Lush to BPAL scent comparisons (BNever included too)
littleflight replied to Vanilla's topic in Recommendations
I realized tonight when dabbing on some Fog Machine Juice SN that (to my nose, anyway), its remarkably similar to Lily Savon! -
This has become a new holy grail for me. I love love love chocolate notes, and this doesn't disappoint. It's rich and creamy milk chocolate, but with something extra that I'm still trying to put my finger on. Something sweet, almost green - like this chocolate bunny has been frolicking through Easter flowers. I don't get the metallic note that others seem to be getting, just a lovely, sweet, flowery chocolate. It's very complex for being a single note.

I don't really get caramel or apple with this, to me it's straight up cough syrup. Happy I got a decant to try out before hunting down a bottle unsniffed, lucky for my wallet that I won't be adding this to my collection.

Sadly, this smells funky when I use it in my hair, so I've been using as a dry oil body spray and it is pretty perfect. So chocolately and rich, with just a touch of cinnamon and a hint of coffee. And it makes my skin feel super soft....chocolate and soft skin, what's not to love?

This is springtime in a bottle. It's a light and fresh floral that has something "green" about it...like this vanilla orchid was just snapped at it's stem and the chlorophyll is wafting through the air. It brings back childhood memories of going to the Philadelphia Flower Show with my grandmother and swooning over the rare flowers that were being presented. It's just lovely!

I just don't know about this one. I'm a full on foodie/chocolate/sweet things all around lady, and I had such high hopes that this would become my new holy grail. I'm so sad it didn't deliver, especially because I just ADORE all of the other chocolate scents from the lab. In the bottle it's chocolately, but theres something behind that chocolate that keeps it from being CHOCOLATE. No cream or sweetness to my nose. On my skin, it turns to burnt plastic. Maybe burnt plastic that has melted over a piece of fudge, but still, burnt plastic. I'll be passing this one on to someone who will appreciate it. I've got Bliss and Sue's Great Old Puppet Show to satisfy my chocolate desires.

An Exercise for Healthier Living Atmosphere Spray
littleflight replied to Amoraexcena's topic in Atmosphere
I wish I could take a bath in my bottle of this stuff (mmmmm, bath oil? please??) 3 sprays of this in my living room and I am floating on a rich vanilla cloud. The tonka and vanilla are at the forefront of this, and the ylang ylang and smokiness of the vanilla keep it from going full on foodie. It's deep and sexy and sinful. And the label art spectacular. I need to get another bottle or two before the luppers come down! -
In the bottle I get the heavy tobacco/shisha scent with just a touch of coffee. After dabbing a bit on my wrists, this morphed completely. The tobacco fades into the background and the rich dark coffee comes forward. After the dry down, the tobacco is gone completely and I am left with a heavenly spiced coffee scent...like taking dark roasted coffee beans and mixing them with the most fragrant Moroccan spices.... This is a keeper, and has some serious staying power!

In the bottle this is straight up almond extract - gorgeous! on my skin however, it turns to plastic cinnamon with no trace of almond to be found - not so gorgeous! I had high hopes, but it's off to the swap pile with this one.

Wow, is this some beautiful stuff! Sprayed twice on my dry hair this morning and I keep catching whiffs of myself when I turn my head. This is gorgeous creamy vanilla and sweet dry rice powder. The musk is just ever so slightly peeking through, and I don't get any of the iris root (which is fine by me, this stuff is gorgeous without it). It definitely has some staying power - I've tried 5 or 6 other hair glosses and the scents all faded to nothing after an hour or so - this has been going strong for a good 8 hours now.....and by strong I mean the gorgeous scent is still there, by no means is this cloying or overpowering. I may need another bottle!

Chocolate, chocolate, CHOCOLATE! This is (to my nose) the same chocolate note in my beloved Sue's Great Old Puppet Show. I don't get any of the caramel or tonka, just chocolate, delicious and rich chocolate. No morphing with this one, it smells the same and just as delicious on my skin as it does in the bottle.

