    Cucumber-ish scents?

If we're talking gourds in general, I thought Titania was melony. But if we're talking specifically cucumber, then I'd second Empyreal Mist and Blue Moon if you can get hold of it.
  2. Mmm - Lust smells to my nose like a female Fenris Wolf (matching note is red musk)

    Titus Andronicus

My boyfriend wore this this morning and although I've sniffed and resniffed his collection of imps many times, I didn't recognise it as Titus Andronicus on him. It smelt just like Haunted... Soft, musky lemonyness - very clean and calm.

    Scents with almonds?

Glad I saw this thread, since almond really really burns on me - not cinnamon tingle but full on 'wtf was that? eek! eek! wash it off!' acid burn... And Hecate did that big time. Strangely, none of the others mentioned have had this effect, even Queen 'Almondo' of Sheba . I think there might be a difference between bitter and sweet almond???
  5. I made up a Vixen showergel and thought it a classier version of Flying Fox.
  6. Bayou was mostly warm, damp tropical blooms for me.

    The Lion

To me! This is utterly gorgeous - I havn't stopped sniffing it both on my wrist and from the bottle since it arrived in the post this morning - mmm!!! The Lion is actually rather orangey on me, with a touch of sweetness making the overall impression not unlike Jezebel, only deeper and less sweet. I can't make out any distinct 'darker' notes such as vetiver or civet but I think there are some spices there grounding it. Its warm and comforting and lovely and I'll definately order a larger bottle once Beth releases this.
  8. What jumped out of me from your list was Block Buster! I havn't smelt it and I don't know whether you like it, but it seems made for the job!

    Taurus

Taurus for me is predominantly oakmoss and rose, with a tiny touch of sandalwood and ylangylang softening things out underneath. To my nose, it is a very /English/ scent, reminding me of taking summer walks down country lanes and catching whiffs of garden roses and nearby woods and hedgerows. It's more gentle and delicate than I expected. The bovine equivalent would be a delicate white cow being garlanded with flowers, rather than a big macho bull in a muddy field

    Fenris Wolf

Fenris Wolf is absolutely gorgeous! Its a warm, resiny woodsy sexy scent which sweetens as it wears. Its similar to Golden Priapus, but where that was medicinal and golden/green, Fenris is darker, warmer (furrier?!) and reddish in my mind. A brief mental picture (ignore if you don't like this kind of rambling! ): I'm in a forest and I've met this forest dwelling man and he's sheltering an injured or young wild forest animal (stoat? fox?) in between a leather waistcoat and his bare skin and I'm leaning in to say hello to it and I get a whiff of wild animal and skin and forest... Its a warm, wild and fiercely loving scent. I got an imp for my boyfriend to try - its easily the best of the bunch I chose for him and I'll definately be ordering a big bottle. I will wear it myself too - & I think it will also make a great warming autumn/winter bath when the 5ml arrives or meditate with it & I'll make journeys back to that forest and see what i find because it's bringing back memories I don't think were made in this life ... I love it when my imagination's triggered like this
  11. Strange, and slightly unsettling comparison of Jester with Rockstar soap?! At least on my hand yesterday. Will try again since the notes aren't the same, or are they? I'm /not/ a fan of Rockstar!!

    Oils for Chakra Work?

Ok, here's a little info from my chakra chart: Crown: frankincense, oilbanum, oakmoss, lotus Third eye: jasmine, vetiver, basil, patchouli, rosemary Throat: lavender, sandalwood, neroli, sage Heart: geranium, bergamot, rose, clary sage Solar plexus: chamolmile, lemon, thyme, ylang ylang Lower abdomen: sandalwood, petitgrain, ylang ylang Root: cedar, clove, cypress, marjoram, myrrh I don't think that the fact that allamanda's book lists different oils under different chakras is problematic. Oils used for chakra work should be selected intuitively before anything, in my opinion, so I use my chart as more of a guide.
  13. Sounds delicious, orangepoppy! I think the only BPAL oil that has all these notes is Kali, which I havn't tried but am expecting in my next order. Out of interest, which Lush products did you use?

    Alice

This is a /nice/ scent. I agree with the reviewers who have said it’s a little girl’s perfume: pretty and sweet and the notes are perfectly balanced; however, it’s too girly for daytime (when I like wearing more fresh, unisex scents) and too girly for night (when I like wearing scrumptiously sexy scents) and so I can't see a time when I would ever want to wear it.

    Dragon's Heart

First on, Dragon’s Heart is round and sweet and warm. However, something’s hitting my sinuses though and warning me not to sniff too hard or I’ll get a headache – could be the fig, because I have the same not-quite-a-headache sensation from The Apothecary. Hmmm… As it dries, the spicy, smoky note is coming out which is really lovely. This is definitely a protective dragon, capable of destruction but also kindness. I’m making it go a bit soapy, though, and so the final verdict is: very nice, but not totally wearable, for me.

