In the imp: Buttery sweet popcorn/Candy Wet: Buttery Sugar/slight cotton candy Dry: Still a buttery warm note to it but more sweet and balanced. The "butter" note softens and there's a slight slight slight hint of woody polish to the top of it. Overall, it's very light, sweet and warm. It's not super duper rich, but is a great everyday scent if you love foody/sweet scents. I was sad I didn't get more actual pink cotton candy smell, it was more of a yellow warm butterscotchy type feel (though not actual butterscotch) The throw was low-medium, but when my body temp heated up I could catch wafts of it. It lasts pretty long considering how light it is. I really like this and want a bottle!

Frosty lilac petals, iris pallida root, orris, violet leaf, white chocolate, coconut, wild lettuce, white sandalwood, and oakmoss. I had to try this based on the concept alone as I love, love, love the Last Unicorn. I really don't like chocolate scents as they tend to have that super fake sickening sweet cocoa butter quality to them. So, when I first opened this, I thought there was no way this would work on me and for awhile I wasn't that fond of it, so I passed it off to my sister. Only recently have I realized how beautiful and simply complex this perfume is. The white chocolate fades within the first couple of minutes of wear and what's left is a beautifully feminine, soft, and delicate scent with pretty good staying power. It tends to last about 4 hrs on me. Not bad for how soft the notes are. I definitely get the flowery lilac, a touch of violet, the coconut--which adds the perfect amount of warm sweetness, and just a glimpse of the sandalwood. What I really love in this blend though is the oakmoss. I think it lends this wonderful damp ethereal earthiness to it that makes it so special and unique from other bpal scents. To me, it envokes pale lavendar, soft rain, and baby's breath (not the smell). This has become my go to daily scent because it's just so lovely and makes me feel lovely! oh and someone said this could be unisex... um.... if a man wore this around me, I could imagine it would be extremely enticing.

I am in love. This is just OMG! How have I overlooked La Petite Mort? HOW? I have tried SO and O hoping that they would be that perfect "sexy scent" but neither quite worked for me or with my skin chemistry. SO was way too musky and smelled like BO on me -- ha. O was better, but still too much musky-sweaty smell. This is perfect! Light with decent throw, sweet, hint of a clean linen smell, floral, and a hint of musk -- not drowning in it. This is elegant sexy, not "6am Walk of shame," sexy. haha. No offense to those who love the other scents. They are great ... just not on me. Just when you think that you know what you do and don't like... BAM! You find a new treasure. THIS is why I love BPAL. I think I MUST HAVE a bottle of this. But for now, I have two imps full.

Hmmm... this one is so unique and different from my other bpals In bottle: Mint and something floral Wet: Fruity! what? Not expecting that. Bright and sharp, but sweet and the sour tang of apples w/ something piney and slightly medicinal in the back Dry: Still fruit and medicine. So strange. I don't hate it, but it's definitely not what I was expecting. I have a huge obsession with mermaids and I bought this hoping it would smell like the mysteries of the ocean, mist, cool water, salty breezes... but it doesn't do that for me. Still on the search for a mermaid-y scent. Sigh. Interesting, I'll have to wear it again and see what happens. Although it's not my typical scent style (I like sweet spicy resins) it might grow on me....

There's something so pleasant in this strange blend. The minute it hits my skin it's all peppermint but dry and subtle like a jar of stale mints. Next the lavender comes up, but it's not bang you over the head lavendar, it's soft and sweet. I would never pick this out for myself and received it as an imp. I instantly fell in love with it, but not because it smelled "good." Mad hatter brought me back to being a child--playing in my father's old military jackets lined with fur and pretending I was out in the wilderness in the freezing cold. This smells just like my father's old ---almost mildewy--- (I know, sounds strange) stale jackets that have been stuck in the closet too long and still have hints of his lagerfeld cologne. (which I often wear myself--love gender neutral scents) Expect this to smell like a lavendar pastille candy mixed with a stale mint and a hint of whatever that smell is that lingers in old linens and grandma's house. Sounds unappealing, but man is it wonderful.

