    Aunt Caroline's Joy Mojo

In the Imp ~ Wet, juicy berries and sweet cotton candy. Wet ~ Bubble Gum. Sticky and sweet. Strawberry Bubblicious Bubble Gum (from my childhood) to be exact. On the drydown ~ It loses some of the sticky-sweet aroma and mellows out to a mild marshmallow-y fragrance with a fruity bite to it. I will have to test the joy properties of the oil out ~ I will wear this a few times to see if it helps to inspire joy in me. It is a "happy" sort of fragrance... it's hard to be very serious when you smell like Bubble Gum, Cotton Candy and Marshmallows.

    Dove's Heart

I am truly touched to have received this oil as a gift-frimp from the person I bought "Black Cat" from. She had read some of my postings and on the imps tag wrote that "it seemed like something that might help." and she decanted it, specifically for me ~ which made me feel very cared for. BPAL'ers are just great, I tell you. Always looking out for each other ~ even when we haven't met in real life... Anyhow ~ I am truly touched regarding how this came my way and I thank my benefactor, very much. In the imp ~ White, light florals... very, very pretty. Wet ~ The scent of violets being crushed under foot on a dampened path. On the dry down ~ this is just lovely. It does have an old-fashioned "feel" to it... in that the scent of floral is very strong, yet is mixed with a powdery smell ~ not unlike my grandmother's fancy dusting powder she used to let me use when I wanted to feel grown-up and special. I will be trying this oil during meditational times and will also utilise it for it's intended magical properties, as well. It is a lovely, though somewhat forlorn blend ~ I could see it being perfect for mending of a broken heart work.

    Black Cat

I am going through a rather rough patch in my life, just now... so, just from the description ~ I wanted to give this one a go. From the Imp ~ I smell roses... and something that has a rather musky scent to it. It smells like a fresh, clean scent. (Not like other musk-y musks...) Wet ~ more roses. Very nice. Crisp, refreshing... like a walk through a park in England. On the dry down ~ Roses and Powder. I like powder... so this is not a problem for me. I think it gives the roses a little bit of a vintage aroma. Very nice fragrance. Hopefully it brings joy back into my life ~ or at least opens me back up to it... and an outgoing hex or two on the side would be a definite plus.

    Pumpkin Patch V (2005, 2006)

Pumpkin with five woods, English ivy and galangal root. I was very intrigued with this fragrance ~ only having read the description. It sounded wonderful and I was eager to try it. In the bottle ~ I get a very green fragrance ~ must be the Ivy. Very fresh and clean smelling. Nice. Wet ~ I still smell the green... and no pumpkin. The green is a lovely, bright fragrance ~ I could easily see this as a mens cologne. It would also be nice in a bath bomb, or soap. On the drydown... I never got pumpkin, at all. But this bottle still did not disappoint. I really like it and would wear it during the day. For some reason this fragrance brings to mind picnics. I like this scent, I will keep a bottle of it on hand.

    Pumpkin Patch IV (2005, 2006)

This one is my second favourite in the series... (#2 with Cocoa is my favourite) This one is also OOoooooo... so very nice. In the bottle ~ Pumpkin and something sweet in the background. Wet ~ Pumpkin and Sandlewood... with a smoky scent that ties it all together. Lovely on the dry down ~ Spicy pumpkin, very rich. Smells like incense, to me.

    Pumpkin Patch III (2005, 2006)

I do have to say... I really expected to strongly dislike this fragrance ~ but I had to buy the set... so try it, I had to. Am I ever glad. In the bottle: Pumpkin, fruits and buttery cocoa. (Yep. I smell cocoa... which is weird... but nice.) Wet ~ rich, red, ripened pomegranate... On the dry down ~ The pumpkin scent comes faintly back in the background... leaving the full, wonderful scent of a ripe pomegranate to be the star in this scent production. Nice throw, long lasting... this would make a lovely bubble bath or shampoo, too.

    Pumpkin Patch I (2005, 2006)

In the bottle ~ APPLES. Wet ~ APPLES. No pumpkin... On the drydown ~ Sort of mellows to a tame applesauce fragrance... which would be great if I wanted to smell like applesauce. (About 3 hours into wearing this I pick up a distinct flower aroma, too... so I get flowers and apples... but no pumpkin.)

    Pumpkin Patch II (2005, 2006)

Oh. My. Gosh. Pumpkin love, right here. I thought that I put up my review of these last month ~ but can't find my posts anywhere... so here I am, reading from my Scent Notebook. This is my very, very VERY favourite of the PP set. It is just a perfect chocolate-y fragrance for me... (Bliss was too cloyingly sweet on me ~ my chemistry tends to really amp chocolate... and not in a good way.) In the bottle ~ Pumpkin bread with large, gooey chocolate chunks. Mmmmmm... Wet ~ Pure chocolate and then the pumpin starts peeking out, a very bright and cheerful scent. Very crisp smelling... (for lack of better words). On the drydown ~ the fragrance settles into a lovely blend of cocoa, pumpkin and some other fruit in a clear and distinct undertone. A wonderful fragrance with good throw ~ and the on-the-fence regarding foody scents should find this bottle to be a perfect blend. Not too foody ~ it is just right. (Though, I admit, I LOVE the foody fragrances!) I love this scent from the Pumpkin Patch. It is staying with me.

