    Ode on Melancholy

The first mental image I get when I smell this is looking out of an old, wood-framed window on a sullen, grey day, and the rain is making tear streaks on the window. Stillness, except for the sound of the rain outside, and I carry a heavy wistful sadness in my heart. Depressingly beautiful. While it's too sadmaking for me to wear, I'll keep it for the oil burner when I'm in exactly that sort of mood, and it will uplift me a bit as we revel in our sadness together.

    Fresh, wet, and/or green florals

You might want to look for the LE Beltane 2006 - that might be spot-on.

    Searching for the Perfect Vanilla?

    Seconded!

    Sleepytime BPAL

My husband swears by Somnus (he's an occasional insomniac) but I sleep best with Temple of Dreams. All the Somnium blends are available as imps, so you might want to get a pack and see what works for you, as I found them all to be quite different.

    Honey and Beeswax scents

I forgot about this earlier, but i'm wearing Blood Kiss today and it's got a really warm earthy sexy honey vibe.

Bpal similar to Hermes Eau de Merveille?

You may have to go review the notes, but Santa Muerte came off as one of those "reversed" scents to me.

    Pronouncing "BPAL" and scent names!

i think it is pronounced as regular, old vert Yep, one syllable, like "vairt" (long "a" sound for the "e")

    Chaos Theory III: Strange Attractors

MCCXVIII Brownies baking in the oven. Drydown seems to add the lightest touch of spiciness, so I'll say mexican chocolate brownies in the oven. Edited to add: MCCXXVII Starts off bright and minty -- totally enlivening and awake-making After a while, it morphs into what smells like a slightly sweeter version of Neptune - love it

    Rain Scents

Ullalume seems sort of rainy and melancholy to me.

    Cloister Graveyard in the Snow

In a word, Exquisite. This particular Friedrich painting has always resonated deeply within me; I find the work to be evocative due to its realism and at the same time profoundly contemplative due to the subject matter. That said, I am completely and utterly delighted with Elizabeth's interpretation of Cloister Graveyard in the Snow. She has perfectly captured the stillness and the profundity of Friedrich's work in this blend; Elizabeth has successfully instilled the faded majesty of the cathedral, the chill of the winter air, the lingering essence of the life that was in this sanctified space and the solemn permanence of death that ultimately conquers all that comes before - all this is found in one little bottle. Stunning. I am so very pleased that this blend wears so well on me and am grateful to have been given an opportunity to dwell in this space through another of my senses.

I have a suggestion! Is it possible to use a color to highlight the row for items that are new or have been updated with each update?

    Honey and Beeswax scents

From the Carnivale Diabolique series, Gennivere, L'artiste du Diable went very honey on me.
  14. I'd highly recommend Peitho; it's a warm and cozy jasmine that I really like, and I generally don't consider florals to be my thing.
  15. I think the simularity with Snowcake has been mentioned before , but I noticed today that Dana O'Shee and the Snow on Snow dusting powder are very similar (obviously, I guess). I'm going to try layering them after a Snow Festival bubble bath sometime... oh, and I'll second the Silky Underwear/Peitho rec

The Best Scents for Home, a Room, the Car...

For heavier room scents, I like Lust; Tintagel is my favorite for around the holidays. For lighter scents, I like Amsterdam and Rosalind. I'm slightly bummed I didn't get a bottle of Shadow when it was still around as that was really nice as well. Ouija's kind of cool too. Red Lantern is a wonderful room scent for parties. I found that the Panaceas I've tried make good room scents as well.

    Hades

I found Hades to be very warm and spicy with a strong blast of white floral in the middle of the spice - unfortunately the floral reminds me of soap. If the floral didn't smell soapy to me, I'd keep it. I'm going to try it on the husband in the hope that he doesn't amp the floral. This is one that I'm sure is perfect for someone, but it's not me.

    Temple of Dreams

My favorite of the Somnium blends, both for the scent and for its effectiveness. My husband may swear by his little bottle of Somnus, but Temple of Dreams is the right one for me

    Chaos Theory III: Strange Attractors

CCXXV: 225 I found this to be a complex blend of dark musk (angry monkey-style) and something that I couldn't quite put my finger on. Interesting, but a little intense. I then shared it with my friend Larry, who fell in love with it and said it reminded him of scents that mingle in the market/bazaar of a city in India where he has a home. So it turned out to be for Larry instead of me

Hippiesh, spicy, musky scents - without patchouli

It could totally be just me, but Bathsheba feels like a summertime (lighter) non-patchouli version of Snake Oil.

    The smell of night

You know what might work for this is Nocnitsa.

    Where is this scent?

It's one of the Stations of the Sun and can be found at the bottom of the Excolo page There's not a note description for this blend, btw.

Why do scents turn to baby powder on me?!

I'd second the Sin recommendation, also a couple other ones you might want to try are Blood Kiss, Voodoo and Hollywood Babylon.

Wine, Beer, Rum, Bourbon... the booze scents

Montresor is a good red wine/oaken barrel scent.
