  1. + 1 What about Desert Places? Is it a white tea-centric blend?

    Dragon's Tears

I usually stay away from DB blends, because this note doesn't agree with me, except for Dragon's Musk. Dragon's Tears has a soapy vibe and it mingles very well with the incensey quality of the dragon's blood resin. A really good combo. Will wait to test it in warmer weather.

    Cherophobia

I was expecting a refreshing zesty citrus with zingy traces of pink pepper and a dusty orris base. IT'S NOT IT!!! It's such a bright and cheery scent, BUT unexpectedly SWEET. It's not like Lemon-scented sticky bat, it's a fuller citrus, but the sweetness is almost juicy-like. Over time it settles into citrus sugar and reminds me of a citronade (get it?) with floating sugar cubes. If you enjoy your citrus blends on the sweeter and juicier side, GET THIS!

    Lysithea

In the bottle i smell ozone, lemon, white musk, ambergris. It conjures an image of shimmer and coldness. But on my skin it fades to a hazy grey rose, bordering on soapy territory. I'll wait and test it during summertime. I want this to work so badly

    Die Nacht

Askel Waldemar Johannessen A haze of verbena, lemon rind, transparent amber, ectoplasmic green musk, ti leaf, and bamboo. Freshly applied, i smell lemon verbena , followed by green musk, which progressively makes its presence known. A refreshing zesty green musk blend for summer days.

    Death Adder

I'm reviewing the 2016 bottle, purchased in May. So, i let the oil age for 7 months. I get a sweet smoky vetiver rounded with a hint of coconut, but no SO in sight. I let it sit on my skin and the vetiver just lingers on and no coconut, opponax or vanilla showing up up. By this time it's a one-note party: VETIVER

    Rogue

Soft well-worn soft brown saddle leather. One of the few well-behaved leather blends on my skin

    Fire of Love

I smell lily of the valley from the get go and then it suddenly turns into bitter stinky garbage. Later it settles into a bitter green floral scent.

    Iulia, L'Artiste du Diable

This is a such a beautiful honey blend, very appropriate for warm weather. It is so well rounded and the honey/sugar cane/ white tea are the main players, while the mint and lemon balm show up shortly in the opening stage. On me it last 2 hours tops, but still it feels very comforting and delightful.

    A Shadow In The Elevator

I was looking forward to testing this oil and had high expectations. My final take on it is that i'm afraid i will have to let it age for a while. I get Vetiver and light patchouli with a veil of plum holding it altogether. The plum is not sweet, just an afterthought and the vetiver is the note that pops up on my skin the most, but it's not heavy or the smoky kind. I was hoping for a sweeter plum note and for more shimmery musk.

    Yellow Pumpkin Floss

In the bottle i smell the pumpking candyfloss, which reads like canned unsweetened and lightly spiced pumpkin filling. Later, the lemon sugar comes out and melds into the pumpkin floss to the point that it dominates the entire scent. It smells like a lighter and less sweet (but still sweet) Lemon scented Sticky Bat. And to top that off the pumpkin floss adds a vague foody/pastry element to it. Can't wait to test it in the summer

    Fae

From the start i get a dewy fresh green peach, but soon the oakmoss shows up and trumps everything. Smells like an oakmoss infested unripened green peach.

    Aunt Caroline's Joy Mojo

This reminds me of a fluffy pineapple meringue pie, with more focus on the delicious whipped cream.

    Mouse's Long and Sad Tale

When i got an imp of this oil, it smelled so sweet and beautiful, but had a chemical vibe about it, most likely because it was fresh. 5 months later, the sharp chemical vibe is still there, but the beautiful fragrant sweetness has faded and all i'm left with is play-doh sandalwood. *Bummed out face*

    Wanda

Upon application i smell apple, wine and rose, but as soon as it dries the leather comes out and reminds me of a quieter version of Highwayman. If you wanted your Highwayman to be less heady and gentler, get Wanda.

    Yipe!

Starts off smelling a bit like almond, but the creaminess takes over. The cream note is the same one as in Volcanos in Springtime. The final result is pretty girly, fluffy cherry cream. Reminds me vaguely of a lighter Bordello.

    Insects

I like opening up my bottle and inhale its fumes. That is just beyond words! My eyes just roll in rapture and i proceed inhaling again. The overall feel is as if something dark and purple is shimmering over a black veil. One of the rare instances when a blend can conjure up such a vivid image in my mind.

    Al Azif

Al Azif smells to me like a sweetened up version of Penitence, but not quite. I was testing it today, after letting the imp age for 4 months and i am happy to say that it smells to my nose A LOT like Feeding the Dead minus the beer. If you ran out of Feeding the Dead, try Al Azif. It's a perfect substitute!

    The Contrast

the vanilla infused benzoin smells is the star here. it gives off this toasted vibe and i swear i could detect the slightest hint of patchouli. It's light and very suitable for early october days.

    Devil's Claw

From the get go, it's smoky charred VETIVER! And it doesn't lose its potency. It would be great as a layering note though.

    Endymion

I figured that rosewood isn't exactly rose, but i was wrong. I get powdery rose on the drydown, which i hoped to avoid oh so much, but to no avail. Sadly, it's a miss for me.

    Maidens in Repose

Maidens in Repose lasted 2 hours tops on my skin. It's a Cinnamon-myrh-amber blend. I feel like the Lab has similar blends in their General Catalogue, so it's a pass for me.

    The Mirror

I get light clove with powdery white musk and very faint lilies. A clean oriental floral blend. Truly refined.

    Bunraku Theater

This reminds me vaguely of Anubis because of the hay. But what you get is a a pumpkin infused beeswax on a bed of hay.

    Fire Monkey

This is a juicy fruity sweet blend. Not getting any florals. It's euphoria incarnated.
