True love renewed by night in an English garden: moonflower, Nottingham catchfly, Casablanca lily, evening primrose, night-blooming cereus, Queen of the Night, muted by the sepia tones of tonka, tobacco absolute, bourbon vanilla, and costus. On me from start to finish I get amped florals, all of the time. If florals are your thing you will undoubtedly love it, but I really wanted the tonka, tobacco and bourbon vanilla to show themselves and they just didn't. I can tell it is of course beautifully blended but my skin refuses to cooperate on this one so I shall send it somewhere else to be loved.

In some interpretations, her shield bears the eagle of dominion, in others, it is emblazoned with the symbol of the planet Venus. The sovereignty of love, the protection and succor of a benevolent mother-queen: white patchouli and helichrysum with blackcurrant, white sage, praline, vetiver, and orris root. This is straight out of the mail so I may add more once it has settles. In the bottle: its praline with a back kick of vetiver and nothing else Wet: The first thing I get is the sage, and a dryness that I presume is the orris root. Dry: As it dries, the sage stays in the forefront, very herbal. There's a depth of patchouli/vetiver but it's not overpowering. I'm not getting any currant and the praline has vanished.

A perfume of freedom, regeneration, and renewal: bitter orange and tangerine with warm patchouli, tobacco absolute, glittering amber, and white musk. This starts with the bitter orange note which is lovely. Once dry it rounds out and darkens somewhat - the orange is still there but it has taken a woody, masculine turn. The patchouli doesn't make itself stand out although I presume it's responsible for that. After an hour or so I can pick out the underlying tobacco. I can't find the amber or musk at all. This would smell really good on a man I think, but I'm unsure if it will suit me - but I will keep it to see if aging changes it.

Swift joy and bright passion: white lavender, lemon verbena, and elemi. When it's wet, and in the bottle, this is all lavender and nothing else. However once it dries it turns completely to a beautiful fresh lemon oil scent, no trace of lavender at all. It stays that way for about an hour and then gradually softens. It still remains lemony but not zingy. Lemon usually disappears fast on me but 3 hours in and its still soft lemon, very slightly herbal, but starting to fade. I can't pick out elemi under all the lemon.

White sage and patchouli with Himalayan cedarwood, sweet labdanum, and brown sugar. Sorry, this one ended up a bit stream of consciousness! In the bottle it is a very sharp sage with an edge of the cedarwood. Wet on my skin I get a peatiness that makes me think of a good whiskey, but the patchouli is just behind it peeking out from under. Drinking whiskey in a long established library on a rainy day somewhere in Ireland. As it dries I'm having a problem tearing my nose away from the scent, it is gorgeous. There's a slight citrus fizz to it and the sage has softened a lot. Gradually it softens out to a smooth herbal patchouli, so mellow and comforting that I think I will fall asleep with my wrist pressed to my nose. There's still a faint trace in the morning.

Honeyed patchouli with cypress, black pine, and tobacco absolute. Both wet and dry I get a deep dark patchouli with a hint of forest greenery and a little sweetness from the honey. I dont detect the tobacco. The throw is massive and it stays around quite a while too. I love it, and if you love patchouli you'll love it too!

Pumpkin, mandarin, black pepper, frankincense, red sandalwood, and carnation. I got a sniffie of this free ... not something I would have ordered as I would have been scared of it! The first blast is almost pure black pepper but as it dries I keep getting wafts of pumpkin. This isn't your super sweet pie type pumpkin, this is savoury, this is moroccan-spiced pumpkin. I don't exactly get the mandarin but I get a sort of dried citrus peel smell if I sniff really hard. No sandalwood as far as I can tell, but maybe it's submerged under all that pepper, which still stays dominant. I don;t recognise any carnation either - but other people have said they find carnation spicy, and this is certainly spicy so it might just be nose fail on my part. I'm really glad I got to try this one.

When wet it is laundry washed in seawater, a saltier version of dryer sheets, but on me it morphs quite quickly into a fresh men's cologne scent. After half an hour or so it turns into beautiful soft sun-bleached woods with just a touch of the ocean. It only hangs around for a couple of hours but is somehow very comforting, and not particularly masculine. If a partner of mine was wearing this I'd just need to snuggle as close as possible to them.

I got this as a frimp in a Trading Post order and have been sniffing my wrist all day but I suck at detecting notes - so here goes nothing ... Wet: It's slightly fruity, a sharp, green floral note and a sweet background. I'm not sure that I will like this. It is bugging me that I can't remember what it reminds me of at this stage. Dry: It dries to something that is definitely foody on me - maybe buttery shortbread or else pie crust - sugary sweetness, a tiny touch of spice, a richness that I think is butter and then maybe some skin musk. I really like it once it's dry. It's still lingering some 8 hours later.

