I am having the same problem with a bottle of Hamadryad I just received from the lab. I understand some components change, but there is no similarity at all between the imp and the bottle. The bottle smells like vaporub. What should I do? I just got a 5mL of Hamadryad and I am SO DISAPPOINTED. The imp I got a year ago smelled like spicy dry cinnamon. This one smells like wintergreen tic-tacs. Color me an unhappy bpal'er. The 5mL of Moscow smells the same, though. But I was really looking forward to having more Hamadryad-- it was my favorite and I used up the imp to the last drop.

At application: Whitish floral. Lavender, violet and rose. Tiny hint of spiciness in the background. Later: Mostly frankincense. It smells a little like these frankincense tears I bought covered with a violet-scented powder. It reminds me of a Catholic church.

I am in love with Moscow. This has to be my favorite BPAL so far. It's big bottle time! I get a rosy, carnation-y, jasmine-y floral with a hint of green stuff, amber and light musk underneath. It's very well blended; it's hard to make out the individual notes. I love it though... it smells very sophisticated. I feel cosmopolitan wearing it.

I really, really wanted to like this one. In the imp it smelled like a forest, fresh and green. Unfortunately, once I put it on, it morphed into hairspray. Cheap Rave hairspray that I used in the early 90s for my big bangs. Dunno what that's all about! This one's going into the swap pile...

In the bottle: Strong and funky. Like unwashed hippie. Initial application: Pronounced patchouli. And something else lurking underneath that I can't quite put my finger on. After 20 minutes: Patchouli, a sliver of sandalwood, something a bit animal-ish, and wood smoke. So I smell like a group of hippies at a campsite. It's not terrible, but probably not something I would wear often. I do like patchouli, but the smoky note doesn't really agree with my nose. The other posters have a point... maybe this would be better on a man than on me... hmm.

I applied this to the boy! He was amused by me sniffing him every 10 minutes to see how the scent was developing. In the imp: Smells like every men's cologne aspires to smell. Completely manly. On the boy: I get light musk, and pine. The pine really sticks out, but it's a good thing. (Am I the only one who smelled pine?) There's a touch of herbs and citrusy stuff behind it, but it's mostly musk and pine. I like it! Must apply to boy more often

The Star's not one of my favorite cards in the Tarot, and unfortunately the scent doesn't agree with me either! Whitish-yellow in the bottle. I smell mint and lemon... what an odd combination. After application, there's coconut added to the mix, and something a little green. But it's a little bit like minty lemon pledge. It's not terrible, but it's not for me.

Just applied Kabuki, and I'm liking it. In the bottle it was mostly cherry, a wet ripe cherry. But on it has more of an incense-y smell, cherry at first, then the anise and musk notes come through. 20 minutes later, it's mostly a warm anise, but it's nice. Reminds me a tiny bit of chinese five-spice seasoning.

Mmmm. Dana O'Shee smells like creamy almonds in the bottle, and stayed that way on my skin. It was a light, creamy, delicate almond scent without a lot of throw, but it I could smell it on my wrists for a long time. Very nice... and I do love almonds. I'm happy that I lost my BPAL virginity to this one
