Pretty much what was said above! I got a small frimp of this and yes...on, it is a nice beautiful vanilla with a hint of some sort of floral to it. I am so NOT any kind of floral fan because most of the foral notes are just too stong on me, but this is very nice. It is a mature scent, but not overpowering. Best way to describe it. Stays very consistent from application to hours later...and it lasts!! I have yet to smell Antique Lace, so I can't compare to that one.
-
Well, not sure how you feel about Irish Moss, but that is a note in the Economic Recovery imp that BPAL gave out for Black Friday sales.
-
Was frimped this..so here goes: Wet in vial: Hmmm...a slightly spicy No. 2 pencil. On Skin: Same kind of herb-y pencil smell. Drydown: Pencil smell fades, but still there. Softens a bit and get a little more sweetness..I don't get patchouli at all out of this, which is kind of good, since I really HATE that note. Very faint and not much throw on me.

2012 version Wet in vial: Yum!! Fruity, and yes, a bit boozy...but toward the wine side, not hard alcohol boozy. On Skin: warms up to a nice cozy, grape and cranberry-ish wine scent. I am not into wine or boozy scents, but this one, so far, is nice. Drydown: Stays the same...fades a bit, but stays true. Doesn't morph on me too much. Makes me think of sitting at a romantic candle light dinner with wine.

Wet in vial: Sweet candy-like smell...not overpowering. On Skin: Still sweet, but something almost floral pops out. I seem to be sensitive to any tiny amount of florals, and they scream from me, so on me, it is almost like what a fake flower would smell like, but not plastic ones, if that makes sense. Drydown: Stays pretty much the same...ends up a sweet floral on me...very girly in my opinion, but not too overbearing, just not for me.

Wet in vial: Nice pine scent...a bit strong, but nice. On Skin: WHOA NELLY!! The SECOND I put this on, it went super hyper-piney on me. Eyes watered, sinuses cleared! Only lasted a few seconds, but ouch! Drydown: Peppermint comes out, but mixed with the pine, on me, smells like a dollar store cleaner! I had high hopes for this because I would love to find a nice tree/pine/Christmas scent, but they all go Pine Sol on me! This was a no-go for me!

Well, I found a good trick to help me get to sleep, but it doesn't require BPAL! So, what you do is when you are lying down, all comfortable, start counting backwards from 300....BUT do it in 3's. So 300, 297,294,291, etc etc....it really works. It helps to clear your mind and relax it. I am always out by the time I hit the 250's!!! Hope that helps!

Hello and welcome!! Now, I am not as versed as some of the other great forumites here, BUT try not to totally rule out notes that don't work for you. Only because there are sometimes a possible death note in a blend that you might think, "UGH, no way", but then when you actually try it on, it can be awesome!! I ALWAYS recommend Snake Oil...that's just me, but look at the review pages as well, they are real helpful in letting you know how a scent is on someone...even though the same scent can be different on one person than the other. Good luck and welcome to the insanity!!

Odd... I get no real bakery gingerbread out of this. It is almost a heavy floral with a sprinkle of some raw ginger something in there. Maybe I go a mislabeled bottle? Maybe I need to let it sit, since I JUST got it in the mail. But this is no bakery scent to me...and it hangs around kind of thick!!!!

I am getting some Yules today that a wonderful friend picked up for me at the Will Call at Dark Del, but I need to figure out how to posts pics here!!!

Can someone tell me what year(s) the amber GC bottles with the white labels and scroll work are? I recently got a bottle of Poisoned Apple with that and the gal I got it from was not sure of the year...Thanks!!
-
WOW!! Got a partial bottle of this and it is a wonderful and perfect autumn/holiday scent! I get mostly orange, but it a nicely spiced orange...not citrus-y at all, if that makes sense. There is a sliver of pumpkin I get, but never fear you pumpkin haters out there. Very warm and bakery-like. Having this on just makes me want to wrap up in a huge warm sweater and curl up with cocoa in front of a fire!!! Very good!!

