The scent of lavender is associated with air, Mercury, and cool-headedness. You might want to try this one, which seems to fit "old English botanist" pretty well too: Arcana - "The essence of magickal enigmas and long-forgotten esoteric mysteries. Frankincense, rosemary, lavender, neroli, and verbena." Edited to add: Check the Sales/Swaps forums for fellow Canadians.

I think you would love Courtney. Reviews here: Courtney -
It's an Unreleased But Available TAL. http://www.bpal.org/topic/25516-unreleased-but-available/ You can order from the regular TAL address and just put the name of the oil in your order comments.

This is a job for TAL Nocturne. Seriously, it's really effective.

This is not one I wear very often, but there's nothing like it to warm me up on a super-cold winter day. It smells like my grandmother and her friends, lavishly dressed, coming into a warm New York apartment for a party on a cold evening. All the rich perfumes mingle with the coffee and roses and there's this swath of old-fashioned festivity.
-
The drydown reminds me of my beloved super-rare Buck Moon! It has the same soft Egyptian musk note. The top note is a bracing cold pine.
-
Go To Sleep, Darlings is a pretty one in this year's Yules. It's like Snow White with a soft mintiness.
-
I get the iced peat note most of all, along with something like the green cognac of Summer Lace. There's a woody warmth waiting in the background and just a tinge of musk. It comes on strong but fades fairly quickly.
-
The pomegranate, amber and saffron in the description gave me hope that this could resemble my super-rare BPAL favorite, Queen of Clubs. Could it? Not initially. It smells more like The Kingdom of Sweets, all tart fruity candy. BPAL's pomegranate note does that to me sometimes. Then I get the darker fruitiness of the plum: better. The scent when it dries down is warmer and more ambery but that sweet-tart pom note is still there, and I can't catch the saffron, frankincense or limonite accord. The saffron and frankincense may even be contributing to that enduring "bright" scent impression. Not much resemblance to QoC. It's pretty close to SN Pomegranate on me.
-
Spanked reads as leather and pepper to me; the cardamom has that bite.
-
In all my years of BPALdom, there've been only a handful of scents I've felt compelled to buy a second bottle of after using up the first one. Insupportable Misery is one. It's fresh and deep, floral and smoky, and yes, a bit lemony too, though that gives way to the saffron aromatic sweetness on drydown. Lilac is the easiest note to pick out, but really everything is beautifully blended into a soft violet-grey cloud of gorgeousness. Mmmph - can't stop huffing my wrist!
-
I went with Graveyard Dirt for Halloween. I'm testing September Midnight now, thinking of wearing it to a Day of the Dead party tonight.
-
The way this morphs is fascinating. Wet, it's a dry woody perfume with an ozone edge. I worry that it may give me a headache, and I can't smell the pomegranate at all. Then the oakmoss comes out and the ozone fades away. On drydown, there's the pomegranate in soft oakmoss with subtle hints of resins that make me want to huff my wrist. This will definitely be an evening dress-up kind of scent for me.