    Samhain

THIS is what autumn smells like! I did not expect to like this fragrance, at all... since it has patchouli in it and patchouli and I have a hate/hate relationship. I needn't have worried. In the bottle ~ Damp leaves swirling in a gust of wind. The scent is warm and comforting... like walking through a forest at twilight time, just before the weather turns cold. Wet ~ Spicy pine mixed with campfire smoke... On the drydown ~ Pine with a strong, spicy scent. This scent reminds me of when my family and I went camping in the Fall in Oregon... a wonderful, very fall fragrance. A keeper.

    Sugar Skull

Lovely. Absolutely lovely. In the bottle ~ Boozy candy. *sniffs again* Yep. Candy with a really strong, boozy kick to it. Wet ~ Booze and something spicy. Slight vanilla tones, beautifully complex. On the dry down ~ Sinfully sweet without the caloric guilt. I smell like cookies, warm from the oven. There is a very faint fruit-ish aroma that comes out after about 10 minutes. This scent has excellent throw and is very long lasting. I put this on before bedtime two nights ago ~ and in the morning I *still* smelled of Sugar Skull ~ creamy, dark, spicy and sweet ~ all rolled into one very posh fragrance. I do have to say the label really surprised me... I imagined a skull... made of sugar. Not a lady, arm aloft ~ standing amongst flames... with bars in the background (?) Must figure that out... Wonderful scent ~ I have to find more of this one! Now.

    Devil's Night

... This is the scent of autumn night, fires in the distance, with a touch of boozy swoon, playful sugar and thuggish musk. In the bottle ~ Buttery lemons (!) You remember those "Lemon Cooler" cookies? This smells like that, to me. Wet ~ I get some dense smokiness mixed with booze. (Rum, specifically.) On the dry down ~ my skin gobbles this up so it goes sort of talc-y on me, very quickly. A nice Autumnal fragrance, just not for me. Lovely label, though!

    Trick or Treat

A very nice, warm, home-y, foodie scent. Yum. In the bottle I get buttery, maple goodness. Sticky-sweet (in the absolute best way) is an excellent description. Wet ~ Buttery toffee candy. On the dry down ~ candy corn with a hint of smoke. A keeper, for sure! I love this Fall fragrance, very much.

    Dia de los Muertos

Mmmmmm... Beth has bottled sexiness. I really like this fragrance. I don't get any of the foody aromas that other BPAL'ers have described. In the bottle and on my skin I get a heavy, dusky floral scent that is absolutely GORGEOUS. On the drydown ~ Floral (mostly roses and something else I can't quite put my finger on) and incense-y smoke... bright, alluring and slightly dark. I adore this fragrance. Must. Find. More.
  14. BlackDahlia

    All Saints'

Hmmmm... I don't associate this scent with Fall, at all... I associate it with Summer. In the bottle, roses, roses and more roses. *inhale deeply* I love roses. Wet ~ roses and a slight wood-y fragrance. On the drydown ~ lovely, aged roses. This is a sort of scent I would associate with churches. Old churches... this is a complex and dusky scent. I like this fragrance, quite well. Just makes me think of summer in a rose garden. I don't "smell" Fall, at all.

    Tulzscha

Oooooo... Minty, cucumber-y goodness, with a tingle!! In the bottle ~ Pure Mint. Wet ~ Mint with a hint of cucumber. Tingly (in a nice way) and bright... a very happy scent. On the drydown ~ warmer tones come through. Mint is still predominate, cucumber still hangs around, quietly... but there is a new, spicier fragrance that comes out the longer Tzulcha is on my skin. I really like this scent. It would be really nice to wear on those low energy days!

    Torture King

I had to try this one when the opportunity came for me to be able to do so. Normally I avoid citrus scents ~ but, because the description was so well written, I had to try out a bottle. In the bottle I get citrus with musk ~ with a good, strong bite to it. Wet ~ NO citrus on me! (Which is a very good thing!) the scent is slightly powdery yet very rich. The musk mellows everything ~ and, normally, I am not a fan of musk. On the drydown ~ a warm, complex and wonderful blend with very, very good throw ~ that is long-lasting. I think that an imps worth, or maybe two is going to be devoted to some scent crafting. I think I will make some Torture King Bath Bombs, and maybe some lotion. This one is a keeper. I am so glad that the Lab writes such compelling descriptions ~ I would never have tried this just reading the scents utilised in it. Edited to correct a typo.

