that you would particularly appreciate receiving? I prefer the orange and black vintage halloween type decorations. I also love the classic movie monsters, haunted houses, ravens, and skeletons. Think spooky more than gorey. If you celebrate Halloween, are you dressing up? I haven't decided what I'm doing this year. *What as? Not sure *Would you like costume additions or accessories? No thanks Would you like decorations? Sure Favorite Colors: Green and purple / red and black/ black and grey Least Favorite Colors: Pastels Favorite Flavors: Pumpkin, chocolate, spices, caramel Least Favorite Flavors: sour...unless it's sour apple Do you like coffee and/or tea? Tea! Favorite snacks and treats: I can't think of much to put down because most of my snacks/treats are fruits. Though I do like cookies, good chocolate, and if you are international love to try treats I can't get in the US Favorite scents(both specific notes and perfume blends): To give you an idea my favorite BPAL scents are: Burial, Snake Oil, Gingerbread Snake, Ouija, Womb Fury, and Jack. I tend to go for foodie, spicy, leathery sorts of scents. Rarely do florals except for Jasmine. I LOVE honey notes. Least Favorite Scents: Anything with rose, ozone, or "cold" scents. Do you wear nail polish? Not really. Would you like makeup? Not for this swap as I'm pretty picky with my makeup *If you would like makeup, what sorts would you prefer? *Any favorite makeup brands, colors? *Any hated/not-preferred makeup brands, colors, or products (example: thanks to your sample box of choice, you hope never to see another black eyeliner as long as you live)? Favorite bath and body products? No products for baths because I only have a shower, so things like bath bombs won't work. Hair gloss is good. I like nice soaps too. Personal clothing style: Goth casual...I wear a lot of staple pieces (jeans, leggings, t-shirts, cardigans) but they are usually black...or have bones on them...and it's all about the accessories: shoes, hair, jewelry Do you like jewelry? I do but I'm a jeweler so I tend to just wear my own. Though if you make jewelry I love to have pieces by other jewelry makers too. *If so, what sort? Pendants, bracelets, and earrings *What sizes and/or lengths do you prefer? 18" or longer necklaces, I have a 7" wrist but if it's a bangle with no clasp than it needs to be large, any earrings but wearing more dangly earring lately. Would you enjoy receiving wearables (shirts, socks, shoes, arm/legwarmers, hats, etc.)? hats, scarves, mittens, gloves, and socks are OK *Sizing on wearables: I don't think those really come in sizes. Just general women's sizes. Home style: In progress. We're in the middle of clearing out and reworking things right now. Though I adore Victorian architecture and styling, collect horror memorabilia, my husband is into sci-fi and baseball, and our home is very mid-70's...you can see what I'm working with here. Would you appreciate decoratives or art for your home? No thank you *Are there any restrictions (no naked people, no breakables, that kind of thing)? What sort of music do you like? Most kinds but I listen to a lot of hard rock, goth, punk, alternative sorts of things. Are you okay with burned music CDs? I don't have a way to play them. Do you have VHS/DVD/Blu-Ray...Betamax? DVD & Blu-ray *does your player of choice have region restrictions? Region 1 Is there anywhere that you would like a giftcard or online credit for? Well I'll always take a BPAL gift card! I also like gift cards to Jimmy Beans Wool or Furls Hi! What are your hobbies? Knit/crochet and embroidery Would you like any supplies for your hobbies? Sure. I love cute stitchmarkers. Are there any crafts or hobbies you would like to try out, but haven't yet? I think I've tried them all by now...lol Do you have gaming consoles, or play computer games? Xbox One How about cosplay? I don't cosplay Or tabletop gaming? I occasionally still play D&D but that's about it. Would you like to receive books? Always *what kind of books/format? Horror and mysteries are my two favorite genres, paper or hard back please. How about magazines? I don't really do magazines any more but would make exceptions for Fangoria and Rue Morgue. Or any other horror or knitting magazine that isn't from the US PDFs and craft patterns? I have a Ravelry wish list for the knitting patterns I'd like. My Ravelry name is also Spookygrrrly Are there any other members of your household(significant other, furbabies, small, adorable humanoids, any other awesome person you consider partof your world) who might appreciate a little bit of fall-themed gifting? They get spoiled enough (trust me) this swap is just for me Are you comfortable receiving good/like new condition used items? I'm fine with that What are five inexpensive things you always appreciate receiving? Tea or tea accessories; something with owls, mermaids, unicorns, or sharks; anything Alice in wonderland related; chocolate Please place your wishlists here: Amazon: http://a.co/fgPb7y8(Orsearch under my email address) Is there anything else you would like to say to your swapper? Hi! Thanks in advance for whatever you end up sending me I know I'll be happy with what ever you pick out. Just have fun with it. I absolutely love Halloween, spooky horror movies, and all things fall. So when in doubt if it's something you think is really cool then I'll probably love it too. For our eyes only: Are you willing to ship internationally? Yes With whom have you swapped recently? I haven't swapped in over a year Anyone you would especially enjoy swapping to? N/A Anyone who you would rather not swap with? N/A Do you mind being paired with em or emma2403? Nope, I'd love to -
(2016 Vintage) I missed out on Womb Furie the last couple times it came out....so it was the first thing that went into my cart this Luper! I've been a Snake Oil fan for a while now and practically lived in Gingerbread Snake this winter. Only recently have I gotten into honey scents. So buying this was a no brainer...and Oh my goodness...it is divine scrumptiousness in a bottle! It is what it says it is: snake oil and honey. Actually this is the first time a "honey" scent was so prominent on me. Usually the honey lurks in the background but not this time. The honey is more up front and it sort of "softens" the snake oil. Usually when I put Snake Oil on I have to stay away from people for about an hour for the scent to die down. I don't have that with this at all. It starts off soft but strong and lasts, and lasts, and lasts. I am absolutely in love with this scent!