Summertime Blues 2013 - Switch Witch help - updated 7/13/13
Mountaingrrl00 posted a blog entry in Mountaingrrl's Blog
I will edit this as questions come in. Wishlists I don't think the links worked in my questionnaire, so here they are again. Amazon Wish List BPAL Wish List (including SW/SF Help): BPAL Wishlist http://www.bpal.org/...935#entry404935 Think Geek Wishlist Additional questions Dr. Who? - Not into it. How much do you like lipbalm? Flavored or unflavored? What are your favorite brands and flavors? I like lipbalm a lot! Flavored, definitely. Some of my favorites are Alba Botanicals, Bonne Bell. Unknown natural/indie are cool too. Tropical flavors, nostalgic candy flavors, weird flavors. SPF is good. Do you like and wear lipgloss? If yes, what colours? I do! I've been into the Revlon Lip Butters lately. I like a variety. Warm, bright, sheer colors are easiest on me (current favorites are Juicy Papaya and Candy Apple) but occasionally I find a great brown or a fuchsia that goes with my coloring. The ones that never look good on me are pastels, beige or glitter. For those of you whose wishlists contain only BPALs, are there any other perfume companies you like or would like to try out? For Strange Women, CB I Hate Perfume. Your feelings on Adagio teas: If you've never had anything from them, would you be open to trying them? If you HAVE had them and like them, name some favorites blends. And if you had them and dislike them, can you name a few *other* tea companies you're into? I haven't had Adagio teas. I'm open to trying them. I'm lazy and prefer teabags. I like robust black teas like Assam, or minty/tart tisanes to make iced tea. What about coffee? I'm pretty loyal to the local fair-trade roaster Just Coffee for stuff I make at home. I also like espresso drinks when I'm out and about. Who is your favourite female of all time? Historical, literary, ANYTHING, and why? If you were a Disney princess you would be?: Rapunzel, natch. Seashell from Florida? That would be cool. What craft project do you currently have on your docket or that you want to start? And that craft goodies would be welcome? Historically I have not been very crafty, but I might like to try making cigar-box stringed instruments. Oh, or repainting my living room with milk paints. If you could have one rare BPAL, what would you choose? Tarot: The Sun. Are you kinky? Well, I'm eccentric. Do you enjoy scented candles? Certain sizes that you like? What kind of scents or brands? I can't have them; they bother my cats. Thoughts about South Africa? Have you been here, would you like to go? Would you like to receive anything South African? Friends who've been there tell me it's beautiful. I'd enjoy receiving local natural or cultural items if my Switch Witch is South African. Sock Dreams? I like socks, especially cotton or silk ones. Calf or knee lengths work best for me. I dig stripes, funky patterns, neutrals and reds. Do you need hair accessories? If so, what kind or color? Yes! Silk/satin hair ties, seamless scarves, hair forks, hair sticks, anything else you know of that can comfortably and gently contain massive amounts of hair. (Mine is between waist and hip length, thick and curly.) What is your favorite shade of blue? Midnight blue! I also love robin's egg blue, turquoise, indigo, ultramarine, cobalt. If you were to start learning something new (intellectual or craft or hobby), what would it be? Educational theory. Grant writing. Music therapy. Latin percussion. Comedy writing. Music production (actually planning on taking an online course this summer.) Web design. Coding. The list goes on .... Candy? Only in small quantities. I am partial to intense black licorice, violet candies (violet creams!), and cinnamon swirl caramels. Oh, and I'd love to try the BPAL candies! Especially the Lupercalia ones. E-reader? I don't have one. Kitchen gadgets I don't have any. If your witch is an extremely crafty sort, and she were to send all kinds of homemade foody goodies and handmade crafty stuff - what are items you would NOT LOVE to receive. Please don't hedge on this one...some of us are serious crafters and will be making most of what we send! Items I would NOT love to receive are knitted things (my mom already knits me a ton of stuff) and decorative-only crafts. [ See next question for exception! ] As for food, nothing very perishable -- I'm just one person and don't want to waste your homemade treats. Do you welcome knitted items? If so, what would you like most? (amigurumi, washcloth, socks, shawl, shawlette, scarf, wrist warmers, hat, etc.) Do you have any favorite fibers? How about any fiber allergies? Favorite color for knitted items? Having said the above, I realize there is one thing I like that my mom doesn't