Hello!! Welcome to the wonderful land of BPAL!! It is vast and can be confusing, but we are here to help. I think the best thing to do now, is go to the Lab's website...on the top right, you can click on "Directory". Then a HUUUGE list will pop up, you can check by scent/notes. You can click on a note that you like, say vanilla.... it will pull up a list of all scents (some available now, some discontinued) and you can read through them and see what you might like. Then, I would go to the review section here and read up what others think of said BPAL scent you might be interested in.... it is a great way to see how others smell it or how it works on them and that will help you decide if it is one you want to try. Hope this helps... you can find a lot of bottles/imps for sale here on the forum that will be a little cheaper for you as you start testing the BPAL waters! Not sure if this is the same one I got. The bottle says "Apple Orchard" on it, but then the word "candle" is written on the side..... it was frottled to me so I was very surprised to see it! In the bottle - Guessing it is apple blossom I am smelling. It is floral to me and there is a tiny hint of apple there. On Skin - Smells the same.... good throw. Not changing much, but I do get that orchard feel to it. Dry down - I get the same as mentioned above. It does have a tiny bit of something foody and floral. I get no brown sugar/caramel out of this. It is very nice, but not sure if it is for me.

2015 version In bottle - Very sweet.... I do get that hint of something fruity, but not freshly picked fruit, candied fruit, as mentioned in the notes. On skin - OOH..a blast of super sweet cough syrup?? That was my first impression. Not sure about this. Dry down - I usually like foody and sweet scents, but something is oddly wrong with this one on me. It makes me think of what a holiday candle from a dollar store would smell like when it is lit. Gets kind of cologny on me as well after a few. I can't do this one... sorry!

This is for the 2016 version Like I posted recently for Boomslang, I missed the CD the first time around, but was able to get some W.D. along the way. I was exited to get more of this, but also looking forward to smelling new W.D. fresh from the Lab and comparing it to the aged one I have! In bottle: sniffing side by side.....2016 and the 2010 one I have, the new one is less potent, but of course, we all know how S.O. ages to perfection. On skin: At first, I just get S.O....which is good, but then that sexy soft leather comes through. I think the sandalwood tames the leather to make it perfect! Dry down: Mmm....W.D. as I love and know. This isn't as strong as the 2010 one I have, but I know it will age to the best smelling sexy leather/S.O. that I love. I love leather scents, but most I have tried seemed to be way too leathery for me... leaning towards masculine and that was never for me. If you are like me and want something more suede and sexy than in-your-face leather, then this is so for you! It is beautiful and sexy and of course more cowgirl than cowboy!! So happy to have more of this!!!!! Will be getting more back-ups along the way!

This is the 2016 version. I did leave a feedback somewhere back here.....but this is the new version and was excited to smell this fresh from the Lab since I missed the CD when I got into BPAL and I was lucky to get Boomslang before, but of course, they were all aged. I gave this a good roll.... it needs it! In Bottle: Mmmm.... smells just like the original version. Gooey, yummy, cocoa and Snake Oil. On Skin: Not as thick and dark brown as the older version I have (guessing that is the aging of it) but it smells just like the older version...maybe a hair lighter and more Snake Oil than cocoa for now, but not much. Dry down: This is JUST as amazing as the original... this, I am sure, will age just like the old ones. Back-ups..... this is worthy of MANY back-ups!! Those of you that missed out on this the first time or couldn't find any. GET IT!

I got a decant of this... Smells like a creamy chocolate.... sugary and melty. On my wrists, I get the chocolate but there is something going a bit plastic on me, and chocolate notes don't usually do that on me. It is very faint, but there and really not that bad. Stays close to my skin with a medium throw. After a couple minutes, the plastic-y part goes away, and I am left with a sweet, creamy chocolate....milk chocolate that is. Not sure I am getting the gooey inside of the creme egg, but I think I had that distinct Cadbury creme scent in mind before getting this.... it is real close to it. Very nice scent for those not sure about the sugary chocolate... it is not in your face at all.

Just like what was said above... can't really smell anything in the bottle, but once on, it is just a simple, light marshmallow. Very little throw at the moment, and I am guessing this won't last long on me either. I have a decant of The Gorobble, and if you have tried that one and it was too strong for you, then get this single note. Simple....pretty.... light. Not detecting anything "stale" in it. Just marshmallow.

