A Mirror of Spring Pleasures on Kites (2016)
stellamaris replied to erinallana's topic in Lupercalia
Well, at first when I sniffed this bottle I thought, Blergh. This is sort of not good. A few weeks later however I am glad to report that this has become a lovely fresh strawberry scent, with the wine giving it backbone without making it too boozy. I don't get too much flower, just a bit. It's lovely and smells much more like real strawberry than candy or strawberry scent. Also it lasts forever. -
Clove discussion! including bitter clove and clove cigarettes

You can look forward to Clemence from The Carnival, it's still in the Act to come, and the clove is very prominent. -
Ooh this is so pretty! And sort of dusty, I think that must be the oakmoss. I can definitely pick out the copal, copal always smells a little metallic to me. Very unisex, I could wear it but it totally smells like a gorgeous men's fragrance. This one is a winner!

This is a very lush violet scent, darker for me than say Marie or Brusque Violet. I could totally see this as a lovely soft go to sleep scent.

This is really really pretty stuff. Flowery, deep, lovely. Also a green note that is very forest like.

Lyonesse is gorgeous. I always need to age it though, IMO it's not as good fresh, needs at least six months to really get that chewy heady thing going on.

I don't find Eat Me cloying. You might like Love's Philosophy which is a Luper limited edition out right now. One man's cloying is another mans perfect so it's hard to say if you will find it to be so.

Why hello! There are many non shady BPALs LOL. I would recommend Alice, Dorian, Leanan Sidhe, Whitechapel and The Head (very flowery) from the new Lupers. You can always start by just reading reviews and seeing if you get a feel for anything. Then order some imps and see what you like.

I got a chance to sample this and wow it's just glorious. I get mostly the lemony citrus which smells almost limey to me. Best citrus since Whitechapel IMO.

Just get it, or you will be sorry you didn't everytime you look at your dwindling bottle, like I do with Honeyed Frankincense.

Strawberry Sufganiyot is pretty awesome, but Kertasníkir is just amazing. Strawberry Moon. Gah. Bon Vivant, agreed about the fresh thing. Aged it's a little ???

This is so beautiful, orangey and a lovely complex patchouli scent. It lasts forever. need it.

This is a perfect Dragon's Blood scent. The DB in this reminds me very much of Dragon's Reverie, for which I am eternally grateful.

Lovely. Starts out with a very lush blast of something, which dries down to gorgeous glorious violet. Edit : Wow, this one is really a morpher. I can't even say the changes it goes through, but they are all gorgeous. Now after a month or so my dry down is an amazing powdery violet. I really may need a back up of this one. Sometimes I am amping a very dusty note, not sure what that is.

Taste the Cherries and Look at the Flowers Hair Gloss

This is so beautiful...I want to make the whole world smell like this... It's so fresh, but sweet at the same time. The cherry note is very sweet, and the flowers are so lush. It's perfect. -

Beautiful, a perfect slightly dark snow scent. Can't wait to wear this in the hot weather!
-
Oh gosh this is just lovely, and very long lasting on me. Smells sweet, dark and plummy, not a whole lot of violet, I'm hoping that makes an appearance at some point. Lovely.
-
Well, when I got this I don't know if I was just not in the mood or what, but I didn't really wear it. Suddenly I am completely obsessed with it. It is super sweet but somehow not over the top cloying. The strawberry note is just gorgeous and I don't even care that I have to reapply it because I am so in love. Oh hello, this will be going in the scent locket, duh...the cure for poofy amazing perfumes...

I have Snow at Noon and found it different from Skadi, that's probably not so helpful, but it does have mint.
-
Hm. That's challenging as you don't dig the snow note, but immediately I thought of Braving the Ice. It's foody but very different from regular retail vanilla things. Have you tried Gacela of the Dark Death? To me it's a resin heavy forrest kind of scent, very beautiful and cold. A definite pine note.
