I don't often like aquatics, so I'm pretty surprised at myself. Lightning is clean with a sharp floral edge and if it were a color, it would be aqua. I'd keep my little imp, but every time I sniff at my arm, I get a missive from my sinuses saying "Don't you do this to us." Maybe I'll see if my grandmother wants it - she tends to like this scent group.

Yeesh. My grandfather has passed on, but his Ben-Gay lives on in this fragrance. That's how it is straight out of the imp. As far as I know, rose and lemon don't do well together, and the best I'm getting out of this is some totally unappealing bargain-basement cheap rose soap scent. And all of a sudden, I'm delirious with powdery chemicals. Thanks anyway.

I think this is a red scent, though a gentle, washed-out red, like that sweater that's been in the dryer too many times. It starts out like a musky floral, then quickly quickly goes into some kind of fruitiness, and ends up smelling powdery pleasant, if a little dusty. I'll have to wear it all over one day to make my final judgment.

Having been The Other Woman, I feel all my authori-tie in reviewing this perfume. There's certainly some mystery with this scent for me. Contained within the beautiful opium is a bit of sharpness that I can't quite pinpoint, maybe the jasmine? That seems the likely bet, probably not the kush. It's not unpleasant, and it can even serve as a metaphor for the bitterness a mistress may feel at having to share her beloved. It is incensy, with just the best magnolia quality lying on top and patchouli weaving through. Long lasting too. I'm very happy I have a bottle!

To compare the two, Rose Red and The Peacock Queen, one must turn to an episode of King of the Hill called "A Beer Can Named Desire." In the B plot, Bill Dauterive has gone home to his kinfolks in the Louisiana bayou, where he's greeted by, among others, his three young, fetching and extremely widowed cousins, one of whom is his blood kin (but he isn't sure who that is yet). To wit: Rose (Rose Red) pushes herself out in front toward Bill: "I'm Rose, the youngest." Lily (Peacock Queen) sidesteps Rose and faces Bill, wearing a sensuous, self-assured look: "I'm Lily, the youngest-lookin'." There you have it. This Queen has the upper hand in this situation and on my wrist. The beauty of the rose is without question, starts out pink, comes over to red, and about halfway through, the thorns flash. Steel in the stem, then they fade somewhat, rejoining the velvety petals. A winner, and definitely a hoard choice for me.

First off, there is no way I'd let some man wear this instead of me, unless I just happened to want him to. The notes of this scent are all winners on me, and it develops right away into something tremendously lovely on my skin. I'm particularly at home with the Lab's leather note, and that dominates alongside of bergamot, lavender and lemon peel. Staying power of at least two hours. It makes my life better! Glad I have a bottle, will get some more for sure.

Conquest, indeed. It appears to have triumphed over my sinus infection (just blasted through, didn't eradicate, but am giving it time). This is a well-balanced blend to me, all the notes are in proportion with red musk coming out just on top. I think there is a bit of a sour backdrop for me, but it doesn't take away from the overall pleasantness. Like. Not love, but like. I find it amusing that with my imp, the liquid is so red and strong that it dyed the vial stopper red as well...

This is one of those scents that I could bathe in. It's my favorite of all the Inquistion scents I've experienced. This perfume is a gentle beauty, and if it had a face, it'd be Deborah Kerr. Pear, freesia and could that be the Queen Elizabeth root? I don't know what that smells like, but I understand it is widely reputed to attract men. So, for me at least, that's not a bad thing It's absolutely lovely, and you can bet your bloomers I'll try to get more.

Ahh, like making out in the woods! Pine pitch, check. Berries, check. Gentle sweetness that must be from the vanilla, and spicy pepper pinking it up. Crispy clean. I agree with 'Gree, it's a perfect scent for cooler weather. Glad I have some, even if it is just a sample.

Wow, I got a woody In the bottle, it is foody and molasses-y, but on me, the sugar blends in great partnership with a wood aroma, like leaning up against fine wood paneling and inhaling the atmosphere. Sensuous. It's great! I'm happy I have a bottle. Update: I changed my mind somewhat. It's good, not great. I really like the realism that these wood notes convey, but I can't see smelling like this all over. Pass!

I didn't think I was going to like this blend, cause it dawns sharp and cranky on my skin. But if I give it a little while, it mellows out to a soft spice with a bit of crustiness, kinda like Hoggle in that icon somebody has for this scent. Nicely dry, pleasant, probably really good for layering. I like!

I'm going as a lobbyist (complete with fangs), so probably Imp. Or maybe Aunt Caroline's Money Draw

The label picture of that mansion's crumbling facade is well-chosen. When I smell this on me, it's a dusty rose floral, and it reminds me of old dresser drawer linings, of fond memories and past conquests. Something in there smells lilac-y to me too, maybe it's that peony/vanilla combo. Anyway, I don't think it's for me, but like with so many other fragrances on here, I'm glad I got to experience it.