knit me, and that's silk-lined hats! A slouchy beret in linen, cotton, bamboo or some combination, with silk sewn inside to protect my hair, would be very welcome. Favorite colors for knitted items: black, natural, lavender, burgundy, deep blues. Video games? Not so much these days, although if you have recommendations for good music/piano education ones to use in my profession, I'm all ears. Do you have something you do, without fail, as a personal daily habit/ritual? Writing by hand, walks. Do you wear nail polish? What colors do you tend to go for? What are your favorite brands? Are you open to trying indie brands? I wear polish on my toes in the summer. Colors I tend to go for are neutrals, plum, lavender, peach, burnt orange, turquoise -- and bright colors and unconventional colors in general. I'm partial to Zoya. I like little sample bottles as it takes me a long time to go through a bottle of any one color. I don't like glitter or texture effects. Indie brands are cool. Name three BPAL scents you have tried, but are dying to get more of. TKO, Madagascan Vanilla Rum, Passion Flower Do you still write real letters on nice stationary to people you like/love? Yes, on special occasions. Have you ever tried anything from Paintbox Soapworks? Which products or scents would you prefer? Never tried. The Gingermilk, Miss Ada and Little Paper Umbrellas solid scents look nice. Do you like/have space to garden? If so, what do you grow? I don't do much of it at home these days (I have one little tomato plant). I subscribe to a CSA and sometimes help with that. Do you like sample sized things? Think lip gloss, mascara, body lotion, scrubs, mini candles, and so forth. Yes, samples are fun. Have you tried Fortune Cookie Soap? What products or scents would you like? Never even heard of it! I'm not much a soap person, evidently. Do you use solid soaps at all? If so, what kind do or don't you like? Not really. Have you ever tried Cocoa Pink? If you are curious about it, what looks interesting to you? Not tried. Do you like Lush? If so, what is your favorite product that is currently available, also, what is a product that you love but has been discontinued? I like their citrusy shower things, the toothy tabs, and the lip scrubs. Shiro cosmetics? Eye pigments? I do better with cream eyeshadows. As I am in Japan, what sort of things would you like from there? Clothing, artwork -- anything unique to the country you think I'd like. Do you read literature/culture blogs or websites of any kind? I'm thinking about anything that would help a putative witch to get a sense of what your current tastes in books, movies, games, genres, approaches to culture and literature and so forth are. Hmmm ... I don't think I read any such sites regularly. Since FB and the FB Gusp group (and the BPAL Sorority which is quiet) have become gathering places...what are some of your favorite Facebook pages you like? I go on Facebook to communicate with friends and/or play Scrabble. How do you feel about traditional picnics (namely the intimate table for two variety)? Old-fashioned basket or something more utilitarian (cooler/insulated bag)? I love picnics! Utilitarian works best for me. If you were put in a room with 100 random other people the same age and sex as you, from your country, in what way do you think you would be different from the average? Self-employed, never married, no kids (nor grandkids, natch.) Third-generation American. I've been a radio host, a model, a legal assistant, a farmhand, a bookstore manager, and a door-to-door fundraiser, among other things. Skipped a grade of school in a new country. Was arrested with Casey Kasem. Started a music career in my 40s. I teach 8-year-old girls to be rock stars. Are there any companies, products, or items you boycott? I try to buy local and/or indie when applicable. I keep an eye on sustainability and labor practices as well. Which reading level do you prefer to read in -- YA or Adult? Or even both? Both. I haven't been a YA for ages now, but I still enjoy reading good YA fiction on occasion. (Feed by M.T. Anderson was a favorite.) And I would love to be introduced to more good adult fiction. Haus of Gloi did a Reverie update! Do any of them interest you? (Or anything else up currently?) I was unfamiliar with them, but the Perfume, Made For You interests me. Witchee, do you cook? Do you do all the cooking? Is it a chore or a pleasure? I do it all, and it's a pleasure. I just made a green salad with dill and fennel vinaigrette, mixed nuts and dried cranberries, and am now steaming some fresh asparagus! What colors/style is your kitchen decor? And do you entertain in your home? I have an itty-bitty nondescript kitchen. I don't entertain in my home, except for picnics