I *LOVE* this! Dark chocolate and cream undertones. When I first put it on I just something a little floral or sharp underneath. It reminds me of fresh mint but fades into the background. Then it is just a wonderfully rich bittersweet chocolate mixed with rich cream. Not a sweet scent though...more robust. I can see me wearing this a lot.

Review of 2015 version of Ü In the bottle: balsam, leather, and maybe a hint of vanilla in the background Wet: leather really dominates, I get some of the vanilla notes in and out too. Dry down: The leather stays the strongest note, with vanilla in the background, and sort of a dusty note too. I like this as is but will be interested to see how it ages.
-
In the bottle: Light sweet orange and tangerine. Wet: Creamy orange. Kind of like an orange creamsicle. But sugared vanilla too. I don't notice any anise but my husband did so I guess it is in there somewhere. Dry: Vanilla, orange, and cream. I haven't been wearing it quite and hour and it is almost completely gone. It is a sweet and pretty scent but not quite what I expected. The lavender and anise never really came out on my skin and it just doesn't last on me at all. EDITED 2/23/16: I'm not even sure why but I tried my decant at the end of January...basically a month later...and WOW now I get what the other reviewers were talking about. A beautiful blend of tangerine, vanilla cream, and anise. I'm thoroughly in love now and went and got a bottle. Now I'm wondering if I should have bought two!
-
Like everyone else...cranberry, cranberry, cranberry. In the bottle: Cranberry Wet: Cranberry with a bit of evergreen Drydown: Still cranberry! A very nice wintery scent that isn't as common. It is a great day time scent since it doesn't have a lot of throw but still is noticeable and lasted a very long time. Glad I bought a bottle.
-
This is for the 2015 version: In the bottle: Red Musk, vanilla, and maybe some wisps of caramel? Wet: red musk, patchouli, and vanilla. After a bit the honey really comes out. I think this is the most I've ever smelled the honey note in a perfume before usually it gets lost on me. Drydown: Red musk and patchouli all day long. Sometimes the honey and vanilla still show up. I never really got much of the caramel note at all. The throw is strong and it lasted a long time. It reminds me a bit of Smut but that might just be because of how musky this comes out on me.
-
On my Yule "dream list" has been a pomander scent for a few years now. So I happily snatched up a bottle once the Yules came out...even if it was a rapidly disintegrating pomander. In the Bottle: Have you ever smelled a dried slice of orange? That is what this single note smells like in the bottle. Orange citrus but not wet, juicy, and sweet like a fresh orange. Wet: Still mostly orange citrus. Sort of like orange zest but a bit earthly too. That must be because it is disintegrating. I was hoping for a bit of clove but I'm not sure if it isn't there or needs some aging to bring it out. Drydown: Pretty much stays the same from beginning to end. Medium throw but it is a very gentle scent so the throw seems lower than it actually is. I thought it wasn't throwing much at all but my husband let me know that while soft he could clearly smell it while sitting several feet away from me. I like this a lot and can actually see me wearing it when I want a bit of something sunny in the winter without being too sweet. Or in the summer when I like a citrus smell but don't like to smell "sticky". I'll be interested to see if it gets even earthier as it ages.
-
Bottle: light, floral scent. Wet: Reminds me of lily of the valley a bit but I think it is the jasmine, a little frankincense in the background. I don't notice the patchouli at all. Dry down: Now it is mostly jasmine with just a bit of vanilla in the background Since I love jasmine I am happy with this bottle but I wish more of the other notes came out more. I'll be interested to see if this changes as it ages a bit.

Oh Haunted...I really, really wanted to like you. Unfortunately I may as well just wear baby powder for the same effect. Bottle: Smells nice in the bottle. Very warm. The amber comes out a lot with just a bit of musk. Wet: Musk and amber...that turns to powder in about 5 minutes. Meh. Dry down: Yep, all powder. Not unpleasant but not what I am looking for. Also it didn't last very long. Within two hours their was barely any scent at all.
-
For a reference my absolute favorite BPAL scent on me is Burial. I tend to like scents that are either earthy, woodsy (except for pine), a bit smokey or boozy, and some foodie scents. I tend to avoid anything really citrus, ozone, or super light. This is for Samhain 2014 In the Bottle: I can smell the apple and wood. A little bit of the smoke comes through too. Wet: The apple really comes through now. Now sticky sweet apple but the crisp sharp apples of fall. The smokey scents are stronger too more bonfire than cigar smoke. Dry Off: I love this scent! It is perfect late fall days in a bottle. Crisp apple notes mixed with a bit of woods and smoke. Love it. The throw is pretty strong so you don't need to load up. Several Hours Later: After about six hours of wear it starts to powder out on me. Usually I'm not a fan of this but it took a really long time to get to the powdery stage. I still like the scent a lot but would probably just reapply once it begins to powder. This was a huge hit with my husband from beginning to end though.