    Cheshire Cat

This smells so delicious out of the bottle: like very fat, jolly marmalade! Wearing, the citrus mellows out and the berry and floral and herbacious notes come through. Really scrumptious, reminding me of Sunday teatimes eating buttered muffins with marmalade and blackcurrant jam in front of the fire. I hadn’t realised the Cheshire cat was so cuddly and playful! I’m going to enjoy the imp very much, and may purchase a larger bottle – I’m loving wearing it.

    The Caterpillar

This oil smells very complicated in the bottle. The jasmine is predominant but I can definitely make out the bergamot and incense notes too. Wearing, The Caterpillar sweetens somewhat into a heady, mainly floral perfume, which I think is a little too heavy for me to wear often. It’s going slightly soapy, in fact, which is often the story of jasmine for me unfortunately. I'm going to try again, though, since from other reviews I can tell this is a very chamelion like oil & I'd love to experience the more earthy side of The Caterpillar.

    Love Me

First off, it looks gorgeous in the bottle – a pinky gentle orange red. Wet, I can smell jasmine, orange blossom and a resin of some sort. Also cinnamon. I can understand the cola connotations mentioned by previous reviewers, but this is more like the organic cola drink you can get from health shops than commercial Coca-Cola. I realise that I’ve never smelt flowers and cinnamon together before, and that it’s a great combination. As it dries, Love Me becomes gorgeously sweet and softly spicy, and really suits its colour. I think this would be great in a massage oil and in the bath, and I'm ordering a larger bottle - will be gorgeous as summer starts to drift away.

    Danube

Yum. Out of an order of 24 imps, Danube jumped out and said, 'try me first!'. When I was a child, we had a peony growing in the garden, and my mother would sometimes cut a single flower and place it in a bottle green globe of a vase which matched the flower in shape and size. I would sit at the kitchen table and gaze at the velvety dark red petals against the cool green glass; Danube reminds me of those moments. It's luscious, cool and mysterious and totally lovely. Edited to add: after three hours, Danube has lost the initial crispness and has gone slightly cloying. Will have to try another day I think.

    Dana O'Shee

... Offerings of milk, honey and sweet grains were made to placate these creatures, and it is that the basis of the scent created in their name. I was expecting to really like Dana, since I love sweet, foody smells. Almond, however, was the begining, middle and end of Dana O'Shee for me - perhaps a slightly sweetened almond but the honey, milk and grain notes were undetectable. It really smelt just like almond essence used in cooking, or bakewell tarts. I do love bakewell tarts, but not on me, as it were! -fallow deer

    Ravenous

I received Ravenous as a bonus imp with an order that included Vixen. I fell head-over-heels in love with Vixen’s spicy warm sexiness, and Ravenous pales in comparison for me. They smelt very similar in the bottle, but when applied, Ravenous just fell flat. It was as if the notes were boring guests at a party, droning on at the same time, ‘hello, I’m patchouli’ and ‘hello, I’m orange blossom’ and never really talking or listening to each other. I felt like they were waiting for bright, sociable ginger to come along and liven things up. I would never choose Ravenous over Vixen I used the whole imp up in a bath (I do love patchouli) and have no regrets whatsoever!! -fallow deer

    Goneril

This is a strong, bold, confidant floral. I couldn’t really pin any of the notes down, but I didn’t really give myself enough time to be honest. I can't say what it smelt like on my skin since I couldn't bring myself to put it on. Goneril really smelt like a perfume that a businesswoman in a power suit and heels would wear for a meeting, and from whom I would wince away if she stood too close on the tube. Its stylish, but simply not me. Swapped! -fallow deer

    Unseelie

This was the first BPAL oil that I picked - from the descriptions and reviews it sounded really lovely. Unfortunately, my skin didn't like it and it turned into 'Moonwind', an old Avon scent which I had a sample of when I was about eight (in fact you could call it my first perfume - ugh!). I couldn't get this association out of my head and Unseelie remained slightly harsh generic perfume which I had to wash off. -fallow deer

    Bliss

Bliss smelt a bit foetid out of the bottle, but on my skin it was exactly melting milk chocolate. Used the imp in making some body lotion since I wouldn't wear this as a scent but love surrounding myself with this smell on evenings in - especially when I'm feeling in need of comfort or its that time of the month. -fallow deer

    Persephone

Mmmm!!! Out of the bottle, Persephone smells sharp and biting, with only a hint of rose. It was so sharp, (kind of like walking into a greenhouse full of geraniums) that I wasn't sure if I could wear it. However, dabbed on my wrists, the rose comes out and melds beautifully with the pomegranite, making this a really deep pink, luscious, wet scent. Its the perfect fruity floral I was looking for in Fae, without a hint of the mustiness that I got from Fae. I'll definately order a larger bottle of this for the summer! -fallow deer Edited to add: after a long hot day of wearing Persephone, I wanted to be surrounded by the smell and made the imp into a body spray - perfect!!
