Ok...I want to try something different with this theme. I wanted to see if I could match a fitting scent to each song on an album as I listened to it. Here are my results... Tori Amos's From the Choirgirl Hotel Spark - Undertow (to me, the song speaks of drowning...and though I don't really like Undertow, it seems like the best fit), or possibly Bayou Cruel - Hell's Belle (speaks of someone feminine but manipulative...seductive and dangerous), or Lampades Black Dove - Nuit or Ode on Meloncholy Raspberry Swirl - MiGo Brain Cannister or Tweedledee or Titania (fruity and giddy...close to a frenzy) Jackie's Strength - (I don't really like this song so I don't have a scent for it) iiee - Jazz Funeral or Tezcatlipoca (a dark earthiness along with a feeling of floating in dark water) Liquid Diamonds - City in the Sea (slow, dark, deep, but lovely) She's Your Cocaine - Depraved or Lust (this song is pure deparvity and lust to me, so both scents would work) Northern Lad - hmmm...not quite sure Hotel - Stardust or Numb Pandora's Aquarium - Ophelia (innocence and sadness, and very water-y)

I believe this is the avatar that was mentioned above! It was made by Jewelbug's hubby and is on her icon page. And I agree that Fae is a very Labyrinth-y scent, I think it evokes Sarah's innocence before she enters the labyrinth. I'm wondering what would be a good scent for Sarah after her experience in the Labyrinth...something a little less innocent but still very sweet and dreamy. And Jareth=Dorian!!!! Or Stardust :-)

Its gingerbread cookies, hot and fresh and dripping with gooey sweet sugar glaze with candied cherries for buttons. Its all I can do not to stuff the whole imp in my mouth like cookie monster!!! It has pretty decent staying power as well, so I can bask in the yumminess for a good long time.

Citrus, mint and tea!! I find that F5 is very very similar to Embalming Fluid...which is good because I had been meaning to get a 5ml of EF and now I have this lovely cool soothing tea minty citrus goodness! Though it is very refreshing, it's refreshing in a soft, soothing, calming way, not an in-your-face sort of way. It seems to fade pretty quickly on me, which is a shame...I'll have to try it in the room diffuser.

I love the whole sensory mishmash that occasionally happens when a scent reminds you of a song or a song reminds you of a scent. I remember a thread that delved into this a long time ago but I couldn't find it for the life of me (it may be in the graveyard by now), so I figured I would start a new one and hope for the best. Here are a few song/BPAL corrospondances that have stuck in my mind...please share any that you might have! Sea of Glass reminds me of Bjork's "All is Full of Love" Blood reminds me of Bjork's "Hunter" Samhain reminds me of Nico's "Fairest of the Seasons" Neo-Tokyo reminds me of The Jesus and Mary Chain's "Just like Honey" (probably because of the association with the movie Lost in Translation). O also makes me think of this song, because of the honey note. Snow White reminds me of The Cocteau Twins' "Alice" (probably because that song makes me think of falling snow). Massive Attack's "Teardrop" makes me think of light aquatics, like Sea of Glass and aquatic florals like Ophelia

To paraphrase the Stones: Brown Sugar, why do smell sooooooo gooooood? Its very brown sugar in the overtones and then the spices kick in and its heaven in a bottle. I made some gingerbread recently and was amazed at how perfectly this oil captures the scent of baking cookies. I have a plug-in scentball oil diffuser (better than a burner because you can leave it on unsupervised!) and a few drops of this, and I've got baking cookies whenever I want them! I wouldnt' mind wearing this once in a while too, its very comforting.

This was such a disapointment because I had such high hopes for it (I love the foody scents). On my first try it was all butter, which is not my friend. I dont' know why, but butter goes all ick on me. On a later try, it wasn't as bad, almost reminiscant of Devil's Night, but heavier. In the end though, its still a kind of "sick to my stomach from eating too much" scent that I'm just not fond of. Where's the chocolate and vanilla i love so much? Sob!

2005 blend! I must be a freak or something because I dont' get coconut or vanilla or flowers like most people have described. To me, Snow White is clean, green juniper and pine with soft, powdery snow (similar to the powdery note that I love in Black Opal). Its very light and soft but it clings for a long time and it doesn't morph at all, it just stays green and powdery. I love it, but I don't see how people would find this floral or foody, its pure green on me.

High John the Conquerer! Well, he did conquer all of our hearts and minds and showed us something really beautiful and special, so I think it works. If I had London, I might wear that too... I wish there were Beatles BPALs. Like Helter Skelter which would assault you from all angles with a variety of notes and a hint of blood. Or a sweet, jaunty Lovely Rita. Or a golden, amber-y Here Comes the Sun. Or something silly, like Blue Meanies (which I think would have an apple note because of those wierd blue apples they used to kill people with in the movie)!

Woah! When I first put it on it the swirl of notes nearly knocked me over. It was like a swirling rush of leaves, smoke, spice, sugar, and booze...a fall tornado! Then it calms down and becomes warm spiced cookies served with spiked hot cider. I'm going to have to apply it again just to experience that crazy scent rush...or even better, use it as a room scent!

Wow! This scent makes me fantasize about being backstage at a Bowie concert back in his Ziggy days, watching him get his make up put on and chain smoking. And then maybe guzzling champagne and dancing like a maniac with him at the after show party. It makes me feel giddy! In the bottle: CLFilm hit it on the head...Aquanet and smoke. But in a good way! On skin: Mmmmm...it starts almost powdery and floral (white musk and tuberose?) and then gets a burst of something almost spicy and fruity in the background (champagne and tobacco?). It clings beautifully and I can't stop sniffing it! It is SO a going out and looking fabulous kind of scent.

Wow, my first review! I was unsure when I first sniffed the bottle and even when it hit my skin, but after a little while, I'm transported into a dark forest where I'm lost and a little confused on a cold, clear night. I smell dark herbs and musk and wood and something that might be wolves on the hunt in the distance. I can see my breath in the moonlight and sense a deep red that my eyes don't know is there. There is something dark and powerful in the air, it hangs heavy and tangible and i know that somewhere, blood is being spilled. Ok, that wasn't much of a review, but I'm in an imagery sort of mood and this oil definately evokes some powerful pictures in my mind.
