    Manila

this smells like tropical skittles! at first, it is very sweet. after a while I can start to smell pineapple, ocean and green... maybe palms? not really me but I'll keep it because it smells so pretty.

    Libertine

while wet: a very watery aquatic scent. it reminds me a LOT of Water of Notre Dame. I smell roses, something citrussy, and sandalwood. and there is chamomile. I don't smell any violet and usually violet stands out right away on me because I hate it so much. This does make me think of the Victorian times. I'm actually unsure of whether I want to keep this or not. the staying power is moderate to strong.

    Port-Au-Prince

I smell cherries first off. then cinnamon, maybe cloves or allspice. and fruit tea? it fades very fast. the cherry smell goes away and I am left with the fruit tea- spicy smell. it smells like apple cinnamon tea. not bad. if it had more staying power I would keep it.

    Brisingamen

This rather disappointed me. Like all blends with any kind of amber in it, it disappears as soon as it touches my skin. ack. I really want to love amber too.

    Bayou

THIS IS AMAZING! It is rich dark peach with lemon and jasmine. I don't think I quite smell the green in this. I couldn't quite understand at first how this could smell like a bayou but OH LORD. This is going to be one of my top 10's I just know it. it is just so sweet and very very dark, and rich and warm and enveloping. I LOVE THIS!

    Kostnice

this turned to all lemon on me. A shame, since I have been searching for the perfect incense smell that doesn't go acidy on me.

    High John the Conqueror

this is an all around feel-good scent. I agree that it doesn't have any sharp edges at all. it is very comforting and calming and assuring. It's like having a loving guardian nudging you forward gently to the stage. I too thought of grapes when I first smelled this. more candy-like to me. I love this.

    Block Buster

on skin: apple cinnamon. smells just like heavily spiced mulled cider. it so lovely, warm and comforting! this is definitely going to be a big bottle. even moreso if it works well. I'm not sure how it will effect my night.. but I'll update about that later.

    EPIC BPAL Spreadsheet Thread

I'm working on an AppleWorks database of scents. It's mainly intended to keep track of which scents I've tried and what I thought of them, so it doesn't do all the clever swap/buy/sell tracking that the Excel file does, but if anyone is interested in a copy drop me a PM! you can get excel for macs, you know. i'm using nattie's spreadsheet right now, and it works just fine excel/office for macs is pretty cheap, or you can just grab a trial version, and then port the file over to something mac-usable really??? oh my god! *off to download*

    Envy

this is so yummy. of course, the top note is peppermint. as Envy is on the skin, beautiful sparkling herbs come out. the herb smell is hard to describe. it makes me think of lilies or lily of the valley. such a green spring smell. and yes, fresh cut grass. it makes me think of those crayola scented crayons, i think it was like, sky blue... and it smelled just like this. so fresh, summery, sweet green-ness. I love this. I usually never love herb-y green florals. but god. definitely coveting.

    Red Devil

SHARP orange, sharp jasmine. yeck, even though it is sweet, it has this undertone that is just bitter. It also turned to complete soap on my skin after a few minutes. pure floral orange soap. I smelled no cinnamon

    Holiday Moon

This is an awesome scent. I'm usually horrible with tea notes (because they smell like lemon on me and lemon and I don't smell good together. at least not to me) it is so sweet, and god, there is something in there that makes my mouth water. It is floral! I can't figure out what it smells like! oh (duh) maybe its the bamboo? I'm so glad I like this. I got it on a whim full knowing that it contained notes that I never agree with.

    Siren

I cringed when I got the first whiff of this. there's just something...foul smelling about it. its too peppery. ack the ginger is soo strong. then there is something lemony behind it. Now the jasmine is coming out. all the notes that never work for me. raw ginger, lemon, jasmine.

    Lilith

very deeply fruity. like dark red fruit in the sun. very seductive and warm. I can definitely smell red wine. It is a bit too overpowering after a couple of minutes. but there's almost a citronella smell to it as well? maybe that is why it reminds me of summer. not a winner for me.

    Red Phoenix

I can't really smell patchouli in this. I hated the way it smelled in the bottle. definitely a scent you can't just sniff, you have to put it on, just like Three Witches. this is what I wish Blood Moon would smell like. I love Red Phoenix. It is powerful, spicy, exotic. Cinnamon but not overpoweringly dry like Blood Moon was, even though it reminds me a lot of Blood Moon. sweetened just enough, and amped up with other spices and florals. and perfect 'natural' skin scent. very sexy! ADDED Jan. 17: I was really disappointed with Red Phoenix. It did just what Blood Moon did with me. a heaping tablespoon of dry bitter cinnamon in your mouth. this is better than Blood Moon in the sense that I can smell floral and sweeter notes that balance out the bitterness. but still. off to the swap pile.

