This one was mostly anise and musk on me and maybe some myrrh. Myrrh is powdery on me so that happened here. The anise was pretty but mixed with the musk it was just ok. Not too dynamic and I wanted more from it. It was mostly all anise and musk. It had low throw but stayed close to the skin for a while. I never really got smoky woods at all. Strange.

I tested this a while ago but I do remember it was very light and had little to no throw. But what I wrote as my notes was that it was mostly saffron and cherry but so light it was heartbreaking. I was very excited to try this scent but sadly it did nothing for me. Weird how light it was. I can't even elaborate more on my review because there wasn't much happening at all.

This scent was a lovely light coconut and musk scent. It had barely any throw on me and didn't last long, but while it was there is was just a nice perfume type scent. I do wish the coconut was foodier and sweeter. I actually wanted the whole scent to be foodier. But it's not, it's light coconut, soft natural sugar, and some musk.

A chilly, bright perfume: flurries of virgin snow, crisp winter wind and the faintest breath of night-blooming flowers. 2011 Oh Snow White! I wanted us to get along because I love Snow White and you are very popular! But alas it wasn't love. I do like it but here's what happen... In the bottle: a pretty soft sweet snow scent On the skin: It starts out sweet and pretty and soft but then the flower note comes in and kinda ruins it. I'm not a big floral fan. There's only a couple florals that work for me and this one isn't. It's powdery and and too green or maybe ozoney. But underneath and close to my skin is a sweet soft scent that I like. Drydown: The flowers calm down and then the scent kinda disapears on me. I'm so sad. I do think I would give this scent another try though. Maybe different years have different outcomes. So even though it didn't really work it wasn't a bad scent just not the sweet snowy coconut scent everyone raves about! That's what I wanted!!

This was mainly a powdery perfumey pink scent. I did get some of the strawberry but I think the cognac gave it a strange non sweet note and overpowered it. Something was very powdery on me though and that took away from the loveliness. Maybe the tea rose was powdery. Really not sure. The scent is nice though but not sweet or unique enough for me. Had good throw and lasted a good while though.

Capax Infiniti and Beaver Moon 2011 were two lovely lavender scents for sleeping...

Rose Recommendations - which blend is for me?
vanilla323 replied to Nadirah's topic in Recommendations
What about rose water... I really love the note of it in Venus Libitina. It's a sweet watery but lovely rose. -
I've mentioned in other reviews that the hay note BPAL uses really bugs my nose and takes over some scents and sadly that's what happen here. But let me share my other thoughts too... In the bottle: carrot cake with hay Wet: hay over light carrot cake (which that note would amp more and not the hay). I also get a little bit of hazelnut too. But its fleeting. Drydown: Now the berries come out but they are more herbal berries and not sweet. The carrot cake note is totally gone and that pesky hay note is still there and won't go away. Darn!

2011 In the bottle: musky caramel Wet: caramel is strongest note but there is also some powdery amber and spices coming out now too Drydown: this scent is strong and has a lot things going on. Every time I sniff my arm or get a whiff of the throw I get different notes. I really like that about this scent, but what is hurting it for me is the amber is very powdery and kinda takes over after a while. Amber does this on me sometimes. It's definitely a sexy scent and very mysterious. It's not "foodie" even though the caramel is there so I feel like it'll work for a lot of different tastes. Had great throw and good staying power too.

The Antikythera Mechanism

This scent is a sexy, oaky, vanilla and tobacco scent. It's not masculine per say but I want to smell it on my man not myself. Not sure why. Maybe because it's not a foodie scent at all and that's my thing. But it is a gorgeous scent none the less. The vanilla is lovely here mixed with the oak. Maybe because it's a black vanilla that's what makes me think of a man. Who knows. Great scent though and everyone needs to try this one at some point. Had good throw and staying power too for a GC scent. -
Ok so I love all things EGGS! Not sure why it's a fascination I've had my whole life. I love the shape of eggs, the look, the color, I'm weird I know. So when I saw Egg Moon I hoped it would be love. But sadly this little egg scent got over run by spices and powder. This was a very light cinnamon, cassia, and powder over a even lighter egg cream type note. I wish it was much more eggy and creamy but it was mostly spice and powder which took over. But it's not strong it's a very light scent. It had medium throw (mostly powder and cassia) at the start but didn't last very long. It was a light spicy scent. No egg.

This is a simple review. In the bottle: light vanilla ice cream (sweet vanilla) Wet: perfect vanilla ice cream but so light I can barely smell it, added a bit more...still not much scent though. I can smell the vanilla ice cream but I have to have my nose practically on my skin. Drydown: No throw and super short wear time. Not sure what happen here. But I wish this was stronger! It could be a HG scent for me if it was because vanilla ice cream scents are amazing and I love them, but this one is a sad melted vanilla ice cream cone on the ground. Maybe my bottle was off? Maybe I should track down a fresh imp some day...maybe the result would be better.