in the backyard. I do have a few assorted Fiesta Ware plates I like. Are your ears pierced? Yes, one in each earlobe. Do you like stuffies/stuffed animals/art doll type thingies? If so, any particular type you'd love to get? Not for me, thanks. Switch Witch is, of course, all about you.....but if your Witch was so inclined, are there wee little ones in your home that will get jealous and are just too young to understand why you won't share the love, who maybe need a touch of Witchee love all their own, to distract them while you hide all your lovelies?!? My cats don't get jealous of SW -- only of my computer screen! And they'll probably make any Witchee boxes into toys. Questions: If you knew you were going to live comfortably for say 800 years, what profession, calling or project might you pursue with some of your extra years, which you imagine you may not do in the life that you have? Is there any thing - an object, a donation on your behalf, some research done for you, whatever - that your witch could do about this that you would like? And if you can't think of a present, would you rather she/he (I!) didn't either and confined themselves to things you are already involved in? Can't think of anything at the moment. Will come back to this. Would you be interested in someone writing out for you a favourite recipe, or finding or devising one which they think you'd like? If so, please provide your favourite ingredients, info on how you like to cook/store and use food, and any intolerances - unless all of these are in your questionnaire, or you don't like the idea. (I'm not saying I'd definitely do this, unless someone is keen, and it wouldn't be the only gift). I guess for other witches this might include something like a knitting pattern - not my thing but would you like that? Or indeed would you like a picture created for you (if so what kind) or a story written? Hmmm, it could be interesting for you to write a story or song lyrics based on what you know about me, if you're into that kind of thing. Do you like bags? If so, what type (rucksack, clutch, shopping bag) colour and would you like/need a new one? My current bag is actually wearing out, so a new (or sturdy used) one would be welcome. I like messenger bags and duffels. I carry a mini-laptop and music books in my bag as well as the usual stuff like lip balm and vitamins, to give you an idea of the size/shape. I'm pretty open on color as long as it fits with my tastes generally. What's your favourite comfort food (snack or candy etc) and/or drink? Tamari rice crackers, mixed nuts with dried cranberries, fruit juices mixed with sparkling water, ginger beer, swiss cheese. Would you like anything from an European country? Any particular food or goodies, magazines, books, whatever would be available to your witch in his/her country. Yes, that would be great! Anything that's unique to my witch's country would be of interest. If you're in Germany, my English friends tell me you get the best black tea there. If you're in France, I used to live there and miss many things -- see the creme de marrons question further down this list. What fandoms do you belong to? I don't really belong to any fandoms. What cheers you up? A good cup of coffee, a clean house, a massage, a day in the country, the smell of fresh citrus, a walk with a friend. Do you like tarot cards, pendulums and rune stones etc? If so, what type? I like tarot cards. I have a Motherpeace deck and would like to try working with a traditional Rider Waite deck as well. Who or where would you most want to haunt? Who would you least want to be haunted by? I'd most want to haunt the house I grew up in. I can't think of anyone I'd want to be haunted by, let alone who least. 0What question do you hate to answer? I'm an introvert. I don't like questions that invade my personal space (especially in person.) What is the best compliment you have/could receive? As someone else mentioned, laughter at my humor -- I like it because it's immediate and hard to fake. I also like when someone appreciates my songs on more than one level. Witchee, I know that SW isn't about what you get... but could you name one thing you would be heartbroken not to get and one thing you would be a-ok if it didn't make it in your box? (i.e. do you REALLY want perfume oil of some sort, or would you be totally heartbroken if there was no Lush in your box, etc) I'd like something personal in some way - a sense of who my witch is, and that she gets who I am. Okay, and at least one little thing that smells good. It would be a-ok with me if there wasn't tea (although if my witch is in Germany, see my answer above.) Would you like something from Empire Edibles? Those violet creams sound amazing! (Or violet creams from anywhere, really.) Is there anything small you try to collect from everywhere you visit? I'm not consistent about this, but if I see a cool coin or matchbook or rock or shell I'll pick it up. What are the three books you most want to read right now, and which you don't already have? 1) Nobody's Family Is Going To Change, by Louise Fitzhugh. 