Mint and roses... I'm in heaven. It's a beautifully feminine scent and if I hadn't already bought so many oils to go through I'd be making this one my signature scent. It's perfect.
-
Almonds and cherries.. I hope this one works, I could use a influx of cash right now. At least I'll smell good while broke.
-
Pure sugary goodness... this scent makes me think of days at the State Fair eating a gigantic ball of spun cotton candy. There's a childish giddiness about this scent that I adore. Next to Pink Moon this is one of my favorite sugary scents.
-
Herbal, spicy... a tricky kitty indeed, it's hard to place the notes in this blend. Minty is the first thing that pops out, it smells similar to Nine Mysteries which is almost entirely mint. Yum, you have to be in a particular mood to wear this scent as mint is not a normal ingredient. A fun scent.

Strong lavender directly from the imp, which settles down into a peaceful powdery scent. I can see this as being very comforting to someone who had recently broken up with someone very special to them. Eventually you have to calm down enough to sleep and try to move on. This would've been useful in my last breakup.

This is a simple blend, only three notes are mentioned, like an earlier poster said it is early BPAL, and yet I can't seem to get over the cloying grace of the mixture, the heliotrope especially seals the balance between jasmine and roses. Unfortunately it seems to be becoming musk driven as it ages.
-
Soft and sweet flowers. A truly pale blend, yet with the same herbal undercurrent of Water of Notre Dame. I've had very good experiences with all of the mediation blends, and this is no exception, it helps me go right to that calm place whenever I wear it.

Dragons blood is the thing that pops out in this scent for me, then soft flowers, possibly roses and peony. If any of you have read the story "The Loving Cup" this is the scent that always comes to mind whenever I read about that love potion. Soft and sure persuasion. As for the voodoo properties, my boyfriend warmed up to it right away.

Sweet honeysuckle, apricots and musk. Really, what's not to love about this scent? As for its ability as a moodlifter, it seems to work, at least on me.
-
This is my favorite summer scent, the sage, juniper and dragons blood intertwine to create a scent that is both warming and fresh. I wish I'd bought a bottle when it was first released. Instead I'm hoarding the two imps I've managed to get a hold of. It is a truly lovely blend.

As everyone else has said, this is a lovely rose scent with a definate undercurrent of spice. I'm in love with this scent and so glad that I bought a bottle when it was released. It's the kind of scent that you wear for a special someone.

This scent is a beautiful dark rich floral. I didn't even try to review it until I'd worn it a few times. It's heavenly if you like the fruitiness of lotus, but you also like the depth of resins, it melds the two beautifully. It's sexy, provided your skin can handle lotus or resin.

Scent: Medicinal herbs and spices. This is not a blend to be use for scent at all. Effectiveness: So far I cut ties cleanly with my roommates and it looks like we're all going to be able to get on with our lives. I burnt a candle annointed with Ourboros just to make sure that there would be no loose ends - seems to work so far. I certainly feel much better about it.

This scent is an intoxicating slice of heaven. Ever since I swapped for an imp of it it's been in my top ten, and I'll soon be ordering a bottle of it. It's light and calming and has just the perfect balance of sandalwood without being overpowering. This is one of the older catalog scents, but it really does deserve more attention than it gets.

I think there's heliotrope in this... scent wise it smells like Feu Follet with a dose of lemon and honey, not that I'm complaining, it's beautiful and makes me feel a little bit happier than normal. I don't know yet if it has been working, but if anything does happen I'll update this. I think I made a good choice with this oil, it's subtle and right up my alley because of that. I don't really expect anything huge or material from it, I'm just wearing it with a small dose of intent. Edit: well.. I aced the midterm I took while wearing it. I know that most of this is the result of my own hard work, but I'd like to think that the TAL helped, even if it's a bit like Dumbo and his feather.

Dracul is my favorite masculine scent... but I may have said that before. It's delicous.

This is the forbidden rose of my childhood. My sister was annoyed with my rose perfume and I'm fairly certain she was the one who pulled off the cap to keep me from spritzing it on myself at every opportunity. It is full and rich and beautiful. I can hardly believe I haven't reviewed this yet. This is my favorite of the rose blends, it is not the freshly cut rose of Rose Red, nor the abundance of Two, Five and Seven, this is a dozen perfect roses overflowing with scent. But not fresh roses, they are at least a day old, the greenness is not so rich as it was, it's faded, leaving the sweet perfume behind. Lovely, but yes, haughty and distant too. A wonderful perfume.

Smut sounds good to me

Notions: Sexy musk and wine. Application: Light fruit? Intense fruit. As it dries the fruit gets worse.. here comes a headache. Wanda does not like me, the leather and fruit notes do not agree on my skin. I can't wait for it to settle down. I wash it off. Off to swaps with you.

This is the scent of an illicit lovers tryst in a dark dirty alley, pressed up against a wall trying not to moan and full of passionate hurry because you two don't want to get caught. (Behind an Indian resturant/bar perhaps, with all the spices) Preconcieved notions: From the sugar and booze in the description I was expecting a slightly darker version of Sugar Skull, thick and bright with sugar but heady from the booze. I didn't realize the booze was rum and congnac... In the bottle: Dark, snake-oil type scent.. did I get the right bottle? On my skin: Dark red musk and slowly rising sugars.. do I smell orange? Something not quite nutty, but oily in a very seductive way. After several hours: Ah yes.. there is pachouli in this! and dark sugar.. very nice. Overall: This is nice.. This makes the 3rd dark BPAL scent I can wear without being turned off by one note or another (The others being F'54 and the Coiled Serpent.) I'm really an aquatic girl at heart, but this is a fantastic scent and I'll be keeping it.

In the bottle: Strong caramel... very foody. Drydown: residual sweetness of carmel and deep spices. It reminds me of some other scent... I just can't place it though. the verdict: Too heavy and dark for me, sorry!

I purchased an imp of this off one of the forumites, and I hate to say it, but I'm glad I didn't go for a bottle. In the imp it smells of powder, and once on the skin it's all powder and violets. Nice, but no where as chilling as my beloved Ice Queen. This scent is more remincient of fresh laundry right out of the dryer, rather than the dead of winter. I'll keep the imp, but as I said, not a bottle scent.

Clove discussion! including bitter clove and clove cigarettes

http://vanilla.spicybrains.org/search.php?...=1&only-title=0 The link is to a search on BPAL's site for Clove, 19 results, most are catalog, one is LE. Dracul has clove and orange flower (and is delicous btw). Bengal has clove and ginger (but I haven't tried it so I'm not so sure how much either comes out.) Seraglio looks good too... sniff around, read some reviews, you'll find something. -
Granddaughter of Helios, Hecate's chosen: Medea was one of the greatest sorceresses of the ancient world. She is the embodiment of ruthless power, indomitable will and furious vengeance. Night-blooming cereus, black orchid, black currant and myrtle leaf enshrouded in the incense of Hecate's cypress and myrrh, and the dark rage of magickal labdanum and intoxicating poppy. I adore the darkness of this scent, and the way it clings to my skin. Fruity and musky and just a bit sexy. Absolutely delicious, but not sweet and cloying. Every time I wear it around my boyfriend he always, always comments on how good I smell. A bottle will be ordered shortly My imp is from several months ago, but hopefully it will remain true in bottle form. ADDED Oct. 16, 2006: This is a new review.. because this is a new scent... The bottle I got had almost no fruit or dark resins I had come to expect... My sad conclusion is that this is a reformulation of my old favorite, it's all dry grasses and disappointingly different.

Lush to BPAL scent comparisons (BNever included too)

Anything that smells like the Butterball Bath Bomb? So delicously scented.