    Lick It

In the imp... Peppermint mixed with a boozy (?) scent. I wanted to like this... I really did. On my skin the scent was still minty ~ but, on me, after about five minutes it went into some kind of an herbal scent, mixed lightly with mint. On the drydown (on me) the scent all but vanished... after an hour I could not detect the fragrance, at all.
  18. BlackDahlia

    Buck Moon

In the Imp this smelled very herbal-y. Very nice, clean and warm... so not the "watery" smell I often associate with "clean" scents. On my skin ~ Green herbals, with no undertone of musk, at all. On the drydown it turned into an unknown, but often smelled, floral fragrance, which was nice, dusky and slightly powdery... the scent has very good throw and lasted a very long time (6 plus hours) Sadly, this scent is just not "me" Clean notes do not go well on my skin and have a tendency to give me a raging headache. Buck Moon was not an exception.

    Blue Moon 2004

Well... Someone will be happy when they receive this Imp from me. Ummmmm... No. In the imp I really smelled the Aloe. This is a very green blend to me ~ which is lovely for other people but most definitely is not "me". This is a wet fragrance, too... not unlike taking a walk in a meadow in the rain. Not unpleasant ~ but not me. Wet ~ Green, Green, Green. A very clean and uplifting scent... with a slight scent of those little tiny white flowers that are bell-shaped. I can't for the life of me think of what that flower is called. On the drydown ~ green and floral ~ and it is giving me a headache. Off to wash this one off. I know that the next owner will treasure this. This one was mailed off a couple of days ago to an interested (and very excited!) BPAL'er.

    Spooky

I soooooooooo wanted to love this scent. I purchased a bottle of it, sight unsniffed. Just from the description of the scent... I was off on a desperate search for a bottle of it these last couple of months. My lovely and wonderful bottle of it arrived, today. (From the January 2005 edition) From the bottle ~ the smell is delicious. WOW. Chocolate and Mint. Yummmmmmy. On the skin ~ my skin amp-ed the coconut to an awful burnt plastic scent. I thought it would go away on the dry down ~ it didn't. On the dry down ~ it became burnt plastic with a side of cocoa, coconut and mint. Since this is so loverly on so many people ~ I can't see just using it as a room fragrance... so I will be selling it off. I so wanted to be able to wear this gorgeous fragrance. Poo.

    Shanghai

Very nice. I can first smell the tea with a light lemon-y fragrance added. Very clean, light and uplifting fragrance. I might make up a fragrance for my oldest son with this. He is now interested in fragrances and this might be just the thing he would like. The next time I see him I will have to see if he likes the fragrance ~ I think I might make him an after shave for Christmas, maybe.

    New Orleans

So far, tonight, out of four new Imps ~ I am 3 for 3 in loving them... I enjoy the scent of Jasmine and Honeysuckle. I don't pick up a spice scent or the scent of decay... *chuckles* This smells quite like the after-effects of having had a LUSH bath with the Youki-Hi bath bomb. The lovely scent of Jasmine in bloom with humidity hanging in the air. Absolutely lovely. This would be wonderful in a lotion. I think I will be making some up with this imp. ADDED Dec. 30: In the Imp ~ Jasmine and Honeysuckle... and a lot of it. Wet ~ Florals still with humidity added... this is a very heavy, lush fragrance. On the drydown ~ I could swear I smell moss mixed with the night-blooming flowers. This fragrance is very "southern" to me. I love it!! 6 hours after application the scent was still going strong ~ and this fragrance also has a fairly decent throw. I adore Jasmine ~ this is a loverly blend.

    Rapture

Oh, my GOSH... I dearly adore rapture. I smell roses and the jasmine, easily. Very rich, warm and seductive. I really love this scent ~ even more than Hymn. It is a less innocent fragrance that Hymn ~ darker, more brooding and far more elegant. Perfect for night or day time use. I will be wearing this tomorrow. I think that this and Jack are my favorites. Absolutely lovely and GORGEOUS. Very seductive. Mmmmmmm...

    Persephone

From the imp this smells so fruity and lush. A hint of rose creeps in that keeps it from being too fruity. On this smells really pretty. Sort of fruity with a bit of rose. The scent reminds me of something I can't quite place. I will update if I can figure out what it is. A nice scent. I will try this again as a daytime scent.

    Les Fleurs du Mal

From the Imp: Roses, roses and roses... Lovely. Wet on skin: The scent of wisteria makes an appearance and combines nicely with the rose. I do not smell lilac at all... On the Dry Down: Roses and talc. Very pretty. My chemistry, however, is gobbling this up ~ two hours later I can only smell very faint roses and talc. In closing: I don't imagine I will be keeping this as it just doesn't have much throw on my skin. Lovely, beautiful fragrance, though...