2) 9th & 13th, by Jonathan Coe 3) The Highly Sensitive Person, by Elaine Aron Is there a literary character you identify with? Even if it's not spot-on, just someone you found yourself having that "I identify with this" feeling? Harriet in Harriet the Spy, Adah in The Poisonwood Bible. What would you like from the most recent BPAL update? What are you planning on buying for yourself and what would you like to try? I'm safe from this update. I'm really looking forward to the TAL update! Opinions on table top games, from cards and board games, to dice and rpgs. What do you like? What don't you like? Favorites? Any classics you like? Do you collect any? I like Apples to Apples, Encore, Scrabble and Pictionary. I'd like to try Cards Against Humanity. It would be fun to try some more word, music, or ice-breaker type games. Oh, and I'm interested in the idea of cooperative or "New Games". What style is your sense of humour? I like to mix it up. I write sly satire, whimsical songs, and out-there surreal stuff, and I once played a Charlie Chaplin-type character in a documentary about chickens. (Yes, really.) I enjoy absurdity, wordplay, good-natured banter, and the masterful physical comedy of my two cats. Do you have any problems with swearing or particularly off-color humor? No problems with swearing or off-color humor per se. Just as long as it's not mean-spirited. Is there anything from Australia you would like? eg: snacks (yes, you can ask for Tim Tams!), books, magazines, memorabilia? I'm curious about musk lollies. Aboriginal art printed on a t-shirt would be cool too. Gift cards/vouchers - yay or nay? If you like them - which stores would you like one for? Yay. Introduce me to someplace you think I'd love. How big is too big...for something to hang on your walls? If I'm painting you a pretty picture, are there maximum dimensions that you have/prefer? I prefer 16 x 16 or smaller. Question: what is your favourite object, that you own, ignoring sentimental reasons for attachment? So I guess something you find beautiful, or fun, or incredibly useful. At the moment it's my Ashbory bass guitar. Just look at how cool it is! Ashbory bass Is there someone on the forums (within SW or not) who knows you really well and might be able to help with stalking? There are several folks who at least know me in person from local Meet & Sniffs: orata, Venneh, Chanter, wendyb1063, starrykitten. If you happen to find out who yours is, how much would it bother you? This is all for fun anyway. It would be fine. Do you use waxmelts or tarts? If so, which ones do you prefer? I don't use either. Do you enjoy drinking hot chocolate, and would you like stuff to make it with, or to add to it? I like the gourmet stuff a great deal, and I'd be into stuff to make it with or add to it. Have you ever tried Spoonfudge? Would you enjoy it if your Witch would send you some? Which of the flavors would you like? I think I'd better take a pass on that one! What's your opinion on Moonalisa? Any favorites or products you'd like to try? I wasn't familiar with it. Possibly the dusting powder? Are there any BPALs that you loved the idea of, the imagery - whether artwork or description - but which didn't work out for you? Sol Invictus and Ra. I love the idea and imagery of these BPAL solar oils, but the only one I really want is Tarot: The Sun. Or, in TAL form, Joy. I saw you have a cat - would it be okay for me to add something for them in a package? Do they like mousies, crunch/soft treats or 'nip? Absolutely! Pleasing my cats pleases me. The girl likes things she can carry around in her mouth. I think she hid her rainbow caterpillar Honeysuckle Hug and I haven't been able to find another one, so if you know where to get one we'd all love that. The boy is a maniac for bonito flakes. Also, STARBUCKS, Yay or Nay? Anything you particularly like? Nay, thanks. Ninjas or Pirates? Pirates. Werewolves or Vampires? Vampires. Zombie or Cthulhu? Cthulhu. Do you want to receive one big package or a bunch of small ones? Digital stuff all at the end when the box should arrive or as we go? I'm happy with whatever my witch prefers, and what works for their postal situation and the amount of time they have to witch. What is your favorite color? Purple. What is your favorite season? Autumn. If you could live anywhere in the world and money was no object, where would it be? I haven't explored enough places to decide - possibly the South of France? Do you have any symbols or totems that are meaningful to you? Mountains (hence the screen name). When you are having a really rough day, what do you like to do/have to make it a little brighter? A massage, a hot shower, a comfort scent, a yummy nutritious meal cooked by someone else, a note from a fan. Would you like if your witch sent a regional pop/soda? If so, what type (Root beer, creme soda, cola, citrus-flavored, chocolate-flavored, etc...)