  1. My boyfriend says he has liked every scent I have tried so far and have made a habit of wearing. The ones that I have noticed really get his attention are Mi-Go (which he says is his favorite on me), Dragon's Milk, The Unicorn, Arachne and 13. I tend to get quite a few compliments from several people when wearing Mi-Go. I also have to be careful about wearing Bliss because then I have the cats *and* the boyfriend trying to nuzzle me all the time.

    BPAL around the kids

That is so sweet! I should suggest that to a friend of mine, since his youngest son has horrible nightmares.

    Eve

This is such a beautiful scent. The rose is strong at first, but when it dries out there is the honey and apple blossoms. Very girly. Sadly, it doesn't last very long on my wrists, so I have had to resort to placing the oil on other pressure points, like at the throat.

    Crossroads

Crossroads has this lovely mix of loam, incense, tobacco (maybe not, but that is what I am picking up on), and flowers-I believe one of the flowers might be lily and possibly jasmine. It reminds me very much of Elegba, which is a scent I adore. I had expected Crossroads to smell icky, since I tend to shy away from things that have a loam/dirt smell (Penny Dreadful didn't agree with me after I tried it the second time). Crossroads has what I call a "sunshine" note to it. Maybe it is from the flowers, but I envision standing at a four way path, the sun beaming down and warming the skin, and the rich, clay earth underfoot.

    Blood Moon 2005

I bought an imp of this because I wasn't sure I would want a full bottle of this. Don't get me wrong, it is a wonderful scent and once again the Labbies do a great job of producing a Lunacy. The red sandalwood is most prominent, almost like walking through the Californian Redwood Forest. The grain notes are there, and it adds to the overall effect of spicy. Not an icky Old Spice type of spicy. I mean feral, running through the woods with the branches snapping under your feet type of spicy. Definately a sexy scent.

    Ice Queen

Mmm. The first notes I detected were spruce and the fruit. Perfect Yuletime imagery. The musk is there, but light. It's a wonderful, chilly scent. (Note: I have the 2004 version of this scent). I had no idea that trees could smell so wonderful!

    The City in the Sea

Took a chance on this because I have always loved the poem. I am usually not an aquatic person (I can't even swim that well) It definately smells like cologne in the bottle, which made me sad. I gave it a dab on the skin and waited. The violet and ivy notes instantly come out on my skin. I'm not really smelling kelp/seaweed, and having lived in California, I do know what that smells like. The ozone smell is there, which makes me think this would be a more masculine scent. Final verdict: I actually like this. It would be a bit strong for daily use, but it has an odd, cooling scent to it. I think this is the first aquatic scent that I'm willing to keep.

    Sugar Cookie

First sniff: Must not drool all over. I picked up on sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Wet: Still smells like it did in the imp, although the cinnamon is more prominent. As pointed out, it does smell like red hots candy at this point. Dry: It mellows to where it smells exactly like the sugar cookies that my mother taught me to bake. I am impressed, hungry, and in love.

    Maiden

I got this as a frimp today, and I am shocked no one suggested this to me sooner. The strongest note is the white tea, which has a very clean scent. I haven't picked out the carnation note yet, but the rose is there when the oil dries. This is a very nostalgic scent, and I'm really loving it.

    Pumpkin Patch III (2005, 2006)

First off, I love the icon on the bottle. That alone made me want to try this oil. In the bottle, it definately has a bright, fruity scent of pomegranate. I can smell the pumpkin mixed in as well, and I immediately thought of Halloweens back in California when my tongue, fingers, and skin would be dyed pink from eating pomegranates and there was the warm smell of a jack o' lantern. I was afraid that this was going to smell too much like Jack, but after comparing the two, I can pick out different notes that make the two oils different. This is a keeper.

    Bliss

I'm a firm believer that chocolate helps cure "the blues". Bliss, with its milk chocolate in a bottle is a chocoholic's dream come true. There's no guessing with this oil. Pure, seratonin happy milk chocolate. Not cheap smelling milk chocolate, like is often used in making chocolate flavored lip gloss. This is like Beth took a bar of chocolate, melted it down, and poured it lovingly in a bottle. This is the oil that started me on my food scent loving, and I'm so glad now that I splurged on a big bottle of this.

    The Unicorn

Another scent that I'm in love with and must buy more. I took one sniff, and immediately I thought "this is what a unicorn would smell like". Not the horsey looking unicorns that are often portrayed on calendars and books. I'm talking about the unicorns from Medieval times with more of a deer like body and a tufted tail. It's such a lovely scent, and I can always tell when a BPAL oil is a keeper when my boyfriend goes "you smell good!" and tries to nibble at my wrist. Wispy? Perhaps. The Unicorn made me think more of a unicorn running fast and free through a meadow rather than a wispy little creature.

    Penny Dreadful

At first sniff, I was like "Dear gods! I bought potting soil?!". Never one to go merely on one sniff, I tried again, and realized what I was smelling was the red loam. I dabbed a bit on my hand. Wet, it still smells like dirt. When it dried, it became spicy dirt. After a half hour, the dirt smell goes away to be replaced by cinnamon (it smells like those cinnamon hard candies). Hmm. I wasn't sure what to expect with this oil. I think this is one of those scents to wear every once in a while, because it doesn't scream "me!"scent.

