    Nemesis

Nemesis and I didn't get along so well, ironically. Really she just has an overwhelming love of Patchouli for far too long for my poor nose and I spent the first fifteen minutes of our little conversation thinking she sort of ..well..stunk. I have to admit the fig and touch of rose were very welcome relief after that and I admire how she softens up a bit. Of course then she kicked my butt with that whip and another reappearance of patchouli. Fickle fickle lady. Complex, interesting but this one is going off to someone who likes getting beat up more than I do

    Ahathoor

One of the stations of the sun that really worked for me, this started off warm and spicey, a touch of incense and warm burning resin. This cools down a little after a bit and I get something almost licorice like. Anise maybe? A touch of carnation? Whatever it is this is somehow spicey and cool at once and I adore the faint sweetness I get from this. It seems a little masculine for me to wear it but I'll be passing it on to one of my friends

    Cairo

Smokey incense, herbal, dry and warm. This is a very soothing, earthy dry scent. I'm not much of an incense fan though so this one won't stick around but I really did enjoy trying it. Warm and vibrant, this wasn't green so much as golden brown in my mind.

    Regan

I get lots of honey out of this, which seems odd to me, but its that same sweet undertone I get in O that really comes out in this scent. Strongly sweet for most of it's appearance on my skin, the orchid slips in and makes this really soft and gorgeous toward the end. It's feminine and lovely and I adore it for that last hour or two but beforehand it's so much like O that I really can't justify buying another bottle. Ah well.

    Seraphim

Wisteria and Frankinscence are the strongest on me for this blend, a lofty, incensy floral that's sweet and bright and uplifting but not overpowering. As this drys down the sandalwood comes into play, adding something a bit softer to this as well. This isn't a playful scent, but it is light and soothing, a beam of sunlight on a warm day and a touch of incense. Lovely but this doesn't last long enough on me to justify buying more

    Water of Notre Dame

Cool, green and aquatic at first, this was very soothing, clear and fresh. One of the aquatic notes in this is one that gives me trouble though and this has turned into a dry, almost powdery floral scent. I miss the green and blue lightness of this from the beginning even though it's still pretty with the powdery smell.

    Manila

I keep telling myself I can't possibly find anymore fruity scents that I'll like. :bzzzzz: wrong answer, thank you for playing, we have some lovely parting gifts for you. I've discovered a serious love for tropical climes in recent years, and this includes tropical scents. This is lush and sugary at first, floral but not flowery, big lush blossoms in greenery. There's a green banana scent under it that while prominant doesn't smell like banana persay to me. It's greener, more earthy, and gorgeous. Crap. Another fruity scent on the short list!

    Grandmother of Ghosts

This as what I previously thought of Anne Bonnie's signature ability to mimic old wood on my skin. The splintered woods are predominant with a sharpness and cut of pepper. At the end of the dry down I start getting some of the peony and florals, thick, rich flowers and not light ones. It's a bit overpoweringly dry and herbal for my tastes despite my love of the wood smell. Off it goes despite this one being a great deal of fun to try

    The Moon

Soft, dry Jasmine and light sandalwood and incense are what I get from this. I think the lunar oil blends have made me associate the moon with more aquatic fresh scents but this is really pretty if drier than I anticipated. Light, mysterious and ethereal while still being feminine. It's also long lasting and stronger than I anticipated.

    Wicked

In the bottle this is all herbal, dark myrrh and a touch of jasmine, very strong and with a lot of backbone despite the floral side. Putting this on, some of the rose starts to come out, making this more feminine. It's a little powdery for me, and a bit unsettling as well. it is however that perfect evil queen scent and I keep waiting for the witch from Snow White to toddle in and offer an apple. Intriguing but not me

What do bottles and labels look like?

The picture's not showing up for me hon

    Ultraviolet

Mint and Eucalyptus gave this a real zing but the violet and neroli never came out on me. This was bright and vibrant, clean and invigorating and fresh. Sadly it lasted all of four seconds on my skin and quite literally one hour later I can't smell it at all. Good for a quick pick me up but otherwise I don't anticipate this one working on me.

