I don't know if different metals would change the scent at all.
I use little bits of cotton pads (like the cotton squares you buy at the grocery store for putting toner on you face or whatever). I am going to get a new locket that has bigger openings on the front and I'm thinking I'll use tiny pieces of black felt to put the scent on.

Wow, I can't believe how different this can be on different skin!
I had put off trying this because I was expecting something really woody (from other reviews), but I finally tried it tonight and can't believe how different this is from what I was expecting.
This has a wonderful green herby rose scent. It's really nice, and totally unexpected. This will be nice for spring.

I too am a scent eater (Alas!).
I have found several with good staying power (usually you will have to reapply more often for throw). Putting some oil in your hair is a good idea too...
The oils that last a decent time on me and have somewhat lasting throw are:
Euphrosyne
Rose Red
Fenris Wolf
Pannychis
Snow Moon
Dragon's Heart
Others that last a long time but don't really have a lot of throw (at least on me) are:
Haunted
Lolita
Mata Hari
Good luck. Every oil works on people differently, so you really just have to try a whole bunch and see what works for you and what doesn't.

I have recently discovered scent lockets (duh!) and am quite fond of them. It's interersting to wear oils in them, and its an entirely different experience for me to judge oils by their initial scent rather than the dry down (because they're only wet for a few minutes). I'm going back and trying to remember which were nice wet (like they would be in a scent locket).
Anyway,
I was wondering which are your favorites for scent lockets. I'm planning on ordering a bottle of Dublin for it because I liked it wet- I was so sad when I tried it a while ago and loved it at first, but it dried down to a powdery mess on my skin.
I would appreciate your advice!

Does anyone know of a GC that's similar to Snow Moon? I am in love with Snow Moon and am tring to track down more bottles, but I would appreciate any GC reccomendations!

This may be my favorite BPAL oil.
Wet it is strong pine (real pine, not like an air freshener, but like standing in a cool pine forest)
As it dries it takes on such a depth of beauty. Flowers come out against the scent of cold woods. It's just wonderful.
It also has good throw for a few hours, I don't have to keep smelling my wrist to get the scent, it wafts around me. I just love this! Now to find some more bottles....
-
This is amazing.
I love tea scents, but I haven't had much luck with them recently (Dorian was a mess on me).
This is the most unique BPAL I have tried. I wasn't sure what the linen note would be like, but it's just wonderful. Everything blends together in this so well. It also lasts a decent amount of time on the skin. Very nice.

This is wonderful!
I was very much excited about getting this oil. I tried it as I was testing a few different scents and I was dissapointed in how perfumey this smelled- not at all what I expected.
A couple days later I decided to give it a fair trial, and I am so glad I did.
It starts off kind of perfumey smelling (gosh, I am so spoiled by BPAL!), but as time passes it turns into such a beautiful scent! After about 4 hours it changed again into this warm comforting scent almost similar to the dry down of White Rabbit (I know that sounds strange).
It also lasted a good long while (which is rare for me). I love this! When I first put it on I was sure it would dry down to a powdery mess, but I was very wrong.
This is a definate 5ml in the future.

I have been putting together a bottle order and thinking of springesque scents and it got me to thinking... What scents are perfect for each month or are fitting for each month. I would be interested to hear your ideas!
My list:
January: Snow White
February: Rose Red (with valentines day and the like)
March: Szepasszony (cool and wet with a touch of flowers
April: Amsterdam (green grass and tulips)
May: The Unicorn or Lady of Shalot
June:?
July: Bon Vivant
August: Pannychis (jasmine is such a humid sort of scent)
September: The Lion
October: Verdandi
November: Fenris Wolf or Haunted
December: "insert Yule blend here"
What do you think?

