Reminiscent of Tricksy, Le Pere Fouettard the first for the foody/earthy balance, Feed Me and Fill me with Pleasure, and Badgers, this is a sweet leathery patch with a dash of nutty goodness. I was nervous that it would be like wezwanie-hold with the strong sweet hazelnut note, but the hazelnut is subtle yet present, much like the almond husk note in Haute Macabre. It has a moderate throw on me, and lasted about 10 hours before fading. Long story short- If you have a bottle of this, you should not even test it. It will hate your skin. You should send it directly to me.

Chaos Theory V: Recursive Self Similarity v4

The bottle says only 5: Lemon? pineapple?-melon-apple! definitely apple-strawberry? pomegranate? snakes... This is not snakes in the garden, but snakes on mount olympus, sipping ambrosia. (Shango is what this is reminding me of) How did I get all these bottles without numbers? This one says simply snake oil CT. It's smoke and ash- Brimstone and snake oil. XLVII: that's just yummy. and a bit wild, and feral. This is Satyr and Snake Oil on me. I kind of want to slather this on a delicious guy and devour him. -

#209 Red musk, a brush of buttery leather, a drop of wine, and frilly vanilla underthings. Yes, yes it is sexy indeed. -

CXXXIV: An effervescent pink scent, fizzy strawberry soda, cherry candy, and the sweet honey of O. It's all the innocence, and only the tiniest hint of defilement. CL: O is here, but this one starts as something woodsy, possibly pine? It quickly dies down to what I'm guessing is sandalwood and a dry resin... myrrh? grounding the sweetness that comes with O. I can't wear O straight up because the honey is overpowering when on my skin. But when it's blended with dry and earthy notes like this, the honey gives it sweetness without being overwhelming. This one is really quite lovely on me, and my skin is finicky enough that really says something! -

A bottle I was frottled: It has no number on it that I can find. A sweet, soft, girly snake oil. Strawberry snakes, this. It starts all strawberry PINK! and that essence stays but is grounded with S.O. for an unexpectedly lovely blending. -
MCCXLVII A sweet, shining berry wrapped in fuzzy soft spun sugar, spiked with something grassy and green which quickly fades, and with a faint musky undertone

wet this smelled like... nothing at all. Seriously, I huffed my wrist and- nothing. Then it dried down and this gorgeous gentle cloud of warm resinous golden sandalwoodsy amber goodness billowed up from my arm. I didn't get any lemon, and I would have called it golden musk rather than black, but it does give an impression of having a touch of subtle, understated leather-ishness to it. Then the floral starts taking over- this lasted all day, and the floral note that started as nonexistent gradually grew over the hours. There are very few florals I can wear, but this is one. I'm almost certain that this flower is vanilla orchid, because as it matured through the day I started getting Clockwork Couture: Female scent memories- which is almost assuredly a combining of amber and orchid. She's lovely, and strong, and unequivocally beautiful.

DIC (599): Holy red fruit, batman! I'm not sure if that's cherry or currant, but it's bright and bold. one drop was strong enough to make me nervous about going to work with it on, because it had throw like nobody's business. The person I got it from described it as Bastet with heavy almond and spices, but my skin drinks up almond and amps cherry, so I'm calling this cherry. 45 minutes later the shiny redness calmed down and it was actually a lot nicer than I expected. A light amber-y musk shows up, and it's a warm and friendly scent that's much much closer to the skin. Still pretty fruity though. I did a side-by-side comparison with Bastet since that's what someone else got from it. I can't say I see it. The amber-musk they have in common, but where that is a creamy almond saffron spice, this is a bright fruit layered over it. For someone who can wear red fruits well, I predict this will be stunning. Moreso than it is on me.

Almost (almost!) every single note of this is gloriously amazing and gorgeous on me, so I HAD to try it and was blessed to receive a tester. No. This is actually a washing it off oil for me. I can tell that all my beloveds are there, but -oh, hello death note!- all I can get is JASMINE. Dark spicy jasmine. *cries* The jasmine did to this otherwise amazingly gorgeous scent what the violet did to Saturnalia for me. All you people for whom a jasmine note does NOT turn into stinky rot on your skin, enjoy this one for me since I can't.

On me, this was a buttery caramel sweet foody blast that was surprisingly in my face. But only while wet. 3 minutes after application, it was completely gone. vanished. I would never have known I put anything on at all. So peculiar! I believe I'll be passing this on to someone who can wear and enjoy it better.

