In the bottle and wet, this smells like uber fruity, juicy bubble gum, the kind I LOVED to chew when I was a kid. The jasmine cuts through all the fruits more and more as it dries. I don't get much ginger or pepper, unless they are part of the amalgomous fruitiness that tempers the jasmine when it comes out to play. It's wonderful for summertime.

This one is wonderful. Loads of sweet, sticky honey poured over jasmine and gardenia... something in there makes me think of clovers too (clover honey?)! It's beautiful, unusual, and very comforting, like a hot cup of exotic tea on a chilly morning. I'll be hoarding my precious little decant and looking for more honey-licious scents in the GC and upcoming LEs.

To me, this is a girly version of Twenty-One. I don't get much apple or mint at all, and what's left smells like the gibson I tried last week... all premium vodka and fresh lime juice. (Which is good, because I love gibsons and hate apple-tinis!) I think I'll stick with Twenty-One, as I prefer the juniper, but I'd recommend Mock Turtle for those who don't like juniper as much as I do. This is very light, limey and pretty. A good one for spring/summer for sure. ETA: I tried this again yesterday, and now I finally understand what you all are talking about when you say "it turns to soap." It went from light green cocktail to "I just washed my hands with limeish soap." Poor old turtle.

Milk Moon... went to the beach... put some sunblock on... met Elegba and turned down the offer of a cocktail... I get mostly coconut milk from this one (and I know, because I made coconut cake with a LOT of coconut milk over the weekend)! The shea note comes out a little more with the drydown, and I think this is what gives Obatala its sunblock-y note. This stays in the background and gets thinned out by the watery note. It's thick coconut, like Elegba (which I think is the MOST beachy), but without the booziness. No cocktails for this one. I think I may have to buy a bottle of this... I love Milk Moon, and the coconut just makes it better. With it, I'll be queen of the summertime!

I sort of see this one as "Swank lite." It has the same berry/vodka tang, but a bit more subtle, and more "light pink" than "deep magenta" in the "color as scent" sense. As for comparison to the drink, it's right on! But, fortunately, not in the sense that it makes you smell like an alcoholic who has been pounding vodka at 11:30 AM. It's lovely to bring in the springtime smelling like a cosmopolitan... without having to pour your drink on yourself, which has the disadvantage of getting you very sticky.

This is such a mild calm scent... very mellow and creamy. I don't get a whole lot of mint or lunars, this one is all warm cream on my skin. It puts me in mind of the smell of fresh Devon cream on a crumpet when you have a good English cream tea. It makes me very happy, because unlike Antique Lace, it doesn't go plastic on me, just stays the same lovely creamy scent for hours, with a mild but noticable throw. Also smells good layered with Lush Chai body wash. It's my favorite moon, and I hope it comes back again someday... in the meantime I shall placate with Star, White Rabbit, and possibly Obatala.

Dragon's Milk! It smells like cherry almond italian soda!

This smells like my favorite Strawberry Shortcake doll... the Angel Food one. She had a pet skunk, white hair, and this exact light vanilla powdery smell. This really takes me back to when I was four, and the only two things worth living for were 1. gumdrops from the Easter gumdrop tree on the table and 2. more Strawberry Shortcake dolls. And possibly white hair, but my mom told me I would have plenty of time to enjoy white hair when I was old. Back from the nostalgia trip, though, this is the only vanilla scent that went powdery on me from the get-go. To be honest, I actually like harkening back to my innocent 4-year-old ways, but this isn't something I'd wear every day.
-
In the vial, this is pure cherry cough syrup. I was a bit apprehensive about trying it, as my experience with Dragon's Tears didn't really endear me to dragon's blood resin... too sweet. Putting it on makes quite a difference. The milk and honey really shine through and morph into a very soft, pleasant sweetness, as opposed to a sickly cough syrup sweetness. Honestly, this smells like one of my favorite beverages--cherry almond italian soda. The best part about this scent is the throw and lasting power. This lasts for hours on my skin without going powdery, and the scent wafts around me like a big fuzzy security blanket. I don't know if I'll like any of the other dragon scents, but this one is definitely for me.

This one puts me in mind of a huge bunch of violets floating on the waves. It's lovely... the scent of soft violets and crisp air with an undertone of seawater and deeper ozone. What a great scent to wear in the warm weather, for both boys and girls. Incidentally, I put it on over some B&BW peppermint and eucalyptus lotion, and it's a match made in heaven!

I finally got my hot little hands on a decant of this! It's all strawberries and cream on me, with a little drizzle of honey to provide toothache inducing sweetness. This one seems to be made up of all "top" notes, and has a bit of a dizzying effect. It's what I thought Pink Moon would smell like. Overall, I like it a lot, even if it's not something I'd wear every day. It's just for days when you feel girly happy, and need something to top it off with... and it puts me in mind of Miwako from the manga Paradise Kiss, if that makes sense! Pink Phoenix makes me want to put on a frothy pink dress and pick flowers in the sunshine!

I'm glad and sorry I bought this. Glad because it smells amazing, and sorry because the boyfriend has claimed it as his own! It's a very light and fresh scent. I mainly get the tea note, with the citrus lingering in the background. I expected it to be a lot more "sharp" than it ended up being... despite the sharp sounding notes, this is a very mellow scent (I think the ozone-y notes in the background have something to do with this). I think it smells great on boys and girls alike. I also agree with my fellow reviewers that it is similar to Dorian (the tea note). It's less sweet than Dorian, but it has that aspect of gentility that made me love Dorian so much. It's an elegant, unusual blend, which I'll be stealing from the boy as much as I can.