Dublin is amazing for the first hour or so (at least on me), but dried down to a powdery perfumey sort of scent. I wish it could have stayed how it was in the beginning, because that first hour was really wonderful...
REVIEWED AGAIN:
Well, I swapped away my original imp but later decided I needed more Dublin... It still turns powdery on my skin after awhile, so I've started wearing it in a scent locket and it's beautiful all day. I don't get the Christmas Tree scent but rather a bit of the birch from Snow Moon. This is also fantastic on my pillow at night... I sleep really well with it, like I'm sleeping in an enchanted forest or something. This is a scent I think I'll be able to wear year round... it's just beautiful.
-
This is a very energizing fresh scent.
It seems to me to be a mix of Szepasszony and Lightning. It has the clean crispness of Szepasszony (but without the flowers) and a bit of the electric tinge in Lightning.
-
This is just beautiful. Clear, crisp and clean, with a light tough of flowers. It reminds me a bit of sea of glass, but without the hard electric sort of tinge sea of glass has...
This is the smell of February turning into March. I think I may need more of this.
-
This smelled beautiful when I first put it on, but 15 minutes later it went plastic on my skin, maybe it was the lily...
-
I am very fond of roses, and I like dragon's blood, so I had thought I'd love this...
When I first put it on it smelled like rose candies, which was ok...
20 minutes later it morphed into rose bubble bath. Not good.
It seems Rose Red is the only rose scent my skin loves.

I'm glad I found this thread!
I am about to place a large bottle order and was looking for a spring like scent, but one with some lasting power. I think my favorite spring scent to far is Amsterdam, which is really spring in a bottle, but it only lasts about a half hour on my skin.
Anyway, do any of you know of any long lasting (somewhat at least) spring esque oils?
Thanks!!

Fenris Wolf is just what I was hoping it would be!
When I first put it on it was quite masculine, but 10 minutes later it has mellowed into a warm light woodsey scent- not masculine at all. Very nice and comforting!
-
I like Dragon's Blood resin, but this smells like I've bathed in maraschino cherries. Not good. It must be the honey- I have really bad luck with honey scents, and this is another one. Alas...
-
When I got this I was worried about the cherry, but I love Dragon's Blood and like cloves...
When I first put it on I smelled a strong cherry. I was not pleased. However, a couple minutes later the cherry is gone and I smell the clove. This reminds me of Dragon's Heart but with more spice. This will be good for fall.

This smells of orange oil and patchouli, a combination of essential oils I used to wear long ago before I discovered BPAL... It's not unique enough for me.
hmmm....

Euphrosyne
in Excolo
I love this oil, and it lasts a really long time on me (which is quite rare). I think jasmine and vanilla are the main notes for me, and it dries down after several hours into a warm vanilla amber-ish scent that reminded me very much of The Lion (it's almost like getting two different oils in one).
I think I'll be ordering a bottle of this one. It has some throw too, and as it dries down it keeps much of it's strength.
Very nice!

This is a very comforting scent. It almost makes me thing of browned Meringue topping (in a good way). That makes it sound very strange, but there is a definate sweetness to it.
-
Yggdrasil is wonderful. I had tried Hamadryad and was so sad that it smelled only of sweet cinnamon on me- well this is the scent I was hoping for. It's just lovely. I only wish it didn't fade so fast (not that that's anything new). Something in it reminds me of the spicey herbiness I love in Verdandi (one of my favorites).
-
I was so impressed with the reviews of Rose Red that I bought a bottle... Well, I was not dissapointed! When wet, Rose Red smells kind of sharply green on me (the first time I put it on I said, "oh no! why can't it smell nice on me!), but it dries to the most beautiful rose scent I have ever smelled. It's not at all powdery or old ladyish or fake smelling or potpurri smelling. It's just wonderful, like a real freshly picked rose.
It also lasted a decent amount of time on me. After about two hours it faded a bit, and I was afraid it would be gone, but the light subtle rose scent lasted for hours longer.
-
Mara Hari is a very unique blend.
Wet, it smells like wood and coffee with jasmine, but it dries down beautifully. The most impressive thing about it is it's staying power. It really lasts all day on me (which is very rare).

This is amazing. I am always amazed at Beths skill. This is the scent- the real scent- of a field of sweet flowering grasses after a storm. It is beautiful. Green, but not in the typical way, flowery, but not cultivated flowers. Very wild smelling.
I'm so happy I bought a bottle of this unsniffed!
Also, I don't see the similarities between this and Queen Mab on my skin. Queen Mab (unfortunately) turned uck on my skin...
I put some on my pillow last night because it smelled so outdoorsey and wild, but then I had a nightmare about tornadoes! This might not be a good scent to go to sleep with...
