Sweet Potato Musk
vanilla323 replied to Ina Garten Davita's topic in Gifts with Donation or Purchase
Got a decant from a lovely forumite. This was over all just a light single note sweet potato scent. Now don't get me wrong it was delicious and smelled like the real thing but it was light on my skin and had light throw. I didn't get any pumpkin seeds or any of the other notes. Just a warm light sweet potato mash scent. So glad I got to try it though. What fun. -
Got a decant of this from a lovely forumite. To me it is all a sweetened leather. I don't get much else but it is lovely and sophisticated. Different then any other HG I tried. It has light throw though...wish it was stronger. But overall it's a sexy sweet leather.

This is a HG scent for me! I love it so much and it's my favorite pumpkin scent! In the bottle you smell the delicious cheesecake...it's so realistic. When I dab it on my skin the pumpkin comes out more and it's the bulk of the throw but this isn't just pumpkin it's a sweet delicious perfect foodie pumpkin scent. It has a pumpkin pie feel but not too much cinnamon. The carrot and crust notes are there as well but they are lighter. I love the cheesecake note though SO MUCH. Yes it makes me want cheesecake but that's ok. The staying power is great it has lighter throw but stays close to the skin for a LONG time. Also it has the cutest label ever. I knew when I saw the label I would have to have it in my collection. I've been looking for a bottle forever so glad to finally have one! But still want more!!

Got a decant from a lovely forum member. When I first put it on it's all patchouli all the time! I like this patchouli though it's in the yummy realm for me. I didn't get much hazelnut but some of the vanilla does come out in the dry down. I wish there was more vanilla and hazelnut but this is definitely patchouli heavy! I like it though. Decent throw and staying power too.

I love all the foodie notes in this scent but don't like the floral notes. Jasmine and me do not get along really. But the yam cake and flan are heaven. I want a foodie flan scent one day from BPAL please. Passed this on to someone who likes floral scents with sweet added in. It had pretty good throw and staying power though. Which was nice.

This is delicious! In the bottle I smell patchouli mostly. But when I dab it on my skin the wetness is all gingerbread and coconut. YUM! Then when it dries down I definitely get Goblin with delicious gingerbread. I love Goblin very much but the staying power is eh. But this scent has much better staying power and just smells better the longer it's on my skin. It doesn't have much throw and stays close to the skin but that is ok, it's just for me and doesn't bother anyone. I love all the notes in this one. It's a total WIN! Oh and the label is so cute too.

This scent wet is beautiful...it's honeysuckle sweet and heavy gardenia scented. But as it dries down the powder takes over!! I'm guessing its the amber turning and maybe diamond accord. I don't know what diamond accord smells like but powder is what I get. The honeysuckle is lovely but fades away and so does the gardenia after about 20 minutes. It's not a bad scent just more powdery then I thought it would be. I also never get any patchouli maybe with age it will come out. Love the Luper labels though they are so playful and sexy.

I Fell in Love with a Floating Brain

When I put this on I got all sweet and tangy grapefruit and not much else. In the dry down I was hoping to get the cake instead I got mostly the carnation and strawberry. The carnation was very spicy! After a while that's all that stuck around too. This is a yummy fun scent but didn't blow me away. So glad I got to try it though and it was a frimp from a wonderful forumite! -
In the bottle: sweet strawberry Wet: white chocolate and strawberry and it is delicious! I want to eat it off my arm. Drydown: The strawberry sticks around and the chocolate fades away SO fast. Most chocolate scents do this to me sadly. This was foodie heaven while it lasted and so yummy! But sadly it was only around like 20-30 minutes tops. The poof...gone.

Sadly this was mostly black licorice and cough syrup on me. I didn't get much cinnamon which is odd because usually it's strong on my skin. Maybe the licorice and cherry are just too much here. I don't really like this one. It's just not pleasant and kind of stinky to me. Medicinal. Again I think I love the idea (and eating) of black licorice but shouldn't wear it. It doesn't work well with cherry either. Maybe a hit of vanilla would of helped balance it out not cinnamon.

In the bottle: pineapple Wet: the pineapple and rum are the strongest notes and I smell a bit of coconut too. Yummy and fruity. Drydown: the rum comes out stronger now and the pineapple still stays in the front and present as well. Oddly I never really get vanilla but it would be awesome if I did. That would add more creaminess to this overall fruity drink. This is a sweet fun fruity scent. It has good throw and lasted about 2 hours.

In the bottle: light black licorice Wet: black licorice with some powdery amber. Also the clove and ginger are starting come out too. Drydown: This is still mostly black licorice on the drydown and ginger. It's a little stingy like a bee but the sting is all black licorice. The throw was good and it lasted about 3 hours.

