    Grog

This is lovely rich butterscotch, rum and coconut - but doesn't give off the 'doused in alcohol' air that I often get from the boozier scents. It's more like a coconut caramel rum truffle. I'm not sure where I would wear this but I'll hang onto my imp

    Chaos Theory III: Strange Attractors

DCCXIII Green, cucumbery, light, fresh and with green herbs and an aquatic feel - if I could buy a bottle for summer then I would, despite aquatics never usually working on me. It's most like Squirting Cucumber, but there is some background floral that I can't identify.

Cleopatra Testing Poisons on Those Condemned to Death

One of the most beautifully complex scents I've ever tried. When wet I get dry cocoa powder, a really rich good quality type, but as it dries it morphs dramatically and is no longer foody. I get incense, sweet spices, honey, a touch of floral, but all meshing so wonderfully - a really sophisticated, poised and elegant scent. I'm very glad I bought a bottle unsniffed, and will be getting at least one backup before its lost forever.

    The Red Rider

In the imp and wet on my wrist its all LEATHER - which tends to make me feel a little nauseous but I think the balsam is moderating it slightly and making it tolerable. As soon as it dries it becomes the most realistic leather I have ever smelled. Reminds me of snuggling up under a boyfriend's leather jacket outdoors in an evergreen forest on a wet day sometime back in my teens. I'm not sure I'll ever wear it but I do appreciate it.

    Darkness

Overwhelming floral when wet, I presume that's the narcissus - if it stayed like this I'd hate it. When it dries it reminds me of old, cold stone, somewhere dark and cool - sort of what I was expecting from Kandari Kandam's description - not a moldering, slimy lichen-covered stone but something very old, very secure and solid. I'm surprised to like it but I do.

    Nemesis

When wet I get a fresh cypress that's ok but it does rather remind me of some aftershave, I think one my dad used to wear in the 70s. As soon as it dries my skin eats this and I get nothing but a vaguely fresh tinge to my skin.

    Mata Hari

In the imp it was overpowering jasmine with just a touch of rose behind it, and that was pretty much how it was wet on my skin. As soon as it dried, both florals disappeared and I ended up with a dusty wooden scent which left me rather disappointed - no coffee and no tonka to be found anywhere

    Virgin’s Blood Bath Oil

I tried this first just as a moisturiser and found it overwhelmingly heavy and cloying - it gave me a headache and I wondered if I'd made a terrible mistake Thankfully when I ventured to try it actually in a bath, it couldn't have been more different. This was like bathing in a tub of fresh red rose petals moistened with unicorn milk. Srsly. Afterwards it sticks pretty close to the skin and doesn't stick around as long as most - but while it did, I finally got the cream, along with light fresh roses.

    Sugared incense

I think I am going to use the term 'a lust of imps' from now on, it seems so appropriate! I'd suggest trying Kumari Kandam - despite the description I (and a few reviewers) get a sweet incense from this once it dries.

    Your Salon Must-Haves!

Having said I wasn't going to look at the Salon blends, I now somehow have a list of 4 I'm thinking of getting ... I have no idea how that happened Garden Path with Chickens Cleopatra Testing Poisons On Those Condemned To Death Lot And His Daughters There Was A Great Cry In Egypt If I'm going to do this at all, I really need to trim one or two off the list

Oil Equivalents of the Bath and Massage Oils?

I too have been searching for a matching perfume to Butterfly Nectar bath oil. I rarely wear floral perfumes, but I adore Butterfly Nectar, and since I have amassed a huge collection of frimps, I decided to try out the imps that have honey and a floral note listed. Bizarrely, just after posting that, I found that Wembley dries down to something very similar on me (after it has gone through its very loud and scary fruit stage)

    Patient Friendly Oils

As someone who had a lot of surgery recently, from a patient perspective I could cope with something fresh and with not much throw - I'd suggest Embalming Fluid (and cross your fingers no one asks what its called!) and then also suggest Kumiho for the gentle ginger freshness. One I've only just tried but also might work well is Gorg's Garden, it's light, slightly sweet herbal.