Welcome!! It can be overwhelming!!! What always helped me was reading the reviews for certain scents I was interested in. On that note, also, as most here can probably agree with me, is don't rule out any scents that might have notes you don't like. For a LOOOOONG time I HATED patchouli... and I still do in a way, but there have been a couple scents (Revenant Rhythm hair gloss and Ask the Nearest Hippie) and they have been BEAUTIFUL!! AND just to make it more overwhelming, be sure to check out the Black Phoenix Trading Post.... the sister site with amazing goodies there as well!!!

Got a partial bottle in a swap.... why the heck not? In bottle - Not sure what I am smelling... I think I get fig. There is a "dry" kind of patchouli I smell. I know that seems odd, but there is a dryness to sniffing it. On skin - I get zero mango, which is ok. Some fruits can go weird on me. I think I am getting some sort of hazlenut...white chocolate, not so much, but maybe it is just well blended, and aged of course. Dry down - I think it is like smelling a nutty semi-dried out fig. It isn't bad per se...it's different. I am really on the fence with this because it is nice, but then it is odd. I am not getting any patchouli out of this, which is also a good thing, since we don't play nice. If you like foody blends but are afraid of them being TOO overly sweet or cloying, I think you would like this.

Always harder for me to smell perfume in imp form.... but I will give this a whirl... In decant - I think I am getting the teakwood....not much else. On skin - Seems real cologny on me. Could be the leather and teakwood making it seem that way. Dry down - Stays the same. Was hoping for the cacao and coffee bean would come out more, but I am not getting that. This is a manly scent to me. Not for me at all.

Agony and ecstasy: black leather and damp red rose. Can't believe I am first....seem other people would have gotten this already! In the bottle - I get roses...just roses. It is a soft rose, nothing too strong, but it's there. I am worried about it because I am not a rose fan, but most of the time, the HG counterpart to perfumes tend to work. On damp hair - Well, I still get rose. It is kind of nice. I am not detecting the leather in it, but it might be just that note that is keeping the rose from being too overbearing. But like most of us, I am sure, notes we don't like tend to be "overpowering" to our noses. Not sure I want to keep this... it is a perfect HG for springtime.... it is light and rosy, but I was hoping for a bit more of the leather to peek out. If you are a fan of light florals and roses, this is for you! Delicate in fact... to me at least.

Swapped for this one....very glad I did! In bottle - I can smell sticky pumpkin! Like gooey, creamy, marshmallow covered pumpkins! On skin - OOh, this is nice. I do amp some sort of cinnamon like note as someone mentioned above, but it isn't overpowering. Drydown - After a bit, the "cinnamon" or "spice" vibe I get mellows and then I can smell the yummy pumpkin with the teeny hint of marshmallow. I am so glad I got this. I was hoping this would be a nice, sweet-ish pumpkin and not vegetable-y, and it is. It stays close to my skin and it is very sweet and yummy, but low throw. Just right! So glad I was able to get this!!!

Oh my!! First off, THANK YOU PUDDIN' for making this a hg!! If you are any kind of chocolate lover, hoard this. In the bottle: Just rich dark chocolate!! I get a faint hint of coffee, but oh this is heavenly! In damp hair: It is thick rich dark chocolate on me! I don't get dry chocolate at all. This is the choco hg I have been wanting forever. Has a great throw and after a few, I still don't get any cinnamon, but there is a slight coffee note to it, but it is mostly a gorgeous chocolate!! Foody lovers rejoice!! Get this, and get it while you can. I am so not sharing any of my bottle and might have to get a back up!!

Got a decant of this... as others have mentioned, sniffing in the bottle, it is very spicy. Kitchen spice, spicy. I don't get any kind of pecan or any nuts out of this. On damp hair: stays the same... surprisingly low throw and soft, considering how spicy it smells in the bottle. I get cinnamon and maybe some clove. It is very lovely and so perfect for autumn/winter time. Doesn't last very long... out of the pie hg's I have (marshmallow, apple, blueberry, key lime) this one fades the fastest.

OOh yum!!! I knew I would love this!! In bottle: yep....sweet, crisp apple with hints of those pie spices!! On skin: warms up quickly and I get a burst of cinnamon apple pie!! I don't get any crust as of now, but it is a nice cinnamon apple, with a light throw. Dry down: Stays the same and I detect a little bit of something crust-like, or maybe custard-y as someone mentioned above, but this is a nice apple pie! It's a keeper!!

