  1. Oh.... oh, YUM! This is what I wanted Midwinter's Eve to be!!

Bittersweet, tangy fruit, wet, but dries down a little bit sweeter with some "green" behind it. Oh, yes, I like this A LOT!

I can see this being a go-to late summer/early autumn scent for me.

    I think I need a bottle.

  2. Yum. I get lots of sweetpea (which I love), and something sweet to ground it, which is probably the tonka. I really like this for a springtime fragrance.

Chris says "soap" but I don't get that, I get a light, sweet, floral. Bottle? Maybe...

  3. Ok, here goes. Please bear with me, as I'm not experienced at reviews or picking out notes. I got Dragon's Blood as a frimp from the Lab. I had not even looked at the Ars Draconis part of the site because, as odd as it sounds, the thought of smelling like anything's blood icked me out a bit, and I'm not a big Dragon fan. But...since I had the imp, I had to sniff it. And it smelled so good in the imp I had to try it.

    In one word: Glorious.

It is a floral on me, too, but not one that I can readily identify. It's like the most gorgeous floral blend ever, with possibly a hint of sweet orange. If a scent could be a color, this would match the color of the oil in the imp - bright blazing pink-orange. It doesn't morph, and what I got in the imp is pretty much what I got on my skin, only warmer. It stays true for HOURS and a little goes a long way on me.

Definitely a bottle, and now I have to try the rest of the Ars Draconis line...Thanks, Beth! Apparently the Lab knows me better than I know myself.

  4. Oh.My.god. I am in SO MUCH trouble. I got this as a Lab frimp. So I'm doodling around the site trying to find the review and the first thing I see is "Drakkar, only better."

Y'all know those email memes that used to go around asking what your favorites were? Well, my favorite smell was always listed as "Chris on Saturday". Which means shower, and crisp shirt, and Drakkar and well, Chris! So when I saw that review, I tried the imp. They were SO right. To my nose, at least, this is Chris on Saturday amped to the millionth power (in a good way). Let's put it this way: If he was here, wearing this, I wouldn't be typing right now!

I can't wear it - it's too male for me (I got some on my thumb opening the imp and left it, because it just smells so "CHRIS".) But yummmmm... I cannot WAIT for him to get home and try this. If it does on him what I'm sure it's going to, there will be a bottle in his future.

ETA: I just got him to try this. I'm huffing his arm, LOL!! He says he gets the Drakkar on steroids part of it, but he's not sure it needed to be amped that much. My nose tells me differently, because if he hadn't just walked out the door on the way to Walmart I would have been steering him toward ... well, you get the idea. OMG wait, I let him go out in PUBLIC smelling like that??? The poor man will be molested before he returns to me!!

  5. This is a problem with CCnow in my humble opinion. When you order through them with a cc, there is a pending charge set up. This charge then falls off and when your order actually ships the card gets charged...sometimes showing as a double charge and then the extra amount will correct itself. I'm not sure why they can't just charge you and be done with it, but it wreaks havoc on my finances if I ever forget that this happens. Now, I may be wrong, but this is what has always happened to me...at least 10 times. I hope this was helpful...I am far from a CCnow guru. :)

Yep this just happened to me, too. But when it shows up the second time, does that mean you're close to getting a CnS?

Considering how badly this just messed up my monthly budgeting, I'll be using Paypal for future Lab orders!

  6. YUM!! Not getting any tea, but I am getting the berries and sage and woodlands. Not sweet but not tart on me - just balanced and lovely!

Oh, wait..here's the tea - and maybe some cream? or maybe it's the musk I'm smelling - and it's even lovelier. I really like this - thinking bottle.

p.s. What is it with me and scents starting with B? So far my bottle list for GC's is Bensiabel, Baobhan Sith, and probably Bewitched!

  7. Lori saw my plea to try this and very kindly sold me an imp :)

In the imp: Wow, green! Wildflowers and green...where's the plum?

Wet on me: Ah, here's the plums, but green ones...and more wildflowers and more green, very tart. Much more wildflower than plum, even green plum.

Half an hour in: The cream and ripe plum finally appear, smoothing out the tartness. I like it, but not as much as I thought I would  .

  8. Another one for the bottle list! I loved the description on this so was thrilled to get an imp of it. Tried it this morning.

Out of the bottle: Didn't think I was going to like it - VERY sharp! But I learned my lesson from Lilith yesterday, so on the wrist it went.

Wet: Sharpness gone, florals, yummm. Chris smelled it at this stage and gave it thumbs up.

Drying: It keeps changing!! One sniff will be powdery and sweet and the next will be sharper floral. I like it, keeps me guessing.

  9. Also my first experience with wine in perfume. I should explain that I can't drink any sort of alcohol due to an extremely oversensitive nose - the smell of it makes me want to hurl.

But I really wanted to try this, due to calivianya's recommendation, so...

Took the top off the bottle and got hit with what must be the wine, because I immediately wanted to hurl. OMG. But I thought, "Well, it'll probably dissipate as it dries", so I swiped some on my wrist. Luckily for me, the boozy note disappeared almost immediately, leaving me with warm spice, maybe a touch of rose? My wrist is on the computer keyboard and I can still smell this, despite the tiny amount I put on, so I can already predict that my coworkers will be commenting on this tonight!

Very different from my normal light florals and greens, but definitely not a complete loss.

EDITED TO ADD: I'm apparently training my husband. Almost the first thing out of his mouth tonight was, "What did you wear today?" and he didn't mean clothes. He liked it (hey Mikey!!) so I guess it's a keeper. I'll just have to hold my breath til the wine dissipates.

  10. Wow. This one got a positive from Chris (husband). This is not easy to do with him and scent, as he says any scent on me is gilding the lily.

Keep in mind here that I'm not used to reviewing scent, please...This was an frimp I got from Calivianya.

In the imp - almost a dusty smell - maybe the sandalwood and myrrh?

Wet - Getting sweeter - some florals, still that dusty smell but it's getting warmer...

As it dries - This is when Chris smelled it and liked it. Reminds me of golden sun as a scent. Slightly sweet with a tang of ..something...(probably the Iris).

I like it a lot more than I expected from reading the description, as I'm not normally big on sandalwood (or at least I didn't think I was, LOL!). This BPAL thing is going to turn into an adventure!