? I don't drink much soda, but if you have some good flavors/types I can't get here in Wisconsin, I might like to try a bit. A good ginger beer or a peach soda. Do you have any long trips coming up? If so, could you use things to occupy yourself? Yes, in a car in late July. I don't do well if I try to read in moving vehicles, but maybe there's something tactile that could occupy me? Otherwise I just try to sleep. I'm going to Jungle Jim's next week (it's basically a massive international food gasm in Ohio, look it up); would anything interest you? A variety of vegetarian Indian dinners. Or anything else you think I might like. Name three things that you could use, but might not necessarily think to get for yourself? 1. An eye mask 2. Post-it notes 3. Stuff to clean my computer and phone screens with. Does anything from the TP Etsy update interest you? It looks like everything's sold out. I just found out Oreo is launching ones with watermelon flavor in the USA only. Is it something you would enjoy? No thanks. What are the three BPALs you would most like to receive - one GC, one not-hard to find LE, and one HTF LE from your dreams? TKO, Faith, Tarot: The Sun are top of the list, I think. Anything off my wish list is wonderful, though! Or anything you know I'd like based on what else I like. If you don't consider yourself in a "fandom" (and I get that ... I don't really go overboard on my liking of any TV show/Movie/etc), are there any TV shows or Movies that you really like and/or watch regularly or any actors/actresses you wouldn't leave standing in the rain (unless you like looking at them sopping wet, in which case ... well, nevermind)? Nope. If you knit/crochet, what sizes of needles do you need? I don't knit or crochet. What styles of artwork do you like? There's a great variety of artwork I like to look at. The artwork I have in my place tends toward the simple and serene - photographic, watercolor and woodcut landscapes and some Chinese calligraphy. If you cook, would you be interested in-hand made spice mixes/rubs? Yes I would! Would you like mexican vanilla or silver rings/necklaces? No thanks. The Conjure Oils update (http://conjureoils.com/emporium.htm) looks absolutely fabulous...I didn't know she made soaps and candles and whanot. Is there anything from the Oddment Emporium you would like? I'm curious about sampling the "Heliophobe" scent. So, dear witchee, would you like some Tw*twaffle soap or scent or lotion? I don't know what it is, and searching for it takes me some strange places. Has anyone asked about tattoos? Do you love them? Hate them? Have any? Want any? Too permanent for me. Temporary ones are fun, though. Following up on the Adagio question from earlier, what are you top five wishes, for teas and blends? 1. Black tea from Germany 2. Lucid Dreaming tisane from the Algonquin Tea Co. 3. Irish Breakfast 4. Moroccan Mint tea 5. Herbal chai Do you have anything that you do ritually, every summer? A bonfire at the CSA. What are your top five wishes from ThinkGeek? List is linked up at the top. Thank you for the guitar pick punch, my awesome Witch! Seen anything lately that makes you go OH HOLY FUCK THAT'S AWESOME!! ? The blind cat at the pet food store I frequent has a guide cat! Do you like audiobooks? If so, do you have/would you like to try Audible? (I'm an addict, myself.) Not currently. Chocolate: Love? Hate? Allergic? If love, what are your faves? Love small quantities of really great chocolate. Truffles in interesting flavors are a favorite of mine. Spicy, tea-infused, floral ... One or two would make my day. Do you like BPTP clothing? I like some of the t-shirt designs, and I'm interested in the yoga pants. It would be especially cool to have a t-shirt from one of the lunacies that have become my favorite scents. Also, what is your favorite lunacy (or non-lunacy) T-shirt that you don't already own? I don't own any! I like Buck Moon, Fruit Moon, Mead Moon, Cheshire Moon, Dragon Moon, Oak Moon, Panther Moon -- for starters! What size do you wear of: Baby-doll T's - I don't really wear baby-dolls Regular T's - Large yoga pants - Large What else do you love from the Trading Post site, and need to have? Nothing at the moment. Stuff from Seattle? Local foods would be cool. Knitted