In the bottle, this smelled like something you'd want to smell when you have a headache. The lavender takes the upper hand here, but it's softened by the chamomile and poppy, so you don't get that sharp lavender smell quite so much. On my skin, the lavender fades off first, leaving the other scents to blend around with each other... They seem to get along really well together, as I can't pick a single one out of the mix as the "predominant" note. I'm very happy with this blend, especially since I was scared of the poppy... but it turned out to be a very gentle, lovely scent, great for relaxing. As a bonus, I wore it over to the boyfriend's house, and when he gave me a hug, he couldn't stop gushing about how wonderful I smelled! Sleepy Moon!

Whoa. A big ol' yellow jasmine flower just walked in and punched me in the face. Then it baked me a big ol' lemon pound cake to apologize. A big lemon pound cake with jasmine flowers on top, and a burnt herb bottom. My whole HOUSE smells like jasmine after that little dab punched me! I don't know if I like the scent or not... it's half lovely and half headache inducing. I'm really not used to such strong florals! I'll have to try it out again and ponder.

I REALLY love this scent... it's possibly the best cinnamon to come out of the lab, in my opinion. It's a sultry, spicy cinnamon, and the voodoo smelling herbs give it an earthiness that's just ravenously sexy. The only problem is, it makes me break out in huge hives. I'm thinking of experimenting with my imp and some unscented lotion, or possibly as a room scent. I wish it didn't give me such a bad reaction, as it's hard to justify a big bottle when it makes me red and puffy all over! But damn, does it ever work...

When I write, my biggest problem is just sitting down and concentrating for a while. Blockbuster is really helpful with that, as are citrus blends, especially Moxie and The Star (tarot). They are great for keeping you awake and focused. Best of luck!

I'm so happy I chose this one as my V-Day order! On me this is the perfect balance of sweet rose and herby greens. It's what I wanted 2 5 and 7 to smell like, but while that one was a little too sharp, this wafts around one in a very mellow way. It'll be great for springtime, and it makes me want to put on a little sundress and prance around a flower garden. I LOVE IT.

This one is just delicious! I get a lovely milky tea smell, sweetened by a little honey sharpened by lemon, and rounded out by the white musk. Overall it's a very mild perfume, gentle but not cloying. It's perfect for the balmy weather down south just now! Unfortunately I think the boy will be stealing this one away from me, because it smells just as good on him as it does on me... I guess I'll just have to order my own bottle!

I love almonds, so I had very high hopes for Queen of Sheba! It smells great at first, sweet mellow almonds and honeyed spices, but on the drydown, it smells increasingly like stale tobacco... like I had a foul smelling cigarette five hours ago. Very sad!

I just got an imp of this in the mail today and swiped on a bit before class. Not five minutes after my friend sat down next to me, she sniffed around and said "what smells like patchouli?" ...patchouli??? Quickly she revised her statement, saying "maybe not patchouli. But it smells like a hippie shop from college. Like someone is burning incense." To which I said "oh dear... this is supposed to be strawberries and flowers, not incense!" But she was right... pink moon went all incense-y on me from the get-go, which is strange, as I was not expecting it at all! But with skin chemistry, what can you do? The scent has calmed down quite a bit, but in my opinion, it's still a little more incense-y than I'd like. I'm not a fan of "that hippie shop" smell. Still I'll test it out again, maybe in a "non-time of the month" setting to see if my chemistry evens out. Maybe I'll test with a less generous swipe, as this scent is pretty overpowering. On the whole, I prefer Bon Vivant, much less complicated and confusing!

Yum yum yum! Hellcat is fun! I get the hazelnut and buttercream notes mostly, with perhaps a little almondy rum in the background. (To me it smells more like rum cordial candy than actual rum, which is good, because I love rum candy and hate rum to drink... go figure!) It smells a lot like Hearth '05, though Hearth had a sharp woody note behind it rather than the rummy one here. On the whole I think I prefer the sharper, longer lasting Hearth '05 to Hellcat. Even so, I'm having a great time concocting possible drink recipes in my head involving frangelico, amaretto, rum, butter schnapps, and loads of whipped cream. It would be fun to make a whipped shea butter body cream that smells like Hellcat, too. It might be a problem trying not to spoon the stuff into my mouth once it's made, though...

When you need something comforting or cheering
Spring Snow replied to oakmoss's topic in Recommendations
What a great topic! I looked at it for some advice today as I got very sick this weekend and needed to feel better and get back to work this morning. Embalming Fluid is doing wonders. I bet Shanghai would be great too, green tea in general tends to wake me up and help me get going. Thanks everyone! -
I bought an imp of this from a friend, and when I first smelled it, I thought it was OK enough to keep the imp, but haven't worn it a whole lot. Wearing it today however, it strikes me how lovely it smells... all vanilla-y and warm. It's definitely similar to O, but with amped up vanilla rather than honey, and with an earthier undertone. Even mom commented that I smell great when I gave her a hug. J says it has a sweet side to it, but it is also sophisticated. His review: "I like it." Boys are great.

Maybe work the astral tarot oils? Because we all shine on, like the moon and the stars and the sun... Any excuse to wear The Star, for me.

Bravery, Courage, Confidence, Intimidation, Power

I wholeheartedly agree with northatlantic. Neo Tokyo is a great "professional" scent that is a middle ground between "pretty" and "steely." I think boys and girls can wear it, but it's particularly devistating on girls! While preparing I recommend using Moxie... it's my new exam prep love. I got through my moots well, even though I had the judge repremand me within the first five minutes of my "grand finale" trial for opening an issue too soon! Just remember to stay focused and always say "Your Honor." Good luck!