I didn't get the cherry-sweet almond on this. I got a hit of dry almond (raw? husk?) that disappeared almost instantly because my skin drinks almond up- just a hint of it stuck around and what I ended up with was a light sandalwood/almond not quite foody scent with a slightly vanillic feeling, only I got a little hint of anise also. It smells to me like an Italian anise pizzelle if you can take out the buttery-foody aspect of a pizzelle.

CCCLXIV: In the bottle- Snake Oil and... dusty floral? Unsure if I'm going like this, because florals don't like me as a general rule. Wet- Wet on my skin I don't get any floral at all. It's S.O. amped up, as if the vanilla is doubled with first application Dry- This is not the usual creamy-spicy Snake Oil, although it's clearly in there. It has a dusty, dry sort of vanilla to it, and a faint dusty floral is coming out as well. It's the same dry and dusty sort of note as what I've gotten with all of the lace scents, so I'm going to guess this is snake oil with a linen note and a light floral. 30 minutes later: It is maturing more and while the snake oil is clearly present, this wears on me almost exactly as Antique Lace did, with a quiet underpinning of the snake. 2 hours later- moderate sillage, and still an antique serpentine lace on me. I was concerned that the light floral note would come out too much but it hasn't morphed further, settling into a comfortable snaky lace. 4 hours later- Still consistent, still moderate throw 8 hours later- Impressed by how long it lasts and stays true 14 hours later- So Snake Lace has astounding staying power! It was quietly classy and the tiniest hint of sensual ALL. DAY. LONG- and then into the night. I would strongly recommend this one to the lace lovers. It is a work of art. I don't feel I actually wear the lace blends well myself, but I can definitely recognize beauty in them when I smell it. And this one has it. Verdict: Snake Lace- classy, understated, and the sensuality of a peep of ankle beneath the antique gown -
SO weird. I got two bottles, and they both smell drastically different. One is all dark leather and musk and metal and *faints* delicious to me. It's like leathery Smut with a hint of metallic edge to it. The other is... a wine scent? It still has hints of leather, but it's really purple and sweet and smells like other wine notes I've tried from the lab. Unfortunately, I don't get along very well with wine, and to my nose (and my daughters) most purple/fruity/wine notes come across as grape cough syrup. and cough syrup spilled on a saddle isn't quite my thing. I think I'll be hoarding the one bottle and finding a new home for the other, hopefully with someone who likes purple.

Rhinotoros, on me, is the darkness and depth of my beloved Malediction. Only it also has the zing of grapefruit and pepper that flashes through at unexpected moments. It doesn’t seem to blend into one cohesive scent to me so much as it presents as a lovely dark with piercing rays of light shining through.

Omg. Graveyard dirt in a candle! With some stone and some green. I think I really need four or five more of this candle! To my nose, this is Placophobia in a candle. It's amazing- dirt, and rock, and moss. Lovers of the BPAL dirt and stone notes should run, not walk, to get this! It fills my home with a scent that makes me think of digging my fingers into soil and planting - I guess planting flowers at a grave site. I think I'm in love, and need many more of these!

Holy RUM! Sweet buttery rum all over the place. Ok... give it a while to calm down- I'm testing this sprayed over my bed, so the sheets will tell. a couple hours later, it is a vague but pervasive dark dirtiness with just a hint of sweet rum. I like it better now. It is creating the atmosphere without being in-your-face about it. Now, I just need my husband to charge in filthy from work and with a slight hint of rum on his breath to ravish me on this bed. Oh, did I just say that aloud?

This is no mere leather. On the skin, it shifts and morphs to encompass all the forbidden lusts that leather can embody. A new flogger- soft, full, and heavy, rubbed against the face. Inhale. Sink into the scent, the texture. A soft, heavy blow, deep, rich and vaguely sweet and spicy. The sharper, harder scent of the tightly plaited whip, wrapped around the throat. slipping through a shimmering damp cleft. The oil has an edge to it- the hissing of the whip as it parts the air, the sharp crack, the sting of lash on flesh, and the radiating warmth pulsating out. After a few hours, it is soft, buttery, and supple. The sort one would want encircling wrists, ankles, throat, and would never want to be without. This is a sadistic, sensual, sharp and stunning sort of leather, perfectly named.