Y'know, given that note list, I wasn't expecting what I got. For me, this is a fruity, festive fragrance (alliteration not on purpose). Fig and light chocolate, with citrus playing over that constantly. It lasts about four hours on me and although I'm not in love with this Carnival scent like I am Bearded Lady and Gypsy Queen, I am glad I didn't miss out on it. Worth a go!

Silliness in the extreme. Vanilla bean, honeycomb, sugared pear, sweet pea and a dribble of strawberry. Silly is totally right! Is this supposed to smell like cotton candy? Cause that's what I kinda get. The sweet pea is predominant, with honey and vanilla blending very lightly behind. Not much throw, but lean into it, why don't you? I think you'll agree that it sure is sweet, almost saccharine! I don't think I'd like to smell like this, but it is somewhat enjoyable in and of itself. Enjoyable and sugary

Dagnabbit, Theodosius, faithless coward, why can't it be? Why can't we stay together longer than 30 minutes? You always have to pull this disappearing act every time we visit, leaving me sitting in your slightly smoky, vanilla-laced wake. Me all alone with my weak mug of bergamot. And no lemon. Sheesh.

It's a lovely scent, just wish it didn't "haunt" me so! :B (That's my icon for "doy!") Hardy har, what I mean is it my skin eats it up within a couple of hours. But while it lasts, it's a sensuous red musk scent. The florals do stick to the background, kind of like a supporting chorus, while the vanilla and musk play together. Wet, it is very bright and blood orange; I agree with most of the reviews I've read on that. Really charming. The only thing I don't like about it is that I do get some dusty overtones to it, which is a big turnoff to me. Still glad I got to try it tho. Update: Since I'm selling my imp, I thought I'd do a quick double-take on the old for comparison purposes with the retail re-release. The amber and oranges together really make this scent something special. The red rose also plays very nicely in the middle, with the red musk taking a backseat for once and lending a lovely basenote. I don't know how gardenia fits in, but it seems to be a gardenia I can wear, which rarely happens. In all, I have to amend what I said before - this could be worth at least one bottle, particularly if it's aged a bit. Update update: Now comparing the new with the old. The new is quite pretty, but it doesn't have the heart-stopping loveliness that the DIMV formulation does. Maybe it's the aging process. The new is much brighter and I get much more heliotrope-orange combo action. Still very much worth your time, but try and get an aged bottle first.

I love this scent. I wish the throw was greater, but it is a soft, slightly spicy, milky scent that clings to you most of the day, altho it's so gentle only you and your lover will know. Nice one!

Crisp northern wind blowing over Beeman's Gum, which fades to an almost nonexistent floral in five minutes. Can't say I'm impressed.

Man, out of the imp, it's a melon onslaught. Smelling salts got nothin on this. However, it calms down pretty quickly and mellows to a pleasant melon/floral combo. Still, its aroma catches in the back of my throat every time I sniff, and not in that good way, so I'm casting it off to swaps.

Well, this had to be a heartache, didn't it? I was allreadyset for my big emotional connection with this one, as the Cupid/Psyche story holds a special place with me in my mythology studies, but there's no love for me here! Lavender and I get along great usually, but this time, in the bottle and on my skin, it's medicinal. Very herbal and dry, no warmth to it, and the frankincense only makes it worse somehow. No real rose or orchid, and it finally dries down to an ugly BO finish. I vow, by English Leather, Wind Song, Stetson and all other cheapo perfumes, never to wear Psyche again.

Blaarghh. Kabuki's very warm, somewhat syrupy, and I wanted to like it for the warmth, but I choked on the overwhelming cherry. That stuff can kill. And it kept hanging on me and hanging on me, thanks to the musk. I don't seem to have much luck with the red musk fragrances anyway, but it was the cherry that did me in.

As I sit here with my laptop and write this review, I keep looking out the window over my desk at the smoky blue twilight, and I think, "Yeah, that's what this scent is, early summer twilight, with all that magic and all that sexiness." The plum's sweetness shimmers in conjunction with the musk, and I really think they bring out the best in each other. Carnation has never failed to win with me, but it takes a bit of a backseat here. Not implying that this is a flaw; I think that it supports the other two so well that it's easy to miss. This will be a multiple bottle purchase, I believe.

It's the magical scent of pissed-on wildflowers! Jeebus, this is bad. At least I don't have a headache. The strange-ass aquatic/powdery note that I find here and in a couple other scents has just never worked on me. BTW, for the sake of posterity, a group of guys in high school dedicated this poem to moi.

This may be a Hollywood tragedy, but it ain't no tragedy on my skin. No throw, like myoubi said, but who cares when you can have these beautiful notes? In my case, it's a beguiling combo of aquatic and rosy wood. The water lilies, wooden notes and rose all dance together gracefully, with the clover and melon playing a sweet background tune. Not much violet for me, and no sharpness. Quite the summer starlet, and I'm proud to have her on my arm. This is going to be resurrected, I know it. I just KNOW it.