Yep...agree with Snake Oil. Guess it depends on what level of sexy you want.... Snake Oil is sexy, but sophisticated to me, where as O or Smut it like down and dirty sexy..... if that makes sense!

Don't know if you like the Post's hair glosses, but the coconut, vanilla bean, and tiare HG is very tropical to me!!!

For some reason, I JUST found out about this....got a hold of a bottle, so here goes... In bottle - a perfume-y wine. Not bad, pretty strong. Not getting other notes as of yet. On skin - OOh this is very good! Instantly I get the pear and oats. It's sweet, but comforting. I think I am getting the wine note...I would guess this is more of a white wine than a red wine smell. I associate red wine as being more rich and thick, and this is pale and nice. Has a medium throw to me. Dry down - Stays warm and comforting... the pear-wine note is very nice. If you are worried about any kind of wine notes, not to worry with this one. Has a good throw. On me, a little goes a long way. Very well rounded and balanced.

Got a decant of this..think I need a full bottle! First sniff...a great blast of fruity, blueberry pie filling!! This is so good. Applied to my damp hair, the blueberry filling stays true! I use about 5 squirts, since I have longer hair and it is actually very soft on me. I detect a little of the pie crust, but it is mostly thick, yummy, pie filling! It has a medium throw to me and I think this is perfect for any season! I always seem to have a problem with any fruits in perfume oil form.... they go fake or cough syrup, so if you are like me, and you want to like fruits, but they go weird on you, get this!! It stays true and real!!

Yep.....not much else to add, but yummy apple pie!! In the bottle, it is a very juicy apple with spice. My nose wants to tell me it is a green apple scent. On my hair, it is surprisingly light to medium in throw. It stays true.... the spice is light and not cloying. A green apple pie fresh from the oven!! LOVE these PIES!!!

In the bottle - very sweet cherries! I don't get cough drop cherry out of this, but it is very cherry for sure. In hair - applying it. the cherry note was very strong, but that quickly lightened up. The carnation note is starting to appear as well. I am not a fan of florals, so I am hoping it won't be ALL carnation. So, after a few minutes, this is a very nice Spring-type HG. The cherry is there and not going plastic on me like most berry notes can in perfume oil form. There is a teeny bit of spice that is there, but can't tell if it's the cherry just mingling with the carnation causing that or if there is a hidden spice note there. I am also not sure if I am getting any "snow" note, but there is something making it not too overpowering. I am on the fence with this one... I like it, but then I am not sure it is for me. VERY pretty indeed, but I am more of a sweet, gourmand foody lover and this is hovering between sweet and floral. It is perfectly balanced which is making it hard to decide if I like it!! If you love soft florals and some cherry, then this is so for you!!!

Sniffing this in the bottle, seems actually quite opposite of the name... smells like the tree just got a fill up of water. I am not a fan of aquatic scents, since they tend to smell like salt water or a mossy lake, but this actually smells like, well....just plain ol' tap water under the tree!! So amazing how this was captured! on my skin, the tree scent comes out beautifully!! Just like stated above, smells just like you are nosing around under the tree to find maybe that one last gift and all you smell is the tree. If pine/tree scents haven't worked for you in the past, try this one. It is very real and it is a perfect Christmas scent. Most pine/tree scents turn to urine on me (not literally!) but this stays true....light to medium throw!! I love this one!!!!

I got this in a decant circle, and it wasn't even a first choice...I went for it because the decanter had to eliminate some bottles, so I thought, "I'll just take one of these" and I am pleasantly surprised. For some reason, my brain keeps telling me to try musk...but everything I have tried, I hated....musk is just too.....musky, for me! So, at first sniff I thought, "Nope..this isn't going to work!!" BUT I have learned to actually test things and not go by sniffing alone! This is actually real nice! I get the blast of musk at first application...I was worried, but it faded pretty fast, which is a surprise. It didn't go away fully, but it is there. The dead leaves note is great!! I think that and the neroli keeps the musk from overpowering everything, which usually happens to me and musk. Light to medium strength on this. A decant is enough for me....I will definitely be wearing this often in the winter months!!

Got a decant of this..... yummy! In the bottle, I was surprised how creamy and sweet this smelled. Very creamy inside-of-a-pumpkin! On my hair, it stays creamy and sweet but not so much as sniffing in the bottle. I agree there is a "chai" aspect to it, but the dry grass part of it makes it real balanced! I love this one! It has a light scent on my hair to me and I think this is a perfect autumn scent!! Might need to get me a full bottle of this!