"I don't care, Marya Morevna. Kiss him. Take him to your bed, and the vila, too, for all it matters to me. Do you understand me, wife? There need never be any rules between us. Let us be greedy together; let us hoard. Let us hit each other with birch branches and lock each other in dungeons; let us drink each other's blood in the night and betray each other in the sun. Let us lie and lust and take hundreds of lovers; let us dance until snow melts beneath us. Let us steal and eat until we grow fat and roll in the pleasures of life, clutching each other for purchase. Only leave me my death — let me hold this one thing sacred and unmolested and secret — and I will serve you a meal myself, served on a platter of all the world's bounty. Only do not leave me, swear that you will never leave me, and no empress will stand higher. Forget the girls in the factory. Be selfish and cruel and think nothing of them. I am selfish. I am cruel. My mate cannot be less than I. I will have you in my hoard, Marya Morevna, my black mirror.” ― Valente, Deathless Because when I wear this scent, I become Marya Morevna. I am bold and beautiful, compelling and addictive. I am pain and pleasure and passion. I am darkness and desire. Deeply hypnotic shimmering resins, a tantalizing taste of spice, the feral abandon of patchouli, the aching lustful desire of musk, and the corrupted slap of dark leather. A stunning work of art in scent.

Spanked. A hard, smooth, leather covered paddle. A hand on the neck. A whistle through the air. A sharp impact. Then a tingly, spicy cardamom warmth radiating out through the skin from the spot of the strike. The swooning, reeling, drunken, boozy rush of dopamine as it surges through the brain and the body. The flushed skin, panting breath. "Thank you sir. May I have another?" Spanked. Yes, please. *I may or may not have 4 bottles and two candles in this scent. A lady doesn't tell such things.

In the bottle, this has a resinous sort of quality with a sharp herbal bite. On me, it stayed true from wet phase through drydown and beyond. It's a gorgeous, pure caraway- dry, woodsy and spicy and a little nutty with a hint of resin. Maybe a little bit the feel of hay, as well. Catching whiffs of myself over the last few hours, I can't decide whether I smell like an herb garden at the edge of a field in the hot summer sun, or like I've just walked into a kitchen filled with hot caraway rye bread fresh from the oven and steaming with melted butter on it. Regardless, it's delightful. I'm not sure I see myself wearing this as a skin scent, but definitely would use it in a warmer!

Wet: I smell like a handful of starburst candy! Sweet and fruity. As it dries down, it takes on a rosy floral hue, mingling sweet and honey and fruit with soft flowers on the breeze. The honey isn't coming across as sweet and cloying as usual on me. This scent is a list of notes that don't normally work on me, but the way they're blended together in this one- it works pretty well. I've actually had comments on this one. I'm not head over heels in love with it, but it's remarkably lovely on me- for the first 30 minutes. I suspect the myrrh is what was holding the blend together for me, because my skin eats it up. And after about 30 minutes, this scent morphed to a melange of some of my top death notes- floral/rose, red fruit, and honey. It was gorgeous while it lasted, though!

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?

Hmmm. I've got all of these in decant form to test for similarity. You all are wonderful! -
I usually amp ambers and fig. I have to admit, I was hoping the tamarind and patch would be more prominent on me, but they are hiding in the background once on my skin. On me this is a gleaming amber and a dried dusky fig- it's lovely as a scent. Fig isn't very much my friend, though.Sad about that. eta: 12 hours later, it has staying power, but it morphed from the dirty fruit and shining amber dual note of the first 45 minutes. Now it is creamy, earthy (not in a dirty way but a sexy way), and just hints around the edges at a fruited sweetness. I find myself falling more in love with it the longer I wear it, as the edges come off the individual notes and they swirl together into pure mystique. I suspect this is one that will age beautifully. Thank you Suedonym for the chance to try this!!!

Because my word I love Fetish.Goth. it is hoard worthy for me. And some people have fallen in love with it on me. But I'm not willing to surrender and share the bit I've got. And it isn't necessarily the easiest oil to find. So I figured I could make some suggestions of GCs with notes in common. (or currently available LEs) but I'm drawing a blank. Any recommendations? -
The Wild Men of Jezirat al Tennyn (2006)
Ordo_ad_Chao replied to Heretic's topic in Carnaval Diabolique
Fiery, primal, and precociously diabolical: red amber, Spanish moss, Indonesian patchouli, ambergris, red pepper, two cloves, and vanilla flower. ooh. This is yummy. In a wild, untamed man sort of way. On my skin the amber goes powdery and the ambergris amps up, but I can pick up the earthy spicy wild sexiness. Eh, that's my crazy skin.It dries down to a clove-patch for me. I think I have just the man to put this on, because his skin would probably be perfect, as is his personality. I should make sure it's ok to devour him before I do so...
