This is the 2012 version. It starts out with thick and super sweet, sugary, cream. I also get the butteriness that other reviewers describe. The final dry down of this is really pretty - I can actually smell the linen and the sugar fades away to leave a sweet, creamy scent. I love the dry down of this, the initial stages are way to sweet and foody for me. I am going to re-test this one, it's nice but I'm not sure how often I will wear it.

This starts out with really, sweet, juicy pear. The sweetness wears off the pear and this drys down into a lovely mix of vanilla and a realistic, not too sweet pear. It's about 50/50 mix of vanilla and pear on me, it's a soft, comfort scent. It's also really wearable and versatile. I decided to order a bottle

On me this is a sweet, lemony scent, with a hint of something green and herbal which I assume is wormwood or violet leaf. It's not what I was expecting, its sweeter and fruitier. I don't get anything dusty from this. It's quite pretty but does fade fast. I am going to try this again before deciding if I want to get a bottle.

This starts out really perfumey on me, it almost reminds me of Pleasures by Estee Lauder. This does dry down into a really beautiful floral - it's lush and soft and strikes me as a spring/summer evening scent that would also make a lovely day scent too. It turns into a really realistic floral scent, like walking around a garden in the moonlight and getting wafts of the evening stock. It doesn't turn soapy on my skin. I am happy that I got a bottle of this , it does take a little while for the perfumey element to wear off though.

Blue Moon starts out with alot of lavender, it's also a bit sharp. It does soften over time and changes into a cool, almost misty floral. It smells quite cool and fresh and strikes me as a summery scent. I will probably wear this alot in hot weather. A little of this goes a long way, it's a strong scent and lasts for ages.

This starts out as a soft lavender scent, it's not as floral as I was expecting and the sandalwood doesn't amp on my skin. After a while I can detect some vanilla, it eventually ends up being a soft, dusty and slightly floral vanilla scent. I like this so much, I ordered another bottle

You could try Zephyr: A gentle white scent, breezes laced with the scent of springtime blooms and citrus. Lemon, lemon verbena, neroli, white musk, white florals, white sandalwood, China musk, bergamot and a drop of vanilla. It's in Bewitching Brews.

Where is my order? What is Click N Ship? How long does this take?
becca_s replied to Snow White's topic in BPAL FAQs
Yeah.. this is the most horrible thing about being an international BPALer... the waiting Is it your Click N'Ship notification that was dated 9/15? If so, just be aware that the 15th might not be the day it was actually sent - if I remember correctly from previous conversations about this, the Lab bundles all the international orders together and processes them for shipping at the same time (ie generates the CnSnotification), but they might not actually get posted on the same day the CnS is generated. The 15th of September was actually a Saturday, so it's likely that wasn't the actual shipping day. So, let's say yours actually hit the post office on Monday the 17th - then it may not have actually commenced the shipping process until Wednesday the 18th - then counting the days, from Wed 18/9 to today Tuesday 2/10 is only 11 business days even though it's been three weeks in 'real' time. My guess would be that you've probably still got another 2 or 3 days to wait. In my experience, the 'priority' shipping that the Lab uses is no quicker than regular first class international that most forumites use for sending BPAL internationally.. if anything, it's actually slower. I don't know where they (the postal service, not the Lab!!) gets off calling it "priority" but it really isn't. I'm in Australia, so the same vicinity as you in NZ, and my Lab orders regularly take 3-4 weeks (12-15 business days) to get here. Occasionally I get super lucky and an order will arrive in around 8-10 business days, but that's very rare. Anyways.. I hope that helps, and yes - for now you should probably just keep waiting and hopefully your order will appear very soon Thanks, that makes me feel better. NZ Post is usually pretty good, I have had orders arrive in 5 working days before! I will keep waiting and hopefully it turns up in a few days. -

becca_s replied to Snow White's topic in BPAL FAQs
My order was shipped on 9/15 and it stll hasn't arrived. I am starting to get a bit worried because I don't think that I have had an order take so long to arrive before, it's almost been three weeks. Is there anything I can do, or do I just keep waiting? -
Autumn Scents - recommend the ones you love
becca_s replied to any_old_actress's topic in Recommendations
Glasgow is one of my favorite autumn scents, I also like Dana O Shee and Eclipse too -
I second this suggestion You could also try Lilith - Mother of Demons, Vengeful Fury, Darkest Seductress, Queen of the Djinn, Goddess of the Gate. Red wine, myrrh, black musk, and attar of rose.

This was a frimp from the Lab. On me this is a sweet, powdery rose scent. It smells like pink jelly beans and roses. It's quite light and girly, it's a bit too powdery for me though.
-
This is a sweet, woodsy scent on me. I get alot of oak and teakwood, it smells pretty authentic too - like opening the drawer of an oak desk that has been full of vanilla and tobacco. This could definitely be a unisex scent. I like this scent but I'm not really sure it's my thing, I generally don't wear woodsy scents - but other people who do would probably like Antikythera Mechanism.

