I am one where strawberry notes don't seem to work... they usually go plastic OR they end up smelling like lip gloss, which is this description but I do like some leather blends... if blended well. So, got a decant to try! Sniffing, I get the leather, but it is actually... kind of sharp....not sure that is the right word, but not getting any strawberry as of yet. It isn't sharp as in, IN your FACE leather, but like a fresh piece of leather cut with scissors....sharp. I know, weird On skin, it does warm up and it isn't as "sharp" but still not detecting any fruit, or vanilla as mentioned above. It is lovely, for sure... I think this is very unisex. After a few minutes, it stays the same...odd, because it isn't a heavy leather scent, but it isn't a soft leather either. I get a little whiff of the strawberry...if I really lean in and sniff my wrist. This is actually real lovely... if you are like me and are afraid of strawberry and leather is one you want to love but not sure, try this one!

Sniffing in the decant, I get a very pretty sweet pine-ish type smell coming out. It smells so good... let's try it on! On skin: So far, this is very nice. Seems wintery to me.. and like above, I am getting a sweet pine vibe, but the pine is tame. Most can smell like pee to me! Drydown: Yep.. I get the Snow Glass and Apples vibe as mentioned above. That appears as it warms up. Medium throw for me....it is lovely, but not sure it's for me. Smells better in the decant than on me.

[No additional description given.] Sniffing this in the bottle.... to me, this is a close relative to El Dia Los Reyes, just less spicy. I am just testing this on my arm, but the chocolate is light and the other notes are blended perfectly with it. I thought this would be stronger, but it might be once it is in my hair... which I will edit upon testing it rightly. The amber is soft, but present... glad it isn't too crazy heavy, since amber does that to me. The nutmeg adds a perfect little amount of spice. Not sure I am getting the sandalwood. This is lovely. Edit to add, that yes... this is surprisingly light. I get all the notes. I prefer to have my HG's to have more oomph to them. but this is a lovely light chocolate, amber, sandalwood....but yes, very light throw. Perfect for having to work in close proximity to others that might get easily olfactory offended.

Well....and this is just me, but I don't have the patience to wait for a scent to age where I like it. I have to like it from beginning to end, so when it comes to, that scent, I look for the imps...that way I know I will like it. I am sure it would have, but when I test a scent from imp or bottle, I have to like it all the way through...beginning to end. Some people love their scents after waiting, but I am impatient in that area! Most imps I have tried have been the same in the bottle, but that can be a big factor...just wanted to clarify. Reading reviews on scents I was interested in really helped me when I first started out... it can be overwhelming. SO many to choose from. But if you want recs, here are all my scents that I own, and I am mostly a full on foodie: Snake Oil ( I love this fresh and aged) Western Diamondback Boomslang Halloween in Las Vegas Snake Skin Yuletide Bah! Snake Oil Jelly Donut ( I love me my Snake Oil, can you tell?) Snow White Pumpkin V 2009 Not a huge collection compared to many other people, but these are my all time favorites!

Reading reviews really help...and just an FYI, I have learned that imps can smell different than the bottle. Seems since the imp is clear glass, it can age/go odd faster than the amber bottles. Miskatonic U is a perfect example for me.. I LOVED it in the imp, so I got a bottle and it was so wrong on me!! Also, some scents get SO MUCH better with age...like Snake Oil. Let it sit in the dark for a couple months and then re-try it. But when I first got into it, it was hard finding scents I likes. Been into BPAL for going on 7 years already, and honestly, not many GC scents work for me other than Snake Oil and Poisoned Apple. I seem to only like the LE scents. Everyone's chemistry is different, so that makes it hard as well. BUT I have learned to try scents with notes that I might not normally like... and I have ended up LOVING them, due to what other notes are blended with it, but pretty much, all you can do is trial and error. You will find your likes and dislikes and will get to know what notes work and what doesn't. I am a foodie lover, and, for me, the ones that work the best seem to be the Halloween and Yule scents, which won't start showing up until late September. So maybe keep an eye on those. I think you made great first choices....but like I said, it's hit and miss and just depends on what works for you!!

