I give a second to Elegba!!!! That one is real nice...tropical, and not overly foodie!!
-
Maybe try any of the "Lick It" blends from past Yule LE's? They start out WAY minty, but fade real fast to a soft, warm mint on me. Also, Snow White had a soft mint on me as well... LOVE Snow White! Good luck!!

The smell of smashed gourds and seventeen-thousand football-frenzied ghouls tanked up on Kadathian Spiced Black Tar Cacao Lager. Just got this in a swap...been wanting to try this!! Anything that mentions chocolate and spice, well, right up my alley!! Wet in the bottle : First sniff...a spicy chocolate! Makes me think of a delicious cup of Mexican hot chocolate! On Skin: WHOA nelly...yep, get instant cinnamon! Just like someone mentioned above, it is a Red Hot candy cinnamon. Luckily that fades quickly and mellows to a not-so-nose burning cinnamon!! Drydown: Mostly just cinnamon and spice. The lovely chocolate at first sniff seems to have lost the fight. It's there a little bit, but it is like it is on it's last breath! Not sure if this is for me, but might try again come fall when the weather isn't 100 degrees! Funny how that can make a difference!

Here we go... Wet in bottle : something sweet and a dash of "laciness" to it...very pretty. Might be a floral note making the lace scent. On Skin : Still sweet. I don't get any "bubbly" with this as stated above. I get some creaminess with it. Really does make me think of a pretty lace shawl, but in a good way...not in an old lady way. Drydown: Sweetness fades a bit and so does the light floral aspect of it...but in a good way, for those of you nervous about overly sweet or overly flowery scents. Very warm scent with a decent throw.

Wet in decant: Like above, gritty, a bit dirty On Skin : UGH!!! Not good... for some reason, on me, it smells like some kind of leather that got peed on! Drydown : No change...just dried up to the same dirty pee smell. Very disappointed, but hey, I have a decant to pass on!

Oh my...oh me, oh my!!! I just got this today...purchased from a lovely forumite...and I am in foodie lovers HEAVEN!!! Wet: In the bottle, sniffing...I get the pumpkin, coffee, and vanilla! On Skin: I smell everything!! It is a gorgeous and yummy pumpkin, spicy, chocolate dream. Just want to start decorating for Halloween and cozy up to a fireplace...even though it is only June!! Drydown: Stays the same....I get the hint of hazelnut, but mostly spicy pumpkin goodness. This is one of those bottles that you have high hopes for, and when you get it, put it on, it BLOWS those expectations out of the water, because it is THAT much better!!!

Got a decant of this... Sniff: Yummy coffee and chocolate...perfect! Not too sweet or overpowering as some coffee notes can be, to me at least! On: Coffee and choco fade in the background and the rose comes out...that too isn't strong, but being that I am not a rose fan (and was nervous about that note) it hangs around for a bit! Drydown: The rose fades, which is good, but there is still a hint of it, so rose haters, don't worry! The mellow coffee and choco note comes back and they blend wonderfully!!! I love this!!

Left His Nurse While In a Crowd
Numanoid replied to pinkstardust420's topic in Black Phoenix Trading Post
So, I won a bottle in a recent Ebay auction...got it today!! Wet: Smells like creamy chocolate!! On Skin: Chocolate fades to a perfect amount. The creamy berry mixes with it perfectly. I was worried about the tea, berry, and cream notes. Not a tea fan and most berries (strawberry, cherry, blackberry) goes plastic or medicinal on me. If something it too creamy, it is just bad!! Drydown: A WINNER!!! This is perfect!! If you are a foody lover like me and have fears of the same notes as listed above, don't fret!! I don't get any tea, but I can smell the berry, chocolate, cream and cakes in a perfect harmonic blend!!! It's a keeper!!!! -
Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils
Numanoid replied to friendthegirl's topic in BPAL FAQs
Just to add to the convo and TMI bit, did you recently have a baby? After my son was born, all the lovely scented things I loved (perfume, candles, lotions, shampoos, etc etc) made me NAUSEAUS!! That was almost 6 years ago, but my scent preferences have changed and I can love things like that again, but what I love now I know I would have hated before having him. Also, let some of those imps age. Snake Oil is yummy new, but after a couple months, OH BOY!!! -
So... I got a teeny tester in a recent swap!! So exciting to test the "Holy Grail" of BPAL!! Sniff from decant: I get sweet and sexy all at once. I am a foody fan and of course a Snake Oil lover, so this is a plus so far! On Skin: Sweetness hangs a bit, but not overly to me. The muskiness of it starts to come out. I think this is exactly what the front walkway of a brothel would smell like! Drydown: It softens up a bit, but at the same time has a decent throw. I am glad I don't love this since it is so VERY hard to get (would be easier to climb Mt. Everest!) But to me, if you like O, Smut, and/or Womb Fury, this would be for you. Smells like a mix of all three, but not too strong on me as those 3 can be!!
-
Well, I don't know about whipped cream scents, but I LOOOOOOOVE The Gorobble..... "A scent redolent of the crusty exterior of burnt marshmallows." and it smells EXACTLY like burnt campfire marshmallows!!!!! Very YUMMY!!
-
JUST got my bottle from my awesome fairy!!! Here goes: First sniff: Yep, sugary ginger and a hint of....wax? Kind of incense-y. On Skin: VERY nice ginger scent...sweet but not sugary. Drydown: I start to smell the vanilla/cardamom. I don't get any boozy note, which is good, since most booze notes don't work for me. Think this is a keeper for me. Will have to live with it for a bit.
-
Sniff from decant: Very fruity and lovely, but not too fruity, just right!! On Skin: OOH this is lovely!! I smell all the ingredients...orange, raspberry, lime....this so far is going to be a perfect summery scent for those who are not too fond of over foody and sweet scents. Dry down: low throw, but stays true. Nice and light for a hot summer day. Makes me want to break into a box of popsicles and sit out in the sun!!!!
-
Sniff from decant: Sweet, pale, lovely marshmallow and strawberry. The strawberry is very nice, not overpowering like some fruit scents are for me. On Skin: foodies fade instantly and left with a creamy rose scent. Must be the vanilla playing with the rose. Dry down: Stays true, but think it is not for me. Seems most florals got "granny" on me. Was hoping this would be different, but that is ok...