    The Queen's Croquet Ground

This smells gorgeous - fresh, lush, dark red roses surrounded by wet greenery. Yet another thing I need to buy full size from the Trading Post!

    Mokey

Very sweet, purple and pretty, and mainly powdery violet on me. While for once this is a floral that doesn't make me headachy or turn to soap, it's a little too sweet and girly - I want some grit or dirt somewhere in the mix

    Wembley

When wet I got a nauseating strong pineappley banana hit ... like being smacked round the head with a bowl of fruit salad - I'd almost decided that I hated it before it settled. However once it settled it transforms bizarrely into almost the smell of Butterfly Nectar bath oil ... bizarrely as I'd been looking for a perfume oil similar to this. Honey and sugar-dusted petals, with a side order of some delicate slices of fruit. What a transformation The only downside is that it fades quite quickly, 2 hours in and its very faint

    Gorg's Garden

Wet, this is very fresh, almost cologney with a lovely herbal afterscent. On drydown it gets far more fruity and the herbal side fades. I get a little whiff of the freshly turned dirt but it's mostly fruit or maybe some sort of sweet herb. There's no real throw on this one and I wish it stayed more similar to the wet phase.

Oil Equivalents of the Bath and Massage Oils?

Can anyone think of a perfume oil that is similar to the gorgeous Butterfly Nectar bath oil? I'm having far too many baths in this lovely concoction when really I should have showers and use less water.

    Twilight

An enigmatic, otherworldly scent, brimming with power and mystery. Lavender and jasmine, with a touch of glowing honeysuckle. I hate most florals, especially jasmine, and wet I just knew I was gonna hate this as I got a massive blast of sickly jasmine. I almost washed it off but I got distracted and didn't. Then after an hour or so, something strange happened ... I sniffed my wrist again and I liked it It's a beautifully melded floral, like sniffing a flower garden just after a summer rain shower, it's gorgeous. I can't see many times when I'd wear it, not sure I have that sort of sophistication, I prefer my scents more down & dirty, but I will certainly use up my imp
  20. My new summer favourite is Sphaeromachia Gameri - it's lovely and fresh

    Faunalia

Fizzy, foresty, furry and fantastic. This is the forest scent I was hoping for from things like The Black Forest - it smells of trees in general, with herbal greenery underneath, and no one thing dominates. Then on top of it all I get fizz like there is in Bon Vivant and Twinkle Twinkle. I love it and hope somehow I can find more than the tiny bit I have, this is the nicest Yule I've ever found.

    Snake Charmer

I finally found myself a bottle to see what all the fuss is about - and it was so worth it. This is a snugglier, foodier version of Snake Oil, warmer and darker and I absolutely adore it. Wet, it seemed very coconutty, along with a blast of vanilla and I worried that would overtake everything. Once it dried it all blends beautifully together, a back note of fruity coconut with this wonderful triad of musk, amber and vanilla and I can't stop sniffing my wrist. I swear if I layer this over my Butterfly Nectar bath oil then the entire world will fall adoringly at my feet.

    Akuma

In the imp: Strong mixed fruit but mostly neroli Wet on my skin: Woah! Like being hit around the back of the head with a neroli soaked baseball bat! I do like neroli but this is waaaay too strong. Dry: Once it dries I still get too much neroli for the first half hour, but after that it finally morphs into rich real fresh raspberries doused in orange juice, which is lovely. I'm just not entirely sure I want to go through all that neroli to get here

    Castitas Bath Oil

I picked up a decant of this and I loved the smell in the bottle, I got the creamy vanilla. Once in the tub the vanilla backed off a lot and I could only smell the rice flower, which is pleasant enough but rather too innocent and virginal for me. Once out and dry I could barely smell it all on my skin, just a very faint creaminess.

    Woods~

That's why I mentioned the Rocking Horse Fly - it may not be all wood, but it is at least all tree!