Had to try this....been wanting some orange note. No others have worked for me. In decant...yep...smells like a freshly peeled orange. In fact, I smelled it before opening my package. I was worried it leaked because it was that strong! On skin...stays the same, which is good. Smells like I took the orange peel and rubbed it on my skin! It's orange but it acually has that peel smell to it as well. Drydown...seems to be fading quickly on me. Of course, to me at least, putting on oil from a decant is less than what I put on from a bottle, so maybe I need to try more, but overall, this is such a perfect orange scent for summer. Sweet, citus-y and light.

Popularized by the reality TV show "Real Cultists of Arkham Hills"! Wow....to be first!! Sniff in bottle: a slightly sweet pumpkin-ish, grainy scent. Maybe that is the treacle? On Skin: Don't get any pumpkin or pecan...although there is a sweetness to it, and that grainy scent. Drydown: Stays the same after a few minutes. Not sure if it's for me...even though I am a foodie lover, especially pumpkin scents, but this seems a bit too grainy. Was hoping for more of a pastry scent...might let this settle since I just got it!!

Got my hands on a bottle of this!! So glad! The label is so cute! In the bottle - there is a jelly scent....sweet but not overly. Like a marmalade. And there is that Snake Oil. Oh man... smells amazing! On skin - I get the powdered covered snake oil jelly donut!! Oh man... it smells so good. I get a red fruit vibe... not exactly strawberry, but some mixed berry possibly. Luckily this doesn't go plastic on me that some red fruit scents can do. Drydown - This is soooo good!! It stays true.... fried donut, jelly smeared and snake oil drizzled over it! I can imagine this will age wonderfully!! So glad I got this. Will get back-ups if it re-releases!! Thank you PUDDIN'! Edit to add: On me, this scent doesn't last too long, but hoping with age, it will change that!! Still love it though!!! Editing to add...since I got this, it is already aging nicely!! At first the scent didn't seem to last too long on me, but the Snake Oil is kicking in and it is getting stronger!! In a good way... it hasn't overpowered the jelly donut part!! SO YUMMY!!

Oak Leaf, Bourbon Vanilla, Almond Husk, and Black Leather Accord darkened by a 13-year aged black Patchouli. Boy this shipped FAST!! This review, as of now, is just my impressions sniffing. I will edit/update when I get it in my hair. Now, I never smelled the perfume version of this, but sniffing, I immediately thought this this a relative of Revenant Rhythm, but with leather! I smell the patchouli which is lovely. (this is coming from someone who usually loathes patchouli) I am sure it has something to do with not only the leather note, but I smell a hint of vanilla and oak. Can't wait to try this in my hair....It smells like the grown up version of RR. Like, if they had a family, H.M. would be the black sheep, but in a good way. Got this in my hair... it is actually a lot stronger in my hair than in the bottle. It is leather heavy and the patchouli seems to take over. I was hoping this was how it was in the bottle...but that is ok. I am sure I can re-home this!

Got a decant of this... I have to try anything with a coffee note in it. Love coffee scented anything! In the decant I get a whiff of freashly roasted coffee, but it isn't strong. Also smell what I guess is the ambrette. I have no idea what that is supposed to smell like, but I do get a slight....perfumy vibe from it. Applied, the coffee is there, but the other note gets a bit stronger on me...I wouldn't say it's an "old lady" vibe, but almost. But, looking at what I am guessing is the label art on the Lab website, it fits. Not a fan of this one... the ambrette (if that is what it is) gets a little too perfumy to me. Takes over the coffee note...it's kind of there, but I have to sniff deep to detect it. Has a good throw. So, if you are looking for a coffee note that isn't too coffee strong, then you might like this one. As for me, being a foody lover, I will stick to my Bah!!

