    Devil's Night

i'm new to these and i'm so happy to see that this one has come out multiple years because it is SO good. imp: i'm getting something a little similar to october but it's sweeter, only a vague hint of leaves and crispness. there's a sort of something similar to halloween las vegas too, but not as foody. wet: omg, this is AMAZING! i want to eat my arm. or just nuzzle it. sweetness and crispness tempered by a bit of musk. dry: i finally understand what they mean by boozy. it's intoxicating. not necessarily alcoholic, but there's the edge there of some mulled cider under the smokiness. no vanilla for me. stays close to my wrist and i reapplied once during six hours. i thought it was gone except when i was up close but someone asked me what i was wearing, so it might have more throw than i thought. overall one of my favorite weenies. definitely a bottle and hopefully it'll be back in a year or two.

    La Calavera Catrina

bright bright bright! imp: crisp and high pitched sort of smell. it really does make me think of bright yellow flowers and, honestly, a bit of a commercial perfume. clinique happy or something? wet: whoa! really bright and sharp. it smells good but i think even my one tester swipe was too much. dry: mellows slightly but it lasts for a very long time and i can consistently smell it on my wrist through out the day. i'm not getting much vanilla but the roses are coming out. soft and sweet but not powdery at all. just a nice delicate bright rose. verdict: i was definitely going to get a bottle but for some reason the idea of suave shampoo that my friend used to use after swim practice popped into my head and now i can't get rid of it. i'll keep my imp for brightening winter days but i think i'm going to skip the bottle.

    October

this is the 2010 version. imp- at first it reminded me of a magazine perfume sample from the 90s. i have no idea what it was but it was definitely there. i didn't get any leaves or autumness at all. after about the tenth sniff i can get past the cologne smell and identify a bit of leaves. wet- ugh! sharp cologne. one i don't like at all. dry- same. i had such high hopes for this one that i tried it twice but i can't get past the sharp biting cologne association. it seems well-loved so i'll have to swap it.

    Autumn Cider

imp- apple cider simmering on the stove with cinnamon sticks. and, um, hawaiian punch? wet- i smell like the company holiday party punch bowl. a little bit of apple and cinnamon start to peek through. dry- apple and cinnamon finally take over and end up a bit overpowering. i smell like michael's craft store during the holiday's. BUT!!! i layered this with samhain 2009 and it is AMAZING! the samhain adds kind of a smokey leaf element and the autumn cider keeps it from turning powdery on me. WIN!

    How Doth the Little Crocodile

Chocolate peppermint, mint-soaked vanilla, pistachio, oakmoss, and green cedar. in the imp: chocolate and mint. maybe something else low down, but the chocolate and mint are dominant. wet: whoa! chocolate! warm chocolate cookies and vanilla. and a vague woody scent that must be the cedar. dry: the cedar and moss start to come out, a litte bit of vanilla and pistachio. nutty pistachio woods? i've started to realize that chocolate is just really dominating for me. i can smell the cedar and pistachio if i get close but from arms length it's all about the chocolate. which is great if you want to smell like chocolate. i think i'll be swapping this one. eta- this one has really grown on me! i use it for bedtime almost every night because it is so comforting. it's the first imp i have managed to mostly finish and it'll be in my next bottle order.

    The Changeling

i wasn't terribly excited to try this one but i decided that the reviews of the pumpkin sounded worth it. it is amazing! it smells very similar in the bottle as on for me, it's warm mapley autumn goodness. i can't pick out the pumpkin specifically but it makes me think of oak hardwood floors that have just been sanded down in the sunlight. it lasts and throws well and i'm getting two bottles because i will be so sad when this is gone. definitely a deeper autumn or winter scent.
