I wanted to like this, since I love mint But I don't get any of that at all, or even the juniper...so that cloyingly sweet scent must be the lotus, which does not like me at all. In fact, I think it's giving me a headache... not a keeper

Wow this is a morpher on me. I absolutely hated it in the bottle - it reminded me of an old art teacher from when I was a kid, who was slightly hippie-ish and reeked of cigarette smoke - but I decided to try it anyways. Initially on my skin, it was only slightly less gross... I'm not experienced enough to tell the notes apart, but overall it was much too bitter and spicy for me. But it all changed after a minute or so! I definitely get the rose otto now, in fact it's almost all I smell, apart from something dry and incensey lurking in the back. It's actually really nice, but I'm not sure if this is what it's supposed to smell like - I tend to amp rose, and all the rose blends I've tried so far (London, The Rose, Wanda) all smell the same to me. Boo. The verdict - it's nice, I guess, if I can overlook the horrible beginning. But it's probably that icky bitterness that prevents the later stages from becoming just boring old roses. I'm on the fence with this one haha

General citrus recommendations - and discussion of all things orange
serin replied to UltraViolet's topic in Recommendations
Hi everyone, longtime lurker and forum/perfume newbie here! So I just received my first package of imps in the mail, which included Manhattan (lemon) and Aizen-Myoo (various citrus fruits). I absolutely love lemons, oranges and the like, but neither smelled the way I hoped they would I get the amber, wood and orchid in Manhattan, and on me Aizen-Myoo is a cloyingly sweet fruit scent- neither had the zest or fruit rind bitterness I was so excited for. What other scents should I try in my next order? Is my nose sadly un-functional? Or should I just accept that my skin chemistry is not meant for citrus scents? (In addition, I like spicy/woody/aquatic scents, florals not so much.) Any recs are greatly appreciated!