    Water of Notre Dame

I haven't really gotten to analyze the actual scent of this, and I'll try it out again and update this. but I so wanted to share my experience with this oil. in its description, it says it attracts beneficiary spirits right? Today I went to take my last final. I seriously haven't slept in two days because I've been studying so much and have been so stressed. I took my final and did pretty well and I was feeling pretty good and couldn't wait to get home and start catching up on my z's. My brother is off from school, and he said he would be home alone all day, so I didn't bring my keys, or my phone or my wallet, and I didn't even bother to put socks on before I slipped into my sneakers. I know, stupid me, but all I was thinking about was this final. And after the final, the semester would be over. So I get home and my brother isn't home. I am locked out of the house and it is around 10 or 15 degrees out. can't open any windows, as they are all locked. so I go to the neighbor's house to use the phone and she isn't there. I walk all around the entire neighborhood to try and find someone home, and no one is home. and because I didn't have socks on, my feet were beginning to get really cold. After about two hours, my feet were completely numb with no pain or anything. I couldn't feel them and I started to panic. I started crying because I was so scared I had frostbite and it was the middle of the day and my parents wouldn't be home until much much later. and I was so cold. after about 15 minutes of instinctually checking all the windows and even trying to pry the storm door off its hinges, I gave up and I sat down on the steps and began to pray. to no one in particular, to just let some neighbor come home so I could warm up in their house at least. I checked the mail and I had gotten a package, a swap from another forum member. at that point I didn't care about anything but getting my feet warm, because I could hardly walk. but I opened it out of boredom and took out Water of Notre Dame, and for some reason, without even thinking, I put it on under my chin and smelled it. literally two seconds after I put it on, I heard my neighbor's car door slam closed. she let me in, made me tea, gave me fleece socks and let me sit next to her heater. I was amazed. I definitely learned my lesson. and I will only use this blend when I really need to!

    Horn of Plenty

Very unique scent. Cherry and almond. There is SOMETHING about this scent that smells so secretive. Mysterious, as if there is a shy, giggling secret it is holding. and I can smell/feel its intent even before I put it on, at the first whiff. delicious. I put this on my neck and wrists and by the end of the night my dad gave me 40 dollars. 5ml!

    Vinland

A very young smelling pale yellow scent. Smells like sunlight through pale yellow leaves on a cold early spring day. I can smell linden and trees and fields and pasture. all untouched with no people around. Something brand new yet very old, like a baby tree sprouting in an ancient grove. keeping the imp, but no 5ml.

    Lionheart

This scent reminds me a LOT of Follow Me Boy. I was a bit confused about that until I realized that both Lionheart and Follow Me Boy are very commanding, domineering scents with those intents as well. I was so excited to get Lionheart. Because my totem is the mountain lion and I have had plans for years to get 'heart of a lion' in gaelic tattooed on my back. I wore this to bed after a long hard depressing day. I even put some on the stuffed lion that I sleep with. However I did not remember to put out any energy/intents, so nothing extraordinary happened. but I did feel rather safe and protected while I slept. this is going to be a very important scent to me. definitely something I'll want to wear when I need extra courage and a kick in the pants. It will be my next project to find a big bottle of this.

    Tintagel

Holy MOSES this knocked my socks off my feet. I liked it because at first it reminded me a LOT of Hades (one of my favorites). but it is so much more complex and fun! It smells like Christmas! Yummy evergreens and dark berries and snuggly winter nights. tobacco and old wood and leather. and there is woodsmoke and a candy-like cinnamon. like chewy cinnamon bears. I LOVE THIS. it smells so old and medieval. I keep imagining the room of the knights of the round table! 5ML!!

    Snake Charmer

This is lovely and sexy. It is a deep dark burned vanilla. caramelized sugar. it is almost too heavy though. too deep and not feminine enough? it smells sexily unclean. I do like it but I don't think I will wear it often, unless I want to get frisky. way too masculine. for some reason.

    Buck Moon

I remember not being very enthusiastic about this scent the first time I tried it. But lets see what happens the second time around. It smells like sweet water and grains. Almost like what beer would smell like before it is fermented. or like Mead. this is very unique and light. has a grass note. I can't figure out whether I like this or not. it is a nice sweet scent but it bothers me somehow. and I have figured it out, when it dries down it smells like chalky violets. and I dislike violets. oh well.

    Honey Moon

although this does smell a bit like the dreaded honey lemon cough drops I so despise, it doesn't bother me! wow! lovely honey scent with a bit of... menthol maybe? it makes me think of antiquity. of old photographs, because it smells sort of like my baby picture album from the 80's so maybe decaying photographs? weird. It also has a sharp green smell to it. this would be great for Beltane. it smells like fertility!!

    Chaste Moon 2005

I smelled wine at the first whiff. lovely red wine. unless I was imagining things. There is a sweet peppermint note. and some cherry? Just like a cherry candy cane! I love this! that's all I'm getting though, no more wine as it dries, just cherry candy cane. It fades VERY fast however. before I could even make a decent review. oh well I loved it while it lasted.

    Harvest Moon 2005

I was excited to try this because it is one of my birthday moons (the other is Hunter, since I was born almost in between the moons) it smells like Jack! but with florals and spices and leaves. a very green jack. like as if Jack was a young green pumpkin. but it may be a bit too green and sharp. it is very unique. definitely the scents of early autumn. I might have to try this out again.