Not sure I can think of any scents that remind me of Disney World, since the one time I went was in Sept/Oct and it was blistering hot!! So I guess anything that smells like hot cement and cotton candy!! As for Christmas, for me, Orange Pumpkin Floss is so holidays for me!! I know it was released as a weenie (and I think it is still available on the Trading Post) but I so love it...just makes me want to decorate the house and build a fire!!!
-
OOh... this is nice! In Bottle: Sweet, crisp green apple! Not too strong, not too weak On Skin: Have to agree with the above...it is like a softer version of Snow, Glass, and Apples and it is holding hands with Poisoned Apple! S,G,& A on me was too strong, and P.A. went weird on me, but so far, this one is a nice true apple-y musk. Dry Down: Fades a little, but that is ok. I think this is a very nice summery scent. Especially for those who don't want anything too fruity, pale, or flowery, but has a little kick to it!

Notes That Don't Work, Blends That Do
Numanoid replied to tharsei-thanate's topic in Recommendations
I second Elegba...coconut is ALWAYS nasty on me, but this one works well. I also can't seem to find a nice "boozy" note that works, so try Elegba. Also, it might be just me, but I have tried many different years of Snow White and for me, the 2010 one wasn't good, even though the other ones I have tried, (2007,2011,2012) were delicious. So maybe if you can get your hands on different years, maybe?? -
Cake, cookies, donuts, baked goods, even Cinnabon
Numanoid replied to imaginepageant's topic in Recommendations
Yes, sadly this did not come out as a bottle...it was a freebie given out at a Will Call a long time ago, but maybe you can collect a bunch and have a bottle's worth! Good luck!! -
Just got a deacnt off of Ebay...it is very yummy!! However, to me, it smells JUST like Pumpkin Latte. Starts out pumpkin-y and creamy then as it dries, I get the spices coming out. Also says it's from 2007, so maybe because of the age? A keeper!!!
-
For me personally, I have had variances (sp?) in of course Snake Oil, but that was due to age, and bottles of Boomslang and Pumpkin Latte....also not sure if it was due to age, but so far the differences were not THAT extreme, they all still smelled great, in the bottle and on! Could there have been a mislabled bottle maybe? I read on here that that happened a while ago with Snake Charmer & House of Mirrors. Sorry that happened to you though!

Mayan Chocolate with Annatto Seed, Anaheim Pepper, Cinnamon, and Vanilla Bean
Numanoid replied to DJ Sin's topic in Lupercalia
Sniff in decant: Hmmm...not much chocolate either for me. Must be the annatto seed I get...very light spice, but mostly something like you would smell from a field..not in a bad way. On Skin: I get a hint of the pepper emerging, but still has that underlying "seed" smell. Still no chocolate! Dry down: Hmm..it's nice, but kind of disappointed. No cinnamon, vanilla, or chocolate to me. But it's ok...saves my wallet. -
Dark Chocolate with Wormwood, Fennel, Sweet Flag, and Lemon Verbena, Dusted with White Sugar
Numanoid replied to Spork's topic in Lupercalia
Oooh.. Sniff in decant: chocolate and a hint of lemon! Is hard to mix...it does separate. On skin: Chocolate seems to fade and I get the lemon right away. Dry down: Still get just lemon and not much else. Can't pick out any other notes, but I think that they are keeping the lemon from not being too overpowering. After a few minutes, I can get a hint of maybe the sweet flag. (?) I get a faint hint of something meadow-ish I think this would make a nice spring/summer scent... I was hoping for more of a chocolate in this, but not on me. -
Just opened my bar today...couldn't wait any longer to use up the one I have currently!! So, might update this later, but it is a dark brown color with little orange flecks in it. Not sure it smells like candy corn to me, but it does kind of smell like chocolate play-doh. Will of course keep using it, but for now, yeah...no candy corn. Update: Been a couple days, and yep...just smells like choco play-doh. Sadly can't go on using!

I have been wanting to try this, and finally...I get to! I always seem to have trouble with BPAL's berry notes, like strawberry, cherry, blueberry...they seem to go plastic on me, so although excited to try this, a bit worried. In Bottle: Yummy blackberry jam...I can see where someone might get a booziness from this, but mostly very sweet. On Skin: So glad the berry stays true...no plastic yet! Few Minutes in: Sweet berry scent softens, but overjoyed!!! No plastic on me. I don't get floral either and I tend to amp ANY floral! Dry Down: The buttery scone peeks through, but stays very balanced! I can smell the berry and pastry...this softens nicely, so you non-foody lovers have nothing to fear. Stays sweet but I think it can be worn by foodies (me!) and non alike! Very nice scent!

Wet in bottle: Mint...it's nice...not too strong, not too soft. On Skin: Mint warms up and becomes a bit more stronger, but not the "sinus clearing" strong. Few minutes in: The vanilla comes out and balances it out nicely...mint tones down, but hasn't disappeared. Overall, I think this is a nice version of the Lick It series. I think, in my opinion, that the vanilla keeps it around where as the other Lick It's I have tried have faded quickly. This stays, but not a lot of throw, which I think is good...I think if this were any stronger, it would be cloying...not sure if I love this enough.
