  1. Kumari Kandam was the first thing that came to mind for me as well; it's sort of clay cavelike... there are some other harder-to-find Limited Editions that might fit the bill - Shanghai Tunnel and Carfax Abbey come to mind. One of the more earthy blends from Rappaccini's Garden, maybe Destroying Angel, could add the earthy decay. While I wouldn't call it cavelike at all, an "out there" suggestions is Cathode, which to me is fairly heavy on the oakmoss and spanish moss, and the mint adds a sense of coolness that might be interesting to him.

    edited for spelling

  2. Is there a BPAL that is like Versace Woman?

Notes are: Frangipani Blossoms and Leaves, Jasmine, Bergamot, Eglantine, Padparadscha Lotus, Plum, Raspberry, Blue Cedar of Lebanon, Musk, Amber, Inoke Wood

It honestly smells sort of sparkling peach on me even though peach isn't a note.

I am not familiar with Versace Woman, but when you mentioned it smells like sparkling peach, I immediately thought of Tamora, which has: Amber, heliotrope, golden sandalwood, peach blossom and vanilla bean.

  3. I'm looking for a list of new items since the last time the Nattie/For_the_Nonce one was updated in the spring. I'm totally behind on my spreadsheet.

pugmom, thanks for the link! The layout is quite a bit different, but I can definitely use yours as a backup if I can't track down something closer.

Has anyone maintained the Nattie's spreadsheet - either the older layout or the newer one that For The Nonce put together?

Anything specifically you're looking for? I took most of Nattie's spreadsheet and tweaked it a bit for its current incarnation.

  4. I love this - smelling this gives me strong visual impressions of the same "pre-hunt celebration at the feast hall" that I visualize when I smell Tintagel, except Hunter Moon is the celebration before the hunt and Tintagel is the "the hunting party returns" celebration.

In Hunter Moon, the wine flows strongly on this warm autumn evening, the smell of leather fills the air, cheeks are slightly flushed with pride and alcohol, there is merriment, and the muskiness of the hunters mingles with the distant musk of the hunted, which electrifies the air with a throbbing sense of anticipation.

  5. My favorites for going out to a show are: the 13 from April 2007 (the guy next to me stuck his nose into my hair at one point, and I'm convinced it wasn't an accident :D ); Trick #2, Mme. Moriarty and Snake Oil. There's a "dirtiness" in those that meshes well with a dark, noisy club, and they have enough throw that you create a little aura as you glide on by :P

  6. In an attempt to help/enable a co-worker, can anyone suggest a BPAL that's like Sheseido's Inoui? It's from the seventies and discontinued. I poked around the web and found it described variously as: "rich, warm chypre," "green fresh balsamic," "fruity-floral with a myrrh base," & "floral chypre."

Top notes: Lemon, Galbanum, Peach, Juniper

Middle: Jasmine, Pine Needles, Thyme, Freesia

Base: Oakmoss, Cedarwood, Myrrh, Civet, Musk

Most reviews called out the galbanum, peach, jasmine, freesia, myrrh, and (on occasion) oakmoss.

    Thanks :P

  7. Well, I liked the simple, sweet spiciness of Pink Moon 2007, but it gave my husband flashbacks to the first day of school in the Soviet Union, when all the Young Pioneers would give boquets of carnations to the teacher or the girls would wear carnations in their hair. He kindly asked that I swap or sell this one :P

  8. MCLXVI (#1166)

This one is quite a morpher! It starts off with a strong grapefruit-y note (I'm guessing it's yuzu) and then as it drys down, moves into something that smells like Intrigue (black palm and fig maybe?). At any rate, it's one of the more interesting Chaos Theories that have crossed my path. I like it, but don't love it, so off to swaps it goes.