Yes, you can cancel an order. I did it once.... it was back when the CD came back. I waited over 40 days for my order when others were already getting and reselling bottles I wanted. Just e-mail the lab and/or if you went through Paypal, just request a refund through there. No issues.
-
I would go to the Lab's website...click on "Directory" on the top right, then you can scroll down under the list of notes... find ozone, click on that and it will pull up a lot of the Lab's oils with that note in it. I would then read up on reviews for them to see if any are close to what you are looking for!

Caramelized grey matter with apple. OOH to be first... the pressure! In Bottle: Smells yummy... a "pale" caramel. Sweet, but not crazy sweet!! On Skin: Oh man... this is amazing! It warms up to a wonderful, candy-like caramel! Just like a caramel lollipop! Dry down: This has great throw on me, and I think this will be a hit!! Scent stays true... it is like a caramel apple hard candy! Something keeping the caramel from being a sticky-type scent, but this is great!! I am a foodie lover and I see this one being a true keeper that will get better with age! Want to add, any apple lovers out there, get this!! Also, after a few hours, it is still going strong and it reminds me of a stronger version of Sugar Slathered Candy Apple!! I am so in love with this!!

Snffing in the bottle.... I get a sweet, sugar cookie vibe, with a hint of cherry. Not as strong as I thought it would be upon sniffing, since most cherry scents I have tested have all been in-your-FACE to me! On skin: the "cherry" scent comes out...but, it isn't a cherry I know. Sometimes, cherry notes can go more Halls Cough Drop on me, but this one is...odd. A hair on the plastic-y side and a bit powdery. Maybe there is an almond note doing that. I seem to smell that in bakery scents. Dry down: The cherry backs down and there is a cake/cookie like vibe I am getting, but it is still a bit on the dry/powdery side. It actually made me sneeze twice when I first applied it. It is a nice gourmand scent, and I am a foody lover, but not sure this one is for me. Still hoping to find a nice cherry scent that doesn't go odd on me. Oh well. That's the way the BPAL goes!

[No additional description provided.] This one is SOOOO GOOD!! The oil is very dark in color! Sniffing in the bottle, this is so rich and chocolatey..... any choco lover, please get this now. Sniffing this, I get all the notes... all prominent. I am always leary of any booze notes, but this one is very well blended. On my skin, I smell the most amazing candy! If this was available as a valentine candy, I would be eating this hand over fist. Drydown is amazing! It stays true all the way through! Very decadant and I love it... the caramel... the whiskey..... the cardamom!! I am in love!
-
Snffing in the bottle, yep... there is a slight saltiness to this. Salty Snake Oil, but sniffing, it isn't heavy on the salt. On skin - Yep!! Salty! A little bit nutty... as listed in the notes. To me, it would be as if Snake Oil was made into a movie night snack! Something edible about it. As it dries down, it stays the same... salty nutty snake oil. It is interesting. Not sure I like this one, but maybe I will let it sit for a while. BUT I can't pass up anything that has Snake Oil in it!

Just got mine...fresh from the mailbox!! In the bottle...sniffing, a pure dry chocolate scent. Very nice. However, in my bottle, there are globs of dark things that are sticking to the sides. Must be the chocolate?I had to shake it real hard and it helped a little, but there are still globs sticking to the sides and bottom. Anyone else? On skin - as stated, it is a grown up, dry cacao I get from this. I don't get much of anything else from it. I don't detect caramel, and I am not sure what tonka is supposed to smell like, but could that be making it seem dry? It is very nice....it is a pure dry cocoa to me. Has a good throw. If you are a choco lover, you will like this one!

A glittering celebration: folds of opium-stained, vanilla-smoked lace with white cognac and a splash of champagne. WOW!!! Got this SUPER fast!! In the bottle - soft bubbly champagne-like lace... just as it's called! Did a tiny skin test, since the bottle is still cold from being outside, but on, it really gets soft and pretty. Very lace-y. The champagne is there, but it fades. Very low throw, but pretty. I think anyone that likes any of the laces, you will love this... it kind of reminds me of Antique Lace!!! Feminine and soft. Been a few hours, and this gets real pretty..... very lace-y with soft vanilla. I don't get champagne anymore from first application or from sniffing in the bottle!

