I am learning about patience, so I have refrained from skin testing this yet, it came two days ago. In the bottle it smells like a light gorgeous Dragon's Blood mixture, will update with review shortly... OK, tested today. This is exactly what I wanted it to be, salty, flowery, mysterious Dragon's Blood and heaven. Not super light either, kind of medium strength and good throw.

The absolute darkest scents? dark, ghostly, haunting, scary,
stellamaris replied to Cinder's topic in Recommendations
I don't know if it's just mental, but Blood Countess makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I also had the strangest ever experience last year with Dracul, I got it as a Frimp from the Lab, but strangely (as everything from the Lab is bubble wrapped and nothing has ever broken before or since) the imp was broken in half, and as I (so I thought ) carefully picked it up the glass cut me, and yes, drew blood. -
I kind of love this one, I keep reaching for it again and again. It's not particularly feminine, but not so very Boy Cologne either. The notes are well blended and behave, even the leather is subtle, not Bash You Over the Head Leather, like for me in In the Forest. It's a little salty, resinous and mouth watering, medium strength. Love it. Yes. I've come to the realization that booze notes are fantastic for me, I was afraid of them as a BPAL newbie because I did not want to smell like McSorley's at 7AM (which I have smelled BTW ) but with the success of Perversion (which is all win for me, but so much sweeter than this), Kill Devil and The Obsidian Widow, I intend to belly up to the bar...

The Arrival at the Sabbath and Homage to the Devil
stellamaris replied to LittleGreyKitten's topic in The Salon
So, I ordered this purely on impulse, having never smelled it before, but all of the notes seemed like they were perfect. Right out of the mailbox, this is heavenly. First I smelled a black furry patchouli, like the one in Occupy Wall Street, and then the carnation seemed to arrive and take over when it dried down Will be testing more...may need back ups... -
I can hardly smell this, unlike Pink Lace, which I can smell from across the room. When I can smell it, it's very nice. One place I can smell it is on my clothes, faintly. OK so a few weeks later, I can smell this, but it is very faint. It is a wonderful smokey clovey light vanilla, with frankinscence, I don't know quite how to describe this, but the scent is very open, like it's wafting through an open window, coming in on a breeze. Surprisingly fresh. I like this, it's a nice soft scent.

on me In the Forest is total Prada new purse smell, quite amazing. It reminds me a bit of an old Chanel fragrance, Russian Leather.
-
I wore Dawn - Mother today, I thought it was a good Easter scent, although roses are summery and not spring, roses make me think of the numious beauty of Easter.

The Vine, yes it is De Vine for right now, light and sweet, very pear.
-
I love Gorgobble, but it smells nothing like cinnamon on me.
-
On me, Chimera is a sweet light sugary cinnamon, but Playful Wooden Mallets is a true spicy cinnamon, unlike any other BPAL cinnamon I have tried.

OMG Playful Wooden Mallets is the best best cinnamon ever...

Vampire Bride is the perfect green spring scent for me. I am also loving Haunted and yes, Playful Wooden Mallets, and her cousins Harlot and Chimera.

Just tried my imp of this, along with another BPAL pal and we both loved it. For me the wine note is very strong, like the one that I think is in Wanda. This is delicious, and mysterious, and it's going on the top of the Big Bottle list.

Foundation of Fortune
stellamaris replied to joseybird's topic in Prosperity, Success, and Good Fortune
I have used this for candle annointing for about six months now, and I feel that it does just what it says. As far as scent, it smells like wet dirt to me, in a good garden in the rain way. -
King Solomon's
stellamaris replied to filigree_shadow's topic in Prosperity, Success, and Good Fortune
I wear this pretty much every day, usually on my temples, so that King Solomon's wisdom might enter into my thick skull. It smells like Dragon's Blood to me, I love it, it's warm and kind of salty. -
We Need Your Lupercalia 2012 Recs! BPAL and BPTP

Well, I just made my last Luper order, and I did get a back up of Elizabeth of Bohemia, although I do love many of my Lupers, it's hard to say how they will age, so one bottle is enough for what I have, but Elizabeth of Bohemia is so specific and potent, I had to have another. And although the Shungas are up for another month, I got my four back ups of Playful Wooden Mallets. After The Heartbreak of No More Wiley Grasser, I wanted to be safe rather than sorry. -
This is a fantastic and rich rose. I have gone through two imps, and just ordered a big bottle. I love the sweet sharp rose in this.

I have to say, I think this is one of the Hidden BPAL Gems we've heard so much about. This is warm and gorgeous, salty, and spicy. Very golden. I have to admit, the first few times I opened the imp it smelled a little like ???cheese??? but getting past that and trying it was very worth it. Just added the Big Bottle to my order!

BPAL to represent each month, each season? Holidays, like Christmas?
stellamaris replied to taz19's topic in Recommendations
I can't wear the same scent every day, never mind one for a month. And it's not a BPAL thing, I was always like that. I have to be in the mood for a fragrance. -
In my Playful Wooden Mallets inspired cinnamon frenzy, I tried my Frimp of this. Yum. sweet delicious and yes, cinnamon. So good. Big bottle on the way, with the Mallets to keep it company.

I like this one very much, although I am suspicious that I smell like a really nice chair, or handbag, as it is very LEATHER. Quite LEATHER. It's strange, I get the LEATHER straight out of the gate, then it turns to pure soap for about 5 minutes, then back to LEATHER. Mind you, this is only like a day out of the mail, this one may become more than LEATHER. I do like it though, I mixed it up today with Peacock Queen, my own version of Whip. Which I also love. Next time I want to try it with Elizabeth of Bohemia.

Husband upon sniffing this said "Candy." Being a man of few words, not unusual, but this time exactly to the point. Candy. Delicious. I don't mind smelling like candy.

Playful Wooden Mallets. O. M. Gosh. So darn good. So cinnamon, but strangely not sweet. The Balcony. Rich, and very complex, long lasting. On The Death of His Mistress, so involved and good. -
Rose is first, then mostly lilac, but sweet wonderful lilac. Very foofy and pretty, like Chantilly lace. Sort of retro, but not Ol' Ladyesque.