In the bottle: Yumm. Cake and Vanilla and creamy goodness. Wet: Super delicious smelling vanilla cake Dry: Creamy Vanilla with a touch of butter and a bit of depth. After a while it winds down to mostly a rich deep vanilla. Yummy I never really got any currants from it, but that's fine with me. Maybe that's the bit that's giving that extra oomph that makes it better than -just- vanilla cake. Because it definitely smells like more than your avg. vanilla scent. It's complex and simple at the same time. LOVE this. I think I'll have to switch out my normal "Hair scent" with this. *squeal*

Finally starting to go through some of my imps! In the vial: Smells like a very generic bpal scent with a touch of fruit, hard to tell what it's gonna smell like on. (IMO, many smell the same before they're put on) Wet: Slightly herbal and woody with sweet juicy berries. Drydown: The tea is gone it it's now very sweet crisp berries with just a touch of green/woods underneath. If you're wanting the woodsy/green notes to be prominent, this probably isn't for you. Overall, very nice. I don't tend to go for fruity scents, especially "berry" ones, but this is really lovely and I can see myself reaching for it when I want a day off from my typical sweet resin oils. now that I think about it, ---and not that it smells exactly like it---- but, this kind of smells reminiscent to how a berry tums tastes. haha.

(2006 version) Just received this in the mail. SO glad I now own a bottle In the bottle: Sweet smoke--- At this point I was feeling worried and wondering why I am I so impulsive to buy bottles unsniffed- But the reviews were wonderful, sooo...... On me: Sweet and sour (not bad sour-- sour like grapes) I'm definitely picking up fruit. VERY fruity. With warm pulses and an ever so slightly dark smoke smell hovering in the background that only reminds you OF smoke, rather than literally smelling like it. It must be the tobacco playing in. The floral quality comes out but doesn't punch you in the face. It's extremely well blended and just smells plain AWESOME. Later: Smokey Poison. YUP. Smells pretty much like a wonderful version of poison, but more complex with rich and warm depth, more personalized, it doesn't sit on the skin, it melds into it and wafts around. It's very complex. I don't get chocolate or pastry really and I think it's because this bottle is very aged. It would be neat to be able to smell it fresh as I'm sure it would be a very different smell. There is that obvious sweetness to it, but it's more inscense sweet and less pastry-vanila-chocolate-sugar sweet. I'm really getting a purple-topaz vibe. Love it! I've worn poison all my life, my mother gave me my first bottle, and this feels like poison... vamped up BPAL style.

Snake oil is just a little bit of everything shmexy. It's warm rich vanilla, more inscensy than spicy, has a resin quality without being total babypowder, and musk. I mean... come on. I thought it was just "ok" at first. I recently got my sister into bpal--which is great, b/c we can coordinate what we're buying so we can try MORE-- eep! Anyhoo, she walks by me one day-- and oh. my. gosh. What is that smell?? I ask her. Snake oil! I think it smells a tad bit better on her, but I still love it. (although, honestly, every perfume smells better on her, she's just one of those gorgeous lucky people who attracts others like flies) AFter smelling it on her, I had to give it a real try. So I've been wearing it more often. It's very feminine and sexy, leaves a trail, but not overpowering. I've already had several people smell me and say, "someone smells amazing." Also, it really does last and last. I like to put it in my hair... either straight from the vial or using some I mixed with coconut oil that I put on my ends. It smells great forever. You know how you'll wear a traditional perfume and it always smells better at the end of the day, b/c it's had time to mix with your scent and fade into your skin? Snake oil does that straight from the beginning... I think that's why it's so popular. It makes you smell like you just smell amazing all by yourself.

So, I've had this for awhile as an imp that came in my order. I smelled it when it came in and quickly put it away, just from the smell in the imp. Well, I've been searching around the forums for awhile now and in passing have seen great reviews on it. Deicding I need to try more of my imps, I look through my stash to see what I haven't given a shot. Villian. Hmmm... there must be a reason why people like it so much. SO, I put it on and immediately the strong lavendar smell that put me off is gone and what's left is a light, bright, pinpoint citrus soapy smell. I had to look up the notes on this. I would never try something like this and would never imagine it would smell soapy, nor would I imagine I would actually LOVE something so soapy smelling. But I do. I absolutely love this. I can't stop sniffing myself, as if I keep forgetting what it smells like and must immediately have another amazing whiff. I know this is a "man's" perfume, but it's lovely on me. I imagine on the right guy it would be A-MAZING. Soft, intriguing, sexy, but clean. I'm normally an amber, musk, spicy, resin, rich, warm, sweet smell type of girl, but I just can't say how much I love this! So much, I had to get up and review it. All I need now is a man to try it on. (and a full bottle)