    Dragon's Hide

Dragon's blood tends to go very floral on me for reasons I've never figured out. It takes a lot for a blend to get that really spicey, resiny scent everyone tells me I'm supposed to get. This one gets a lot closer since the leather and smoke really add a deeper and more earthy scent to the DB in this blend. Of the Ars Draconis I've tried it's my hands down favorite. It still managed to go a littlle powedery on me later though so I think I'll be sending this one off and chalking it up to "fun to try"

    Chiroptera

This started off with that dreaded lemon over-power but quickly softened into a gentle, light floral. Lots of honesuckle in this for a bit, but in the end it just turns into baby powder and dissapears off my skin. I'm a bit dissapointed as I adored how feminie and light and clean this was in the bottle and at initial application. Alas my chemistry says otherwse.

    Hexennacht (2005, 2016)

If Samhain is the feasting and fires of Samhain Night, then this is the dark run through the woods after, dark, smokey, and a touch of spice but nothing foody about it. This was very dry and herbal when I first put it on but it sweetens into a delicious smokiness as it mellows. I get just a touch of vertiver somewhere in there but not enough to notice unless I'm looking for it (which is great since I hate vertiver!) The final stages of this are a glorious warm, second skin sexiness that's both elusive and mysterious. Loveth my bottle

    Thunderbird

Tons of Ozone and ...well...thunder. The scent of summer storms on the water and the crackle of lightning in the air. This went a little floral on me as it dried down, like a bunch of white flowers soaked after a summer storm. Pretty and refreshing but I'm also rather allergic to it. Gah... figures

    Cerberus

Cerebrus didn't much like me, but not being a dog person this didn't totally surprise me. The cherry chocolate sweetness turned plasticy on me, and then faintly sickly and medicinal. I was rather dissapointed as I was dieing to get some of the combinations in this blend but oh well. Off to swaps!

    Pink Moon 2005

Lots of pink sugar, this smelled like cotton candy in the bottle and while it was still wet on my skin. This softened into a soft floral for a bit and as it progressed the strawberry came in, making this just a little fruity. This was very pretty and sweet, a young girl on like a bright summer day in a field of wildflowers and strawberries. Not quite me however and my chemistry really sort of eats a lot of the notes I liked in it so off this one goes.

    Oisin

Gorgeous, utterly gorgeous. I thought I was going nuts and was wondering why this was so masculine until I read the description. The musk is sparkling and warm, a touch vanilla, but not overly so. As this dries down there's a faint touch of something floral and green but not really feminine, just fresh. I picture Oisin standing in a warm, sunlit field. Loving this but it's masculine enough that I don't want to wear it so I have to find an unsuspecting male to give it to.

    Succor

I would love to say that this worked really well for me but truth be told something in my nose and skin is making this into a very medicinal scent that I can't quite get by enough to actually _use_ it. Straight robitussin cough medicine to my addled brain, I'm sure this has a lot of wonderful herbal qualities but after about 20 years of frequent bronchitis and pneumonia I just can't quite get past that first smell. Oh well

    Corazon

Adoration of this scent is not enough! This is gorgeous, fruity and complex with a touch of sage and lavender to ground that exotic, gorgeous mango scent. I'm really glad I took the chance on this and tried. So far it's been pretty gender neutral actually, despite the somewhat floral ingrediants the sage really adds another level to this and I think it would smell as wonderful on Jake as it does on me. Love it!

    Beltane 2005-06

I was so bloody excited about this I ordered two bottles - and I"m glad I did. A bright, fresh, spring time floral with tons of green. Tulips? Carnations? not sure what sort of flowers but this is definitly fresh and green and light enough to not be overpowering. It's not a white floral, it doesn't waft around, but it is gorgeous and refreshing and very...well.... spring. Mmmmmm.

    Rome

ACK! Wow I've no idea what's IN this that hates my skin so but wow does it hate hate hate. While this is crisp and refreshing in the imp (I was really looking foreward to this as a result) this turns into facial astringent on my skin. Remember the old noxema face cleaning pads? Yah...thats what my stupid skin did to this once refreshing scent. Gack.

    Hetairae

This was a little dustier than I anticipated. Lots of honey and patchouli for a sort of sweet incensey smell. Subtle, feminine, and very intriguing I couldn't stop sniffing and wondering what that wonderful scent was. The fig came in at the end and added something a little earthy/fruity to the mix. Lovely and somewhat exotic while still being sweet.

    The Hanging Gardens

Gorgeous, truely just read Macha's review for a more eloquent version, but this is an extremely well blended, complex, gorgeous vibrant scent. Tons of exotic, lush scents and living flowers. I get a lot of pear one minuted, and then pomegranite, and then fig... it morphs constantly and I love it. Definite big bottle