things - love or hate? Scarves and/or washcloths are quick and easy.....would you want one of these? If so, what color(s)? Are you allergic to any fiber? My mom knits enough of these for me. How do you feel about home-canned goods? I feel good about them. If home-grown, bonus! TAL on etsy? That would be lovely! I'm pretty much interested in trying everything, so if there's anything you're getting and want to wing a decant my way, it will get appreciation. The Golden Graces Bath Oil looks especially nice to me. Does the idea of wearing a plant as jewelry give you the warm fuzzies or the heebie jeebies? I like the concept, but don't want to wear it. I live near the Brown and Haley outlet - makers of Almond Roca and Mountain Bars - would you want anything from the outlet? A little Almond Roca, sure. I also have an Oberto jerky outlet local to me - any wants there? Nope! Is there a particular movie genre that you like (Fantasy? Drama? Romantic Comedy? Musicals? TV-Series, etc), and what format would you prefer: Fantasy comedy, musicals (including Bollywood), documentaries. DVDs work for me. Heavenly-smelling, 'cone-rich hair gloss? It sounds amazing, but alas 'cones don't get along well with my hair. I know the question about personal style was included in the questionnaire, but is there anything that could give your witch a better sense of your style/fashion or decoration preferences? Like tumblrs, pictures you like, websites, stores (or brands) you like or would like to be able to shop at and so forth? I buy most of my clothes at thrift stores. I'll see if I can post some photos or something. Other than that .... My favorite recent clothing discoveries: http://www.macabiskirt.com/ (I have the long skirt in charcoal, stone and sandstone.) http://www.wolky.com (I have a pair of red strap-cloggy shoes.) I wear a 32G, so I've had a lot of trouble finding bras that fit and are comfortable, let alone in more than a couple colors. I love the Simone Perele Andora and Caressence bras. http://www.simoneperele.com/index.html I like soft oversize t-shirts - latest favorite find is a diagram of a spine with a hummingbird in the brain. Do you like earrings? Any particular style appeal to you? (hoops, chandelier style, pretty beads etc.) I like hoops and pretty beads. Do you like/wear makeup? If so what brands/colors/types? I wear it sometimes and like to play with it. For subtle enhancement, I like BB creams and/or lip gloss and a little black mascara. For fun, I like different sheer lip colors, eye crayons and cream eye shadows, and colored mascaras. Would like to try CC cream. Skin color: very light. Lip colors: warm reds, coral, peach, reddish-browns, warm pinks. Eye colors: light lid colors, purple, gold, dark crayon/pencil colors, any mascara color. Oh, and nothing sparkly, please. Is there anything special I could get you from New York City? Probably lots of things! I love NYC. I'm overdue for a visit there. Anything unique there you think I'd like. How do you feel about glitter? Does loose glitter make your skin crawl or would you bathe in it? I teach at a girls' rock camp. I don't need any more glitter for the rest of my life. Gourmet popcorn, yes/no? What do you like: glazed, savory, candied? Nuts or not? Any flavors you wouldn't like (like Bacon CHeeseburger, Pizza, Watermelon, Root Beer Float, Hot Chili Dark Chocolate)? Or if any of those sounded interesting, how weird is weird enough? Yes. I like my popcorn savory and pretty unadorned. Salt and maybe a little butter, sometimes nutritional yeast, black pepper or cayenne. I'm totally open to black popcorn or blue popcorn or what have you -- I like to taste the flavor of the corn. Audiobooks? If I had an mp3 player and headphones I'd listen to them on long trips. I never find time to listen to them at home. Festival this week -- includes an "encampment" and an art faire. any interest in trinkety things from the encampment or cards/prints from local artists? Sure. I once found a catnip mouse out of beautiful flowered fabric at one of those festivals, and it's lasted for two generations of my kitties. Or you might find something completely different that suits my tastes. Do you like Kickstarter? Are there any projects up that you really like? I'm considering doing a Kickstarter campaign for my next album. Also looking at Indiegogo. If you have an Etsy wishlist, what are your top 5 favorite things on there? The price is unimportant, not because I'm rich, but because I'd like some inspiration. I don't currently have an Etsy wishlist. I'll see if I can bookmark some things soon to give you an idea. If you were getting a custom Haus of Gloi blend, what four notes would you choose? Apricot, Ginger, Kaffir Lime and Mahogany I know Canadian chips can