In the bottle: not much maybe a light cherry Wet: there is stronger sweet cherry and strawberry but not much cheesecake Drydown: on the drydown is when the cheesecake note comes out but it's more cakey not cheesey. This is delicous don't get me wrong but what broke my heart was the lack of throw and very short wear time. Shortest of all my other Beaver Moon scents.

This snake was mostly Snake Oil with a hint of myrrh and almond on top. But for some reason it wasn't very sweet or foodie on me like I thought it might be. Maybe the red mandarin was there, and was what made this kinda sharp and lackluster on me. Not sure. I feel like the Snake Oil scents were all kinda light and didn't last long, and that the aging made them not love my skin so much. I tested this back in 2012 I believe. But this too wasn't much of anything just Snake Oil with a hint of myrrh and nut. Passsssssed this snake on...

This snake was a powdery little mess. I did smell delicious aged Snake Oil in the bottle but on the skin the other notes were making it powdery and a little too perfumey. I'm thinking it was the frankincense and incense maybe that did that. Although I'm not sure if it was the opoponax, labdanum, and hyssop. To be honest I'm not as familiar with these notes so they could be the culprits too. This was pretty underwelming for me. But the Snake Oil was the best part. The staying power wasn't very good either. Passed this little snake on...

This scent was just as described cinnamon, cassia, and ginger until the Snake Oil...I didn't get any in it. Or it must've been over shadowed by these stronger notes. The strongest being the ginger which was a bit too much really. I hoped the Snake Oil would foodie it up and add some vanilla but no. If you love the other three notes and especially ginger then get this little snakey. But for me it was too much heat and not enough sweet.

2008 In the bottle: delicious orange custard (very excited) Wet: the anise seed comes out stronger when on the skin and it's the black licorice variety. I love it mixed with the orange and custard, this is delicious for about ten minutes but then.... Drydown: sadly it all goes to crap when the funeral flowers come out! They are strong heady and over bearing. They take over all the foodie goodness and what is left is dead flowers. This was such a heartbreaker, and one of the biggest morphing scents for me. I love the initial stages if you could just take out the flowers!! The throw was strong and lasted a while! But sadly the flowers made me let this one go...

This scent was mostly tobacco and orange blossom honey on me. It was almost bitter in quality on my skin. Not sure why. I never really got any brown sugar or tonka. But I did get whiffs of saffron in the throw. It actually does make me think this could be what a cute little Pussy Moth would smell like.

This is my favorite beeswax scent so far. It smells like actual beeswax with a touch of nutmeg and sandalwood. The throw wasn't very big and the staying power weak (which is why I eventually sold it). But it is a wonderful scent if you love the scent of beeswax. Which to me a very very light earthy sweet honey scent with no powder. And that is what I get here.

In the bottle: I get what smells like white chocolate and maybe some rose Wet: The chocolate is there and so is the rose first. Then I get pomegranate and nutmeg coming out. It's a nice mix but maybe there's too much going on for me because now they are starting to blend together and I'm not sure what I think of the mix. Drydown: When it dries down I think I get the myrrh because it gets a little perfumey and not sure what's doing that. I think the white chocolate I smelled earlier was from the bourbon vanilla mixing with the chocolate note. This had good staying power though and a powdery throw.

This one was mainly strawberry and orange blossom. It was on the sweeter side though. That was probably from the pink candies. It had low throw and didn't last very long. It is a lovely feminine scent though. Something for a first date maybe. I never got any vanilla. It also became a little powdery after it was on my skin a while.

This was mostly coffee and a light woodsy oak scent on me. This coffee wasn't sweet it was more the freshly roasted kind with nothing added. I was hoping the mallow would be like marshmallow but sadly no. This would probably be nice on my hubby. It had decent staying power and low throw though. Stayed close to the skin.

2007 This was just a basic gingerbread scent on me. Nothing special. I expected the greatest gingerbread ever but it sadly wasn't. Maybe it was the age of the bottle but it was very light on my skin too. Also it had no throw and not much staying power. Very sad. But if this came back now I would probably give it another try. Such a cute name.

In the bottle: chocolate covered cherries Wet: the cardamom really come out hard like a grounchy groundhog and take over a little bit. It's fighting with the cherry a little which is kind of weird. The vanilla never comes out at all. Drydown: The chocolate disapears pretty fast but the cardamom and cherry remain. It's a cool scent but not a total love. Cute label and good throw and wear time (maybe 3-4 hours). P.S. never got any caramel...weird

This was a very light apple, guava, and carnation scent on me. It was just those three notes mingled together. I didn't like this apple note either. Apple is very hit or miss on my skin. And the vanilla cream never showed up which was the note I was looking forward to most! Too bad. Such a lovely dedication to the forum members and it's birthday. But sadly this wasn't a good one on me. Also had super short wear time.