This is a clean scent but I don't find it soapy at all. I mostly get soft, linden blossom and linen from this with a hint of the soapsuds in the background. They aren't actually 'soapy' though, they just add a clean element to the scent. It's not as clean as I was expecting it to be though, it's mostly floral on me. I really like this, it's quite light and seems versatile.

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?
becca_s replied to Absinthe's topic in Recommendations
I'll try to test when I get home, but to my memory they aren't similar. Pink Snowballs has a chilly quality that Victoria doesn't have, and Victoria is a bit dusty on me, IIRC. Victoria is a yellower oil, and is a slightly-dusty deeper rose scent. Pink snowballs is a bit girlier, a touch foody vanilla (which isn't to say it's foody at all--because it isn't. It's just foodier than Victoria). It's also noticeably cooler. Something like Pink Snowballs is the girl that grows up to be Victoria. On my skin, Pink Snowballs is a fresh and cool rose scent--the lab's snow note plus the barest hint of cut greens somewhere along with the predominant gentle rose note. Victoria is an elegant rose, tending towards dusty, with a hint of the lily (or other floral at any rate). It's still a fresh rose but it doesn't have the coolness nor the hint of green in Pink Snowballs. Thanks for comparing them for me! It's a shame they aren't a match. I love the chilly quality, combined with Rose that Pink Snowballs has. I might end up trying Victoria at some stage anyway, just to see what it's like. -

Can anyone tell me if Pink Snowballs is very similar to Victoria? They both have vanilla and rose, Pink Snowballs is one of my favorites but I only have one bottle. -
This isn't what I was expecting at all. I was expecting a sweet, creamy floral - but it is not like this on me. I don't get any honey, cream or mandarin. I do get the skin musk combined with slightly soapy florals. It smells like an old fashioned talcum powder, not what I was hoping for at all. I think that it's the honeysuckle that does this, it had a similar effect in Juliet. I really like all of the other notes in this and I can normally wear florals. I tried this on straight out of the mail so perhaps it needs a few days to settle. I am going to try it in again in a few days and fingers crossed I can smell some honey and cream next time.

This is a very light and refreshing scent. I love it when it's first applied and I can smell all the bergamot, tea and blueberry - they make such a nice combination. As it dries I can smell the Orris more - which isn't my favorite thing, it's ok here though, it adds something slightly powdery on the dry down. Overall though, very nice. I took a bit of a risk by ordering it because I generally dislike Orris but it doesn't seem to amp on my skin as much as it does in other blends.

Lillium Inter Spinas is my favorite sandalwood blend - but it's very floral

This is a light, fresh peachy scent on me. It does have a slightly perfumey quality to it. It dries down in a vaguely fruity scent, there is something in this which gives it a bit of kick perhaps it is the Osmanthus? This is nice for a hot summer's day and since it is winter over here I will be keeping it for the warmer weather. I like this but I think I prefer Fae as my peach scent.

I have a question, sorry if it has been asked before but .... Is the artwork on TKO meant to resemble the 3 of Swords card from Tarot or is it a coincidence? I have also seen the same symbol of the heart with three swords in it on other BPAL stuff, it might sound stupid but what is it's significance? I am interested in Tarot and have a few decks etc so I was just wondering
-
TKO is dominantly lavender mixed with vanilla on me, I don't really get the marshmallow or sugary sweetness that other people have got. I have been wearing this bed and haven't really noticed a difference in my sleeping - which is generally okay. It is a relaxing and calming scent though, it has grown on me so much over the last few nights I don't think I could imagine sleeping without it and I will probably start wearing it during the day at some stage. It dries down into a sort of powdery lavender and vanilla, it reminds me of some kind of baby product, I can't put my finger on what it is but it reminds me of something that I have smelt before that my memory associates with babies anyway. I'm very happy that I got a bottle, I think it definitely works at helping me to feel calm and comforted. I would turn to this if I ever felt sad about something. I have wondered about the artwork on it, as it resembles 3 of Swords from Tarot and whether this has any significance

This one may also be a stretch but have you tried La Petite Mort - The scent of warm, damp skin flushed with the glow of passion, touched by the luxuriant potency of ylang ylang and myrrh. I got a kind of honeyed incense from it, so you could try it.
-
I just made an order and added Schlafende Baigneuse, it sounds really good but I have never tried it. I could only order one of the Salon scents though, due to my budget and it was hard to pick between this one and The Penitent Magdalene

I would recommend White Rabbit or even Glasgow. They are both really light, fresh scents on me that also seem to fade pretty fast. Lady Una is also light and sweet. I work with infants and I also try to wear ligther scents which I seem to prefer anyway. The scents that I wear most to work are White Rabbit, Sudha Segara, Alice, Blossoms in Springtime & some other light vanillary scents.