Always fun (and hard) to be first! In the bottle - Pretty sharp to my nose. Heavy bayberry!! Not getting any candle out of this yet. On skin - Ah, there it is... takes a second, but as it warms up, there is that fake candle!! It is amazing how Beth does it! This is really a fake bayberry candle!! As it drys down, it stays pretty sharp....bayberry ain't playing games here! This is exactly what it is.....Fake Bayberry Candle!! I don't think it will be for me, but wow....very fun to try this and amazed at how true to the name it is!!

WHOA!! First sniff in the bottle...is a blast of....not sure what I am smelling!! Heavy... very nasal clearing! Could be something like camphor...not sure, but along those lines! On skin - Ok, it does settle into what smells like an almost burned down fire, but there is also something green?? I know that doesn't make sense, but there is something semi aquatic there.... very faint! Surprising low throw on me, but it is more masculine to me. Think this would be better on a guy.
-
Got a decant of this!! Sniffing, I get a very sweet, purple-y fruit... but I get a bit of the patchouli hiding there. I get where people think a bubblegum scent being there. On skin, it stays very sweet... and there is that leaves/patch scent lingerng with the fruits. I am not picking up on any wine note, but I know zero about wine and don't know what bordeaux actually After a bit. I can see how this is made to be like a grape bubblegum. It is like that, but I get the dark patch note with it, but it is blended nicely...not a dirty patch, but a smooth and soft one with the fruit notes. It has a good throw on me, but not sure I need a bottle of this.

Milk Chocolate, Cacao Cream, Ceylon Cinnamon, and Coffee Absolute
Numanoid replied to suki's topic in Lupercalia
Got a decant of this. Sniffing, I too get the initial El Dia Los Reyes relative. I agree that it is a bit softer and cremier than El Dia. On my skin, it softens up even more. I too detect something a little plastic-y. I get a teeny hint of coffee and the caco cream. No cinnamon...if there is chocolate there. I am not detecting that either. It is nice but light. Glad I just got a decant because I am not sure I would end up wearing this. -
So, I decided to try this one in my second Luper order!! I am always iffy when it comes to leather notes, since they can be TOO heavy or way too light. Maybe it's me. Sniffing in the bottle, think someone said this above, but it is a clean leather. Not worn or old...freshly made. On my skin, it stays the same and it is real nice. It warms up a bit and gets a little more "aged" smelling...like it's been worn a couple weeks and broken in. On me, it stays close to the skin, but has a nice throw. I know that doesn't make sense, but there it is. This is a great leather scent... perfectly unisex. Not too sweet for guys, not too masculine for the ladies. If you are like me and like not-too-over-the-top leather blends, get this one! I think it would make a great layering note as well.

Always fun to be first!!! All I can say is....YYYYUUUMMMM!!!! If you ever got the chance to try the perfume oil, this is JUST as yummy!! Sniffing in the bottle, it is a delicious mixture of all three...chocolate, espresso, and gingerbread!! Haven't had a chance to test this yet, since I already showered for the day, but I can tell this will be amazing on!!! If you liked the oil, you will not be disappointed!!!! GET GET GET!!! UPDATE: So I used this today for the first time just out of the shower...any of you non-bath takers, NO FEAR!! This goes on beautifully and soaks in without any oily residue, but leaves skin soft and the scent.... I was so hoping and wishing on every shooting star that they would make a 5ml perfume oil of this (hint hint) because I got to try the imp of it and it was not enough. When I saw this came out in bath oil form, I had to have it....might have to get a back up to last me!!! PLEASE make a gallon bucket of this in perfume oil!!!!

Oh...my....gosh!!! Ok, anyone that loves Snake Oil and loves Western Diamondback, you need this!! To me, this is the big brother version of WD!! I can see this aging to utter gorgeousneous!!! It is a beautiful leather Snake Oil! The leather is blended perfectly to me....but yes, a little more dense than WD. This is going to be a back up bottle worthy!