This was too weird of a scent combo not to try. I only got a decant, but I really think I'm gonna need an entire bottle of this! Straight from the decant bottle I got fresh bright raspberries and nothing else (which is lovely enough on it's own). On my wrists for the first few minutes I get the fresh bright raspberries, but on the dry down the patchouli comes out with just the slightest tinge of orange blossom. I don't get any musk, which is a-ok with me - the sweetness of the raspberries and the earthiness of the patchouli are balancing each other so beautifully! This is a lot more complex and "grown up" than what I was expecting, and I love it!!

I bought a couple of bottles from a lovely forumite, and she was kind enough to throw a tiny bottle containing a few drops of Dorian into my package. OH. MY. GAWD. THIS STUFF. Now I see what all the fuss is about. This is quite possibly the most beautiful thing I have ever smelled. At first whiff I a strong tea with just a tiny bit of lemon, which is just lovely on its own, but after dabbing a drop onto my wrists, it morphs. The tea is there, but the lemon fades away, and out comes this gorgeous powdery vanilla with just a touch of the softest musk. I usually tend to dislike anything "musky" and/or "powdery", but this is just so perfect and scrumptious and wonderful that I just cannot stop sniffing my wrists. I NEED MORE DORIAN!!

THIS STUFF!! I forgot how much I love this stuff. I thought I had a bottle of Morocco in my hand this morning but it was Sue, and I slathered it before I realized....I'm so happy I did! Upon application it's all cocoa, just like the powdered stuff. But on the dry down, something magical happens on my skin - a certain woodiness pokes through (maybe that's the glue?) along with a teensie bit of something floral. I don't know where these notes are coming from, but I love them. There's a really complex richness to this stuff, far beyond just googly eyes and felt and glue. I definitely need another bottle!!

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume
littleflight replied to Ina Garten Davita's topic in Recommendations
Single Note Ambergris is close, not that it is easy to find but I have seen it for sale here and Facebook sales. Y'Ha Nthlei has extra notes but I like it and find it a kissing cousin to SN Ambergris... HTH I literally JUST bought a bottle of Ambergris over the weekend from someone here on the forum - I'm really looking forward to trying it out. I'm definitely going to have to get my hands on some Y'Ha Nthlei too, thank you for the suggestions! -

have you tried it in a locket? That's the only way I can wear some citrus and tea oils, because otherwise they vaporize in 15 minutes. That's a great idea, but I hate hate hate wearing necklaces! Perhaps they make scent locket bracelets or rings?? I'll have to look into that.... -
Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

Forgive me if this has already been mentioned, but does anyone know of an oil that is similar to Juliette Has A Gun's not a Perfume? I recently got a sample of this stuff and it's absolutely gorgeous, but my skin just eats the stuff and only lasts but a few minutes. I can't justify the hefty $100+ price tag if I have to slather myself in it (I'd rather wear Bpal anyway!) It is a single note perfume that is apparently just cetalox and nothing else. I've contemplated buying come cetalox and dissolving it in some everclear on the stove to make my own dupe, but I am very clumsy and definitely not a chemist, and don't want to risk burning the house down! -
From the bottle, I definitely get the apple other reviewers have mentioned, along with something "electric" green (that's the only way I can describe it - it's definitely not grassy or mossy, but it made me say WHOA!!). I can smell a tinge of saltiness in the background, but only after really trying to pick it out. Upon application, it hit me in the face with juniper berry and cannabis blossom, and the apple sort of faded into the background. About 15 minutes later the tobacco took center stage, along with something citrus....like a grapefruit rolled in fresh soil....very earthy and inviting. About an hour later I got hit with the juniper berry, but a very beachy juniper berry (like one that's been playing in the ocean and building sandcastles in the sun all day), and that electric green again. That's about when it stopped morphing, and soon after all but disappeared from my skin. It was full throttle for a while, and then the squid slammed on the beautiful beach- berry- green breaks. This scent is amazing, I just really wish it had some staying power! I think I'll need to hunt down another bottle of this, since it's definitely going to be one I have to slather.

Best BPALs for SUMMER - is it hot, sweltering, sticky outside?
littleflight replied to Donnababe's topic in Recommendations
Hi friends! I'm kinda new around here (as in, I really don't post much!), but I was wondering what some of your favorite summertime scents are from the lab? I feel like most of my collection is very foody and autumn like, with nothing really that says "it's hot outside and this will smell good.", ya know?
