Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils
stellamaris replied to friendthegirl's topic in BPAL FAQs
sometimes I develop a spot that becomes irritated because it's where I apply over and over again, but I have had this reaction, strangely and thankfully not from my great love, Playful Wooden Mallets, but Harlot and Sin I am looking at you. This is what I recommend in addition to what has already been suggested. Put some A & D ointment on the spot before you put the oil on. Also try to avoid "thin skin" spots, go for the back of your hands, the tops of your arms, and like it's already been said, your hair. Scent lockets are also your friends, I agree. I love Maison! -
Everything I hoped it would be, snow and sweetness, with forest. I don't wear the snows this time of year, this one gets banked with the other snows for summer, it's so amazing in summer to have the coolness of the snow things.

OK then, this one is weeeeeeeeeeird. I was trying to decide if I liked it or hated it so I figured What the Heck and threw some on, and went off to Ikea to buy a bookcase. On the checkout line the lady behind me said "What is that wonderful smell? Is that your perfume?" and proceeded to tell me she hates perfume, but mine was amazing. Clearly I gave her an imp that was flying around my purse. What does this smell like? It's blue-green, watery, incensey, deep, interesting, strange...

I was lucky enough to be gifted a bottle of this, it's lovely. It reminds me very much of Wicked, the same intense jasmine, but a bit prettier and sweeter. Gorgeous, rich, dark.

So very in love with this scent. I wore it A LOT in summer, it's so fresh and awake. Yesterday I wore it for luck, to get my lights back on...seemed to have worked, and it was so refreshing besides.

Gorgeous stuff, very heady and rich, with the same caramel as Arrival at the Sabbath

This is gorgeous and perfect, incense lovers buy this right now. Quickly. It's got that same cold incense note as The Night Raven, but it's just a touch more complex.

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this. I sort of knew I would because as soon as I read reviews that say bleech cherry cough syrup I am like Buy! Buy it Now! Buy! because I know I am going to love it. This one does not disappoint. This is the same Black Cherry that I get from last years brilliant yule of the Trading Post, Black Cherry Amaretto Puddin. I love you Suck It. I layered Suck it with Bonfire Night, I was so in love with myself. Sigh... love this. love. yes.

Why do scents turn to baby powder on me?!
stellamaris replied to stardust's topic in Recommendations
Although you say you don't normally like Patchouli, you may want to give BPAL's a whirl, it is very different from the usual stuff. It's funny I went to a Sheep and Wool Festival last weeknend (maybe you didn't know Sheep had their own festivals ) and I smelled a lot of "normal" patchouli (on the humans that is). I immediately recognized it and could spot the difference right away, and trust me, I don't have the most refined sense of smell. I would advise you to as a previous poster already said, let the imps sit for a while. If you PM me with your address I would also be willing to send you some imps that I have, for free. The first hit is always free... -
got another one for you from the Weenies, Witch Dance. O>M>G> Also from Paranorman, Hippie Ghost.

Dia De Los Muertos, which is a weenie.

Using BPAL to negate the smell of death?
stellamaris replied to Ordo_ad_Chao's topic in Recommendations
Exhibit Hall Fatigue is heavy on mint, and it does not smell lovely perfumey, it's more of an aromatherapy type oil to me. -
Whoa, is that what this is ? I really love it, strangely I get something spicey cookie foodie out of this one. LOVE. And whoa, the bottle! First it's a gorgeous cobalt, and the sprayer thing works so much better!
-
Oooh I like this one...I only get the cherry at the top, and then it turns into very lush darkness. Alot of backbone from the vetivert, but not overpowering.

W. T. F. is this. Seriously. I swear an imp of this just materialized on my desk and it is so good. Really good. Really rich, sort of like Urd-lite to me. Need this, right away...
-
This is really good. It is light, I forget about the Ghost thing all the time too, but not so light as to be non existent. It is patchouli, but not the filthy OMG Let's Have a Love In variety, that I love so much BTW, but a nice light airy OK The Neighbors Know You Are a Hippie, But They Won't Sic Their Drug Sniffing Dogs On You one. As an aside, at Comic Con where I picked up this amazing gem, Puddin' himself told me he was so tired the other night he opened a bottle of this, inhaled and it was so good he wanted to take a big drink of it. Which could explain many Puddin' eccentricities, this is what happens when you drink the perfume kids, you get loopy... But seriously, I could see wanting to drink/inhale the entire bottle. Will try just wearing it first.

Wheeee so happy I have this years version, it's my third now I have the previous two years, 2010 I found to be cream, linen, and raisins, 2011 was straight cream and linen, and this years is cream, linen and lemons. All of them are good. I love Boo, not only is it wearable, and lasting, but it plays well with other sweet scents, like Perversion or Maison de Pain Epices, giving them a rounder quality.

Yes, surely snow note here, very frosty and delicious. I loved wearing these in the summer, they were so refreshing (the snowy ones). This one seems a little more complex.

This was the only Weenie that I had to do back ups of last year, so I was looking forward to trying this years version, I am not disappointed. The citrus is a little sharper in this one I think. Skin testing this today, and it is definitely Vampire Bride, but the same delicious lemony note I am getting from Boo and Sugar Skull is present in the wet stage, and dry it is a bit less dusty than last years. I love this scent, it's unique and strong but not over powering, it would be very wearable in situations where you don't want your perfume to say "oh hai, I am a crazy old hippie" like many of mine do... Can I just say I have been wearing this for days, and wow I love this Vampire Bride. I love last years slightly more, but that could just be familiarity. This ones seems a bit lighter but not like fade away quickly lighter, just a lighter mood if that makes sense. To me this is citrusy, flowery, dusty and gorgeousy. Perfect everyday scent, very uplifting. final verdict, this and Third Charm will be the only Weenie back ups this year. It's so weird after reading other reviews of this, my skin chemistry must be strange because this is so rich but not heavy and lovely on me, and it lasts forever, whereas most things fade in a couple of hours.

I was very happy to test this today at Comic Con, and then to buy a bottle. I do smell the smokey firey stuff, but there is also something more elegant underneath it, sort of incensey???? Could be sweet??? Whatever it is keeps it from being just a smokey firey thing, and turns it into an elegant wearable fragrance.

This is freaking amazing, I literally have been looking for this scent for years. I have a Jurlique face cream that smells like this, I love it so much. It's not overwhelming rose to me, it does smell lush and heady. Excellent.
-
I love this, it's lush and fresh and green, no dead decaying bleech...just all love and goodness and yes.
-
Ya Te Vo. Very green.

There's a free shipping mark? Color me clueless...

Yes, pass the incense over here. The Night Raven has the incense note that is in Third Charm, which is a current Weenie. I would recommend The Night Raven, my number one incense favorite. A different type of incense, warmer, more like Morocco is Al Azif. Also Lurid. The Night Raven is the most pure incense blend IMO.
