    Beltane 2005-06

I just got around to this one. It made me think of the Van Morrison lyric, "Making love in the green grass behind the stadium with you..." Flowers and grass and sunshine and love. I wish Beltane had more endurance--it seems to have disappeared after two hours--and I liked it best on drydown and first blush. But I will be ordering a bottle if it comes around again, so I can slather it on if necessary. This is lovely. And while I like florals, they can be tricky for/on me. This one is a complete winner.

    Frost Moon

I've come to the conclusion the lunar blends can make you...loony. Take Frost Moon for example. When I first wore it, I would have described it as a chill moon, where the air was clear and crisp, but not bracing. I thought I was in love. I kept sniffing at my wrists like a junkie. My second two ventures with it were, therefore, quite disappointing. I found it overly minty and sweet...no cool air, no chill moon. I know that there are scents that grow on you, but I didn't know there were scents that you grew to dislike... Honey Moon, otoh, was love at first sniff and has never worn off. These lunar blends can make you loony.

    Moscow

My favorite floral combination (as opposed to very rose or other dominant flower scents)...sweet but not too sweet or powdery/bland or overpowering...what I had hoped for with Persephone and Juliet, I got with Moscow. Even so, not sure I need a bottle. Time will tell. But for those who are interested in a complex and potent floral...go to Moscow!

    Hetairae

Well, I'm a honey girl who was first seduced into BPAL-dom with Honey Moon. I have looked for something that could excite me as much for a long time. And now I've found it! I love fig, too (before BPAL, my signature scent was Premier Figuier), so I can finally say, "It's okay that Honey Moon isn't a catalogue scent." In fact, I think I may like Hetairae even more. Not as sweet, but lotsa honey and fig. I'm in LOVE!

    In honor of John Lennon

How cool! I don't have a lot of the scents mentioned, but I'm thinking Tintagel might work because John represents another idyllistic time <G>. And it is a real December-y scent, too.

    Black Rose

Rose is not an everyday scent for me, but I like it once in a while--if it doesn't turn soapy. I was still looking for a BPAL rose scent when I tried Black Rose. It is perfectly named. When I was young I thought the dramatic Spanish dancer in red and black on the Maja soap labels was all that was beautiful and passionate--but I didn't like the smell of Maja. I imagined it smelling just like Black Rose--drenchingly, excitingly romantic with black lace mantilla dipping and sweeping. An intense, vibrant but dark rose... I don't need a bottle of this stuff--I don't want to be a diva on a regular basis--but for the times that I do, I'm glad I have an imp of Black Rose. Now I need the black lace mantilla.

    Ace of Swords

This is so very Ace of Swords-y. Lavender, lemon, and a tiny slap of eucalyptus are the scents I get...but more importantly, it gently but firmly keeps reminding me to get back to work on my writing. It's mentally stimulating. I love it for its effects, and like it very much for its scent.

    Pink Moon 2005

I didn't think I liked sweet or foody scents, but I'm a big honey fan and this is a combination of strawberry and honey for me, with something slightly tart, too. I really like Pink Moon...more than I thought I would. Fortunately, I get not a trace of bubble gum. That would be a turn off for me.