This scent is so amazing in it's realistic vibe. When I first put it on I get the sweet hot chocolate scent with a tiny dash of marshmallow. I love this stage so much! It's the perfect cup of hot cocoa. BUT on the dry down out comes the glue and felt and I don't know how they do it but it really smells like glue and felt. While it is very cool I do not want to smell like it. So this scent was more of an experience then something I want to smell like daily. The hot chocolate part is so good though. It had very low throw and only lasted about an hour. And sadly the drydown is all glue.

This scent was mostly a sweet pea scent on me. It was a delicate sweet floral with a touch of sweetness probably from the vanilla and candyfloss. It's not foodie at all though and just a sweet pretty girlie scent. It had ok throw but did stay close to the skin for a while. The label is adorable too, I love Rosy Maple moths and I think that's the main reason I got this scent.

Left His Nurse While In a Crowd

This was mostly berry, chocolate, and cake on me. With some tea notes mingled in too. I thought it would be the ultimate foodie scent. While it is super foodie it is weak. Meaning low throw and didn't last long at all. So sad. In bottle: lemon, light chocolate, maybe cake Wet: more berries and lemon with light chocolate and a soft cake note. Drydown: soft white cake, lemon, and barely any chocolate or berries anymore. Maybe a dash of tea and cream. As I said before it was gone under a half hour though sadly. -
This was mostly a black licorice single note on me. I barely got any chocolate. When wet it was all black licorice but on the dry down there was just a hint of a sweet chocolate note maybe. It was the perfect scent if you want black licorice all day long. It had good staying power and good throw. Overall I love to eat black licorice but not sure if I want to smell like it though.

A fuzzy brown honey-dusted musk covering freshly-washed baby skin and a howl of milk breath. In the background, there's the barest hint of upturned soil and dew-covered squished stems from a trampled flowerbed. This actually was a cute little furry milky scent. I thought of a little puppy when I smelled it. How does Beth do that. It was very soft though and I didn't get much of the musk which was ok. This was very light though and lasted about an hour. Makes me wish my pups never grew up and stayed puppies forever.

This is a very light and lovely gardenia and honey scent. I love Gardenias and when it comes to florals they are one of the few I will try. The honey note is also light and lovely here not too powdery. The sad part of this scent is it has very low throw and only lasted about a half hour. I was so sad. It is a wonderful pretty scent while it lasts though. Simple and beautiful.

This was mostly white chocolate with too many florals and some soapy notes. It's the first 13 I ever got and I just feel at the end of the day there is too much going on. The white chocolate note was nice but the florals and soapiness were making this not work for me. Glad I got to try a 13 though. That was fun! It had good throw and lasted maybe an hour on me.

In the bottle: sassafrass (to me that means root beer) Wet: this smells like root beer mixed with incense which must be the champaca. Which is pretty cool and masculine. The tonka is there and must be what's adding more sweetness and making it smell so much like root beer. Drydown: I never get any tea here it must be drowned in sassafras. But that is what the dry down is. Almost a sassafras single note on my skin. This has pretty good throw and lasted about 2 hours.

Sadly this scent was all hay and corn on me! BPALs' hay note is very strong and I amp it. I couldn't smell any of the other notes really. It was not good on me unfortunately. It did last a while on me and maybe after it faded/dried down there was a light milky note mixed with the hay and corn. Sorry little cicada we do not get along.

This was a strange scent. It wasn't really foodie at all. I didn't get much of the cream it was mainly a sour milk scent on me. Like spoiled milk almost. I think it was the ginger and clove mixing weirdly with with the cream. This was just odd. Maybe it was pine. It's not listed in the notes but it comes out in the scent too. This was weird. Low throw and lasted maybe 2 hours though.

This scent was mostly powder on me. It wasn't baby powder but just powder. I think the orris and and rose are making it too powdery. I actually wouldn't have minded a baby powder scent. That sweet happy baby scent but this wasn't that. I was actually hoping for more of the honeyed milk too and I never really get that either. So sad. It had ok throw but didn't last very long. Maybe an hour.

I wasn't sure this scent would be a winner for me but I love Jareth so I had to try it. Love that he is on the label too! In the bottle: didn't smell much sadly maybe a little tonka and tea Wet: the leather came out more but it was a soft light leather. Reminded me more of suede. The fougere is there and it is lovely. It comes off and a light tea scent. The oudh and musk is there too... Drydown: sadly this is when the musk and oudh mess things up for me. They get kinda powdery and take away any sweetness that there was earlier in the scent. It's all very light though too. I thought this scent would be much stronger and masculine. I actually really wanted it to be. But it's light, leathery, and powdery. It's nice but not a total win. Sorry Jareth we cannot stay together lol

In the bottle: yummy currants Wet: The rose comes out a little and adds a powderiness to the currant tarts. But it is all about the currant note. I really love it! It sweet juicy and tart and just foodie enough for me to make it a love. It helps make the roses not take over. Drydown: The rose still hovers above as a powdery rose scent. I definitely see red roses here. And the currant tarts stays sweet and closer to my skin. I really love this scent. It has great staying power and really makes me think of the Knave of Hearts. It's perfect.