    Trick or Treat

I was afraid to try this oil at first because of bad memories associated with candy corn (there should be a warning label on how much you should eat in one sitting). I took the plunge and bought an imp, since that would be a safer investment than a bottle. Somehow, Beth magically caught the essence of candy corn straight from the bag and put it into a bottle. Wow. Super sugary sweet that is giving me a sugar rush just sniffing it. It's like Midway's hyper little sister. While I'm pretty certain a bottle of this would have been overkill, I'm definately loving my imp of this.

    Elegba

I had no idea this would be that sweet! In the imp, I would swear it has a chocolate smell. The coconut is there, but it's not overly powerful. The bay rum adds spice, while the tobacco scent was the last note I picked up on. Normally I steer clear away from tobacco scents. Having done some study on Voodoo and the LOA, this is exactly how I imagined Elegba would smell, and in many ways, what I associate with New Orleans. Not a scent I would wear everyday, but it's got enough of the mystery in it for those nights out on the town.

    Vice

This was a frimp I got with a 5ml of Flower Moon off of eBay. I popped it open, sniffed, and had to cover up a sneeze. What it smelled like was Nyquil cherry syrup. Not something I would ever want to smell like. I did a search on the BPAL website to see what notes are in the oil. Yep, there's the cherry. I gave it another sniff, and this time I could pick out the chocolate, but it's barely there compared to the cherry. There's a slight tang that might be the orange. I'm not sure how old the frimp is, so that could be making the difference on why I don't smell the chocolate that much. Not a horrible scent, but just not me, and I adore the chocolate scents. This is going in the swap pile.

    Dia de los Muertos

Just got an imp of this scent today. Wow. The tobacco smell is the first note I picked up, and it reminded me of this shop in the mall I used to work at that sold tobacco and coffee. Normally I don't care for the scent, but it had such pleasant connotations that I kept sniffing. Ah yes! There's the chocolate and cactus flowers. I had thought this would end up being a more masculine scent, but on my skin, it is a nice musky smell reminscent of sitting around a campfire. Just have to convince myself that I don't need to spend more money this month.

    Rose Red

I'll have to see how Rose Red '04 differs from Rose Red '05. I've got the '04 version, and I am in love. It smells like freshly strewn rose petals. There is something unique about this compared to Two, Five, and Seven which smells straight up roses. Rose Red is more like sniffing baby roses, or just a handful of petals. The staying power on this scent is great. I applied some to my wrist and throat, and even after 8 hours the scent was still there. Very pretty scent.

    Thirteen (13)

13 is definately a lucky number for me. In the bottle, it smells mostly of chocolate, but not in the same was as Bliss. On the skin...it's like one of those chocolate oranges you can buy at the grocery store. The white chocolate is prevalent, with a splash of orange being playful with it. It's a great scent for this time of year, especially this close to Halloween (Samhain).

    Numb

I decided to buy a 5ml of Numb as a whim. People kept saying it had violets, and I like violets. Then I noticed that this scent was being sold like crazy by people who said it just smelled nasty. This furthered my resolve to try it. I'll admit that I didn't like it at first. It gave me a headache and it smelled like someone had taken "essence of Grandmother" and stuffed her in a bottle. Wasn't quite sure I wanted to smell like a grandmother. I figured that I would store the bottle away for a bit, and if I still didn't like it, I could throw it in a sale. I took it out today and dabbed on a bit. I think being stashed away did the trick. It's now not headache inducing. The violet smell is actually quite lovely. Less grandmotherly. It reminds me of what a Romantic era writer would have worn. I'm going to have the boyfriend sniff and get a final verdict if he thinks this is a "me" scent.

    Storm Moon

Normally I am not an aquatic scent girl (I'm more earthy/fire). Still, I had several people say they liked Storm Moon, so I gave it a try. In the imp: Okay, it smells like...wait is that fabric softner? Yes, it kinda does smell like fabric softner. It also smells like when the rain first comes down and hits the pavement. On the skin: Thought it might be too strong or too masculine smelling. Still smelled like I just threw laundry into the washer. It also reminded me highly of a cologne one of my exes used to wear. Thankfully, I don't hat that ex. Dry: It mellowed out and became more subdued. Still has a tangy, ozone smell. Verdict: While not my favorite of the Lunacies, it's honestly not a bad scent. It doesn't exactly reminde me of a storm, but it's still a nice scent.

    Bewitched

Wow! In the imp, the first note is of green tea. I love green tea because it has a very clean, natural scent. The berries are there, but not overpowering. On the skin, the clean scent remains, and the note of blackberry is more evident. It's a very lovely scent that reminds me of summers picking blackberries at a friend's farm.

    Gypsy Queen

I wasn't certain I would like this oil based off the description. Candle smoke after all can smell really nice or really stinky if it is a cheap candle. Beth, bless her heart, found the perfect combo. The Romany incense and candle smoke were the most prominent, with the underlying of carnation and rose. This scent lasted quite a bit on my skin, and I only dabbed on a small bit on the back of my hand. Definately a winner.

    Skuld

When I first popped the lid off the imp, my first thought was "grape soda". I looked up what the notes were for this scent, and nope, no grape. Once on the skin, it still smelled grape like, but now it has a lovely honey and ylang ylang mixture. The Arabian musk is subtle, and not overbearing (thank goodness!) I adore this scent as much as I was hoping I would (I read the manga "Oh My Goddess" which has the three Norns in it and I've always liked Skuld)

    Milk Moon 2005

A very yummy scent. In the imp I have, it smells quite like buttered popcorn Jelly Bellies. On the skin, the honey and milk are just wonderful. It's definately got a very creamy scent, but not cloying or overpowering. What I love is that this one lasts on my skin for several hours before I need a reapplication. I'm in love.