Molten gold, well-oiled gears, coal dust, dragon’s blood incense, flame-retardant leather, and precious resins. It smells like all the good things that come to mind when I call up a workshop without the nastiness of smells like oily rags and paint thinner. There is a warm metal brought out by rich spices(black pepper, ginger and maybe cardamon), there is dragon's blood, but without skin to warm it, it stays a controllable level. I'm pretty sure there's frankincense too - and those well-oiled gears are oiled with something nicer than petrochemicals. To me there's the slightly citrus note from No. 93 Engine. I get a tiny hint of spicy suede, like a well worn jacket. The one thing I don't get is coal dust, for which I'm quite glad! The overall mix is well rounded, rich and welcoming and, rather unsurprisingly, warm. This will be lovely to warm up a cold dark room later in the year - something to spray when I get in from work.

 Gingerbread with vetiver, pine pitch, troll musk, black basil, clove smoke, and scorched cumin. Not the best first review because on me this disappeared into nothingness almost immediately. I was expecting something acrid and herbal and couldn't see how the gingerbread would come through - but strangely although it was all Troll when wet, once it dried I get a faint herbal gingerbread and that is all. I'm puzzled.

Honeyed camellia and bergamot with sweet honeysuckle and sugared columbine. I worried that this would be overly sweet and overly floral - it is neither. I do get a tiny bit of honeysuckle, and what I assume is camelia, but the bergamot grounds it beautifully. A spicy and slightly sweet bottle of yumminess - yet another thing I want as a perfume and a bath oil.

There’s nothing random about insects. And I admire that. They do what needs to be done to assure their survival… Even their beauty and grace are only means to ensure their species… A lustrous black patchouli attar with dried purple fruits, neroli, and opoponax. When first applied, and in the bottle, this has a lot in common with Black Moths - a very dry scent, it almost rustles, and definitely conjures up black insect wings of some type. It starts differing after the drydown, where this is a spicy but still dry fruity scent. Maybe fruity like those semi-dried plums? It doesn't have a lot of patchouli throw on me, in fact the patch is far less prominent than I'd expect.

Thick raw honey with a touch of Russian sage and hyssop. While it's in the bottle this is the richest, thickest honey ever and it's gorgeous. Once in the bath it is far more subtle - a gentle hint of honey and a fresh, slightly medicinal quality from the herbs. It doesn't linger though and feels rather ephemeral. I suspect if I used my bath oil as a moisturiser then the scent would stick around much longer.

Hi all, I don't normally dabble in TALs but wondered if anyone could recommend one to deal with dread and foreboding? My Dad has cancer which has metastasised into his lungs, and every time I go to visit (he lives long distance) I get worse and worse foreboding that this is the last time I will ever see him. I know at some point that will be inevitable but in the mean time, this feeling is paralysing me from doing anything useful for several days once I get home again. I'm hoping someone can recommend something that might be useful.

The Bay of Rainbows: red currant, orange blossom, yellow lemon peel, green moss, blue violet, and indigo poppy refracted through a shimmering pool of golden musk, mugwort, champa attar, and saffron-infused agarwood. When it's wet the main note I pick up is the redcurrant, with a slightly woody note. Once it dries down I'm finding it very hard to pick out individual notes on this as it all blends so beautifully together - if I try to concentrate on picking out a note it seems to shimmer and change quite a bit. Overall a fruity sort of incense, not overpowering and very gently musky. I don't really pick up the green moss and the noticable currant vanished as it dried but there's still a sweet and fruity note. i find myself wishing that the moss and the lemon shone through a bit more on me but it's hellishly hot here so I will retry when the weather cools down.

Sugar-dusted butter cookies with a squish of raspberry jam. On sniffing the bottle I certainly get buttery cookies, and when I put it in the water this is the smell that fills the bathroom, as if I'd been baking in there. Strangely when I get in the bath I'm not really aware of the smell of cookies any longer, but if I sniff my skin close up I get a faint hint of raspberries. It of course leaves my skin soft and silky, but didn't stick around much on my skin after the bath either, just a very faint cookie smell It might do better for those who apply the oil directly as a moisturiser.

She is doting and gentle… decidedly loving… and tends them with all of her precise, attentive Virgo care. She has a small pot of scarlet pink pitcher plants that are all her own, and two bogs that she shares with mom and dad. Rosy snap-traps, syrupy mucilage, and pink, ballooning bladders: a scent like honey cotton candy, with hints of mint, sugar crystals, and a hint of crisp, bog-moist greenery. In the bottle it's minty candy floss. When applied it's sharply mint first, then sugary mint like creme de menthe. After it dries its fruity and pink, reminding me most of Rosy Maple Moth but less citrusy, more minty. This would be a perfect early summer scent.