be different than others, how does "dill pickle" or "ketchup" sound? I eat too many chips as it is. Do you like puzzles? What kind? Jigsaw, word, etc? I like crosswords. How would you rate your general sense of humor? Are you strictly PG-13, R-rated, NC-17? Unrated -- anything from the innocent to the raunchy can make me laugh. What about recycled sari silk yarn, witches and witchees? I'm not a knitter/crafter, but I'd gladly wear a garment made of this -- I love silk things. Sooo, the Blooddrop update (Aviary and Summer Simplicities). Anything you'd like from there? Possibly the Pink Grapefruit? DEAR FIBER AND YARN PEOPLE: I am going back to Paradise Fibers today. They have like almost every type of fiber roving and dye and stuff available. If you're a spinner and have any fiber wishes, what would you like? Dyed or natural? Do you need dye? colors? brand? I'm not a knitter but I do collect cool buttons for my nephew and niece to play with, if you come across any. If I wanted to include something for your fluffball, what would be good, and what should I stay away from? With: Would homemade treats be something you'd like for your dog/cat? Catnip, bonito flakes, fabric toys are all good. Other edible treats are iffy due to a urinary tract diet. Homemade catnip treats would be fun, though. If you get a long weekend this weekend... what are you doing with it? Staying in? Going out? Family? Friends? If you don't get a long weekend, are you OK with that, or a little sad? (If you are Canadian, apply this to last weekend). I'm hanging out, practicing music, getting caught up on chores, and hoping to do some songwriting. Would you be interested in getting a kombucha starter and instructions on how to use it to easily make your own fermented, probiotic tea drink? Kombucha and I don't get along for some reason. What one item would make your kitchen feel 'complete'? It can be anything - gadget, ingredient, art piece, furniture, etc A big pitcher to keep in the fridge. Would you like to receive a couple of French regional specialities like Crème de marrons (basically sweet chestnut purée with a hint of vanilla aroma - can be eaten as a spread or with yoghurt, used in pastries - although I demolish the stuff with a spoon, because I freaking love it), other preserves/sweet things, tapenade/rouille/aioli/dried tomato caviar/other kinds of savoury spreads and condiments? Yes yes yes! Crème de marrons would be amazing to get again. I haven't had that since the 1970s! Tapenade, rouille, aioli, or any of those southern French savoury condiments would be fantastic. I can't remember the last time I had rouille; it's been ages! Anything from Villainess that strikes your fancy, either from their update or from the GC? The Ginger Snapped, Krakatoa, and Scintillating perfumes look good, as does the Grundy Mud. Green Tea Kit Kats? I'd try that. Name 3 things you'd like to get from the Body Shop, LUSH and also Bath and Body Works. The Body Shop: 1. Deep Sleep Dreamy Pillow and Body Mist 2. Satsuma Body Mist 3. Hemp Hand Oil LUSH: 1. Toothy Tabs 2. Mint Julips 3. Fair Trade Foot Lotion Bath and Body Works: 1. Bali Mango Fragrance Mist 2. Orange Ginger Body Mist 3. Eucalyptus Spearmint Body Mist Any candles or tarts you've always wanted to try from Yankee Candle? Nope. If you were set loose in a Whole Foods (or independent equivalent) with $20 to spend on anything frivolous, what would you get? Guacamole and tortilla chips, fizzy water, whatever fruit looks appetizing. Prancing Pony Etsy wares? I like the gaming dice pendant. Black Taffeta and Summer Lace? I'm in a decant circle for Summer Lace. -

If you like your spices and tobacco with coffee, try The Arabian Dance. -
Interesting to contemplate. I'd add Luna Azul and Sea of Glass to your list.

Silver Phoenix is very orris-dominant to my nose.

Thieves' Rosin works for me, and it's on your bottle list! Take care, and know we BPAListas are rooting for you.

Tobacco Honey?

I kept Ehecatl in the fridge for such occasions last summer.

The first thing that came to mind for me was Morocco. The list of notes doesn't even mention vanilla, but I get exactly the vibe you're describing. "The intoxicating perfume of exotic incenses wafting on warm desert breezes. Arabian spices wind through a blend of warm musk, carnation, red sandalwood and cassia." The incenses are smoky and the warm desert breezes are dry, I guess. I think the warm musk with the spices are what read as vanilla.

In the bottle the camphor and lavender dominate, giving a medicinal impression. Wet on my skin, the mango emerges, juicy and a bit spicy. Dry, this is one of the most beautiful blends ever. It's like a tropical fruit blossom wafting on cool evening air. So evocative and alluring. I love it!
