    Lampades

Tart, creamy, fruity, deep and heady. After about 30 minutes, the lilies peek out a bit, to sweeten up the tartness of the berries. And underneath it all, a bit of spice (there's the ginger), and I swear I'm getting citrus, too. Lime, maybe? Anyway, at Christmas my grandma always made cranberry relish. Fresh cranberries, raisins, celery, walnuts, with just a touch of sugar added to cut the puckery tartness of the berries. Plus, she always served the relish in an elegant cut glass bowl. So it looked as good as it tasted. That memory, to me, is how this oil smells. Every time I catch a whiff of this scent, I'm taken back 15 years to those Christmas dinners. <sniff. my eyes are getting misty.> Wow, talk about a walk down memory lane. In a good way! Love this, and it's on my "big bottle purchase" list. claire G.

    Puck

Have to agree with other reviewers who have sworn off civet. This is the third of the Lab's creations I've tried that have civet in them, and each oil has gone absolutely rancid on my skin. My body chemistry turns civet into a quagmire of muddy animal piss. As soon as it hits my skin - YEEAARRGH!! However, I can wear musk with absolutely no problem at all. In fact, white musk is one of my fave single notes oils. Wonder what's up with that? Anyway, Puck goes off to the swap pile. claire G,

    Mata Hari

I have to agree with allamanda on this one - my skin takes jasmine and amps it up, so much so that this scent started out on my skin as straight jasmine and never went to anything else. Actually, even in the vial I smelled only jasmine, that's it, no coffee note that everyone else has noticed. Must be my weird nose Or maybe I'm uber-sensitive to jasmine. Either way, this isn't bad, just not what I was hoping for. body chemistry!! claire G.

    Coconut

Mmmm, every bit as good as I expected. Sweet, creamy, slightly Hawaiian Tropic, very foody. Reminds me of canned coconut milk. Subtle and yummy. Have already layered this with Tarot: the Star (naturally) and Perversion, and it's fabulous! Not surprising that I like this, as I'm a coconut fanatic! I am currently using: coconut hair gel, gilligan soap from villainness, coconut body cream, etc. etc. Hmmm, wonder about this layered with single note vanilla bean (note to self...) Foody scent heaven! Would also wear this on its own, as a simple, delectable, reminds-me-of-summers-at-the-beach scent. claire G.
  5. I second velvet's comment about vixen. It's my current fave BPAL oil. I love it, and men at work ALWAYS compliment me when I wear it. The usual reaction is "you smell good," not "that's a nice perfume you're wearing." Cause Vixen is definitely a your-skin-but-better scent on me. Even the 20-year-old college intern said, "you smell great." And hey, compliments are always a good thing. But now that I'm over 30, compliments from younger men are *especially* nice, he he he claire G.

    Perversion

Absolute heaven in a bottle! This is my first review, because although I've loved sampling Beth's creations over the past few months, I know I suck at identifying individual notes. So I'm afraid I won't be much help to anyone looking for a "wet, it smelled like..." or, "drydown had definite notes of..." review. However, I will say that even I detect the coconut and tonka bean (vanilla-ish) notes here. Not overpowering or cloying, but definitely present. And I'd also agree with shadow, who commented this is the "female" counterpart to Hellfire. Having tried both scents, I have to say they do share a similar aura. But perversion is definitely more feminine to my nose. Let me just say again, I love this!! claire G

How to make a paypal order.

Hi All! Some of you may know this - it might've been posted in another thread - but I thought I'd tell you that the current, correct paypal address for orders is paypal@blackphoenixalchemylab.com. I just placed another order (my first paypal order) on 8/12 and had an email from Nella that this was the correct paypal address. I used cupcake@blackphoenixalchemylab.com, and my order went through to the Lab, but that's not the address to use in the future. Sorry is this is old info, just wanted to share. claire G. And Nella, if you happen to read this, thanks for your email!

    Different smells/colors, same perfume

Hi everyone! I got an imp of hellcat with my first order, about two months ago, and loved it. About two weeks ago, I swapped for another imp of it, since my first one was almost gone, and my second (large) order is still in the works. Well, I just got the second imp I swapped for, and I swear, it's not the same scent! The first imp is almost clear, perhaps slightly yellow-colored, and I can REALLY smell the mead and buttercream notes that other people have mentioned in the reviews. The second imp is golden in color, and there's still a spicy note there, but none of the "boozy" or "buttercream" top notes that I noticed (and loved!) in the first imp. The second imp had the parchment tag attached, so I'm wondering, maybe they labelled it wrong at the lab? It's not a huge deal, and I'm not out any money, but I was going to place another order soon and get a 5ml of hellcat. But if the formulation changed, I'll have to reconsider. Really not as fond of the second imp as I was the first one. If anyone knows what might be going on, please let me know. Thanks! claire

Looking for scents that smell like chai

Hi- New to this forum, but I have a suggestion for chai tea scents. I know of an etailer that sells scents called "black tea" and "spicy vanilla chai," both of which sound like what you're looking for. As lorajc commented, I also don't feel right posting the name of the company here. But I have it if you want to PM me. P.S. Am going to post on the Introductions thread too, but wanted to say hi to everyone. I'm yet another newbie, waiting for my first BPAl order. And waiting VERY impatiently I must say!
