Disappointment ! All i get is ivy and bitter leaves. Off to swaps!

This is a dusty woody scent. I get the sweet black musk dustiness, the tobacco sweetness and the mahogany base. To me it reads as a dryer and dustier version of The Black Rider.

A dark, earthy ginger cider. Oh Gosh! Where do i start? Upon application, the visual memory and smell of grapes pomace hits me in the nose along with the fizzy ginger! As the oil slowly evaporates, a vanilla creme custard note develops joining the sparkly ginger, which looses its potency. It's an unexpected combo, but i can't say it's bad. Still unsual, but long-lasting!

Phoenix Steamworks
theredkilt replied to persianmouse's topic in Phoenix Steamworks & Research Facility
LOVE! It's fragrant honey and incense and some spices i can't discern. I never paid much attention to Phoenix Steamworks oils, but this one is just WOW! -
Freshly applied, i get the vetiver with hints of orange peeking out aggresively in a swirl of smoke. Fortunately, it dies down slowly and leaves way for the patchouli to shine. It all settles down into powdery mishmash. Pass!

Orchid, white musk, and bergamot wafting over juniper berries, with a gentle touch of soft, earthy patchouli. Clean floral musky scent. Borders on baby-wipes type of smell. I find it unisex, to be honest. Perfect for office wear.

A festive, dazzling blend, layered in mystery and intrigue. Patchouli, ambergris, carnation and orange blossom. A base of dark and charred patchouli with hints of spicy carnation and traces of orange blossom. More of a night scent and better worn in late fall.

Mata Hari blooms into a fragrant rose with jasmine around the edges and a biiiiiiiiiit of spice. One of the few scents where rose behaves on my skin, actually!

She Crushes for Dead Men Deadly Wine
theredkilt replied to The Poison Queen's topic in Limited Editions
I admit that i've never smelled something like this before. Posters above me claim that it smells like wine, but i don't agree with them. When wet it smells like crushed grape that is about to start fermenting with a good dose of incense and balm of Gilead. The end result is strangely hypnotic and has a fruity/ distnat bubblegum note and it reminds me of melted candle wax over pomegranate infused wine. -
Testing September Midnight was a journey! Upon application a very familiar smell greeted me, but for the love of GOD, i couldn't remember where i've smelled it before. Turns out it's Omen from GC. Yep, juniper-piney -musky smell and i though Oh, no! I was already at peace with the fact that the oil is a miss for me, but sniffing my wrist half an hour later, i got this fragrantic ozoney fresh tart whiff! It was to die for !!!!! I took a chance and ordered a bottle and it all worked out! Happy as a bee!!!

Having retested it, i have to say i like it a LOT more aged and it might dethrone Autumn Cider as my top apple scent. The sharpness/ tartness of the cranberry is less noticeable and gives way to crisp juicy apples.

I wonder how the Halloween 2013 labels look like

Fearful Pleasure is sadly a miss for me since the roasted apples accord turns instantly into potpourri / fall spice candle on my skin. Off to swaps!

I've been testing Pumpkin II for the last months and i can assuredly state if the Lab would have released this year Perversion in the Pumpkin Patch, it had smelt like Punpkin II. I get mainly a less boozy Perversion on the drydown and every time i wear it i get confused since the resemblance is uncanny.

After sniffing it on my wrist, i instantly thought it's Dorian without the sugar/ vanilla. Gorgeous!!!

Sparkly apple musk. I had high hopes for this scent. I was expecting sparkly apple musk, but in the end all i got was a sour vegetable smell. Off to swaps !!!

this oil has such a short life span. On my skin i get verbena and white tea, but i disappears in less that 1 hour
-
I get papyrus and little traces of musk, but in the end i'm left with a sourish papyrus smell. not my cup of tea, sadly.

Skuld is the type of Bpal scent that takes no prisoners. I usually order imp packs and very rarely i like or even love the GC scents i sample. Skuld is an exception - i remember i had a nose fatigue from sampling too many oils; i put on Skuld and let it dry and forgot about it. After 45 min i smelt my hand and DAMN, i got this killer musky honey floral whiff - I DIED!!!! The key to getting the perfect SKULD whiff is not to OVER-APPLY! just stroke the vial pipette against your skin once and gently and your good to go! SKULD - you're here to stay and if you behave, i might buy a bottle of you

Whitechapel smells like baby wipes or napkins. if compared to mainstream perfumery, it resembles down to a T Bvlgari - Blu Pour Homme. I can't stand both of them because of the napkins association.
-
this smells like yeasty dough! seriously i don't wanna smell like that!

Pumpkin III smells very pumpkiny to my nose and it has a subtle spicy warmness. It's not terribly spicy - i can feel the carnation and the faintest mandarin twang. Alas, it behaves nicely on my skin.