Chocolate and Cocoa, in every combination possible
Numanoid replied to mand's topic in Recommendations
Awww, but it's a LE - thanks for the suggestion, though - I appreciate it! I try not to do LE; they break my heart every time! I hate running out of something I love, and then not being able to get it anymore (That goes for makeup too, not just BPAL). Let me tell you about my BPAL LE heartbreak - summer of 2009, there was the Summer Garden Series, and since it couldn't be imped, I took a gamble on a whole bottle of Pink Plastic Flamingo. To say that I fell head over heels in love would be putting it mildly - it was probably one of the most gorgeous and unique scents I've ever experienced. And although I have a boyfriend that I adore, I got more attention from every single guy in my office that summer! All I heard all summer long was "God, you smell amazing!", which never happens for me. And then, boom - all gone. Limited Edition. No more Pink Plastic Flamingo for me. So yeah, I guess you could say that my whole reason for steering clear of LEs all started with Pink Plastic Flamingo! (It broke my heart, Fredo - it broke my heart!) Yes, I fully understand!! But it's hard to stay away from them!! But even GC ones can be discontinued in a heartbeat! -

I am a foody lover, and love chocolate scents, but for some sad reason, the GC chocolate notes don't work for me, so I guess that is why I always go for the LE's. Boomslang is my favorite dark choco scent that isn't too foody. It is the perfect blend of dk choco and snake oil, but can be hard to find. A lot of the Lupers have choco notes, so maybe check the review threads on those? Good luck in your search!!! -
Yeah, when I have used PP, I usually don't get any confirmation from the lab, but when it has gotten close to the 3 week time limit, and haven't gotten my order, I usually shoot them a mail, and I get a confirmation, response, tracking etc etc...they are good about that!
-
Well, the Lab has some Halloween scents (only until Nov 30th) that have a haunted house theme....Atrocious Attic, Lurid Library, Bloody Banister, The Chilling Cellar, Forbidding Foyer, and others! Maybe??

Hi Numanoid, Not sure about the other Will Call locations, but at West Coast Will Call, Puddin will bring in Trading Post items when he has stock on hand. In my experience, there is always a bit of GC and current LE product available for purchase. I've picked up bath oils, atmos, soap, and BPTP perfume oils at WCWC over the years. I've never asked Puddin about whether he brings in goblin squirt atmos, but he's brought in atmos, bath oils, massage oils, perfume oils, soaps, candles, socks, tees, Lunacy tees, imp cases, lockets, pendants, candies, and nail polishes at various times. Puddin will occasionally bring protos in as well. Hope that helps Thanks!! That does help...I have a friend that might be going to the WCWC on Wednesday, so I am trying to giver her a list of things I want!!
-
Forgive me if this is in the wrong spot, but can't find anything like this here in the massive posts, BUT since never been to a Will Call, do they ever have Trading Post items at them? Like soaps, bath oils, etc etc? Just curious?? Thanks for any info!

I can't do any booze scents either, but Milk Chocolate, Coconut, Cardamom, Rum and Ginger Truffle is very non-boozy to me!
-
Milk Chocolate, Coconut, Cardamom, Rum and Ginger Truffle... nice, sweet, foody, and perfect amount of cardamom in my opinion!

Halloween In The Miskatonic University Library

In decant: Smells like a lovely Pumpkin Latte...almost a softer version of the P.L. release On Skin: Pumpkin fades immediately... turns to cologne on me, but it is a soft cologne, good throw. Hour later: Still is true to the cologne scent...it is like a bottle of it was spilled on an oak table months ago! It is nice, but I think, for my tastes, this would be nice on a guy! Not for me. -
In the bottle, smells very spicy/vanilla-ey. On skin: it is a nice autumn spicy scent but I am kind of disappointed at the lack of vanilla on me! It is a nice scent, but not complex on me... can't decide if I should keep or swap away! Been thinking about this....and it reminds me of a slightly paler version of Blue Pumpkin Floss!!

Wet: in the bottle, I do get a hint on mango and some spice. Is it me, or does this oil have a perfectly fitting pale green color to it? On Skin: not a lot of mango, which is good for me, was afraid of the mango note, but warms to a nice spicy, pale, pale tea scent. Was also not too sure about the tea note, those are usually bad on me. Drydown: Very warm spicy soft tea scent, with a dash of pumpkin. This is a lovely blend, perfect for Fall. Foody lovers will love this! I like it, so my decant should be enough!

A very nice vanilla smell in the bottle...it is just right to me, not too soft and not too strong as some vanilla can be for me. However, applied...it stays vanilla, but I get a strange, almost floral cologne scent that is lingering around..could that be pear? I don't know, but doesn't smell like pear to me...it is like a slight florally vanilla. Has a good throw but I am not a floral fan at all, so this will have to go to a better home! Adding...this is a 2012 Weenie bottle!

Wow!!! First sniff from the bottle....STRONG caramel BOOZE!! Almost feel woozy just smelling it. The booziness fades only a bit on my skin....I don't get honey or almond from this. Might seem odd, but the closest I can come to describing this on me, is a caramel flower soaked in booze. I know, no floral note listed, but that's what I get!!
