    Queen Mab

I'm not usually one for florals, but I liked this one. I might even wear it on days when I feel particularly girly. This is a beautiful, complex, feminine scent. I had a hard time picking out individual notes. To me, it smelled like what department store perfumes *try* to smell like and fail.

    Chimera

I picked this out saturday because I could mostly smell the honeysuckle in the vial, and thought it would be something light and fresh to wear to yoga. [i usually wear Embalming Fluid to yoga. I put a touch in my cleavage, so the people around me don't have to smell me, but I get a whiff of something nice every time I go into the downward dog pose. Which the saturday morning instructor likes. a lot.] Anyway, I spend the entire hour wrinkling my nose thinking: "It's not anise, but it still smells licorice-y... I hate licorice. That isn't quite it, I think it's kinda like one of the spices I've permanently banished from my kitchen... wait, wait, I've got it! It smells like fennel!" Fennel isn't in the description. I think I'm going insane. However, I'd say this is a beautiful complex scent assuming you like everything that's in there... Unfortunately, I don't.

    Cathedral

I got this as an extra in my last order, and I decided to give it a shot, even though I didn't think I'd like it. In the vial, and when I first put it on, it had that same overwhelming sharp bitter tang as Sin and Damnation (all three smell almost identical in the vial to me - and whatever that sharp note is, I don't like it) I'm kind of rolling my eyes thinking, "all these people are insane, this stuff doesn't smell a thing like church incense, it smells like someone's driving nails up my nose!" It started mellowing once it warmed up on my wrist, and now, about 2 hours later, it finally smells kinda like church incense, it dries down nicer than Sin or Damnation, but I still don't think any of these suit me.

    Embalming Fluid

Quoting myself from when I first tried it: This one smells lovely, citrusy, fresh, and works well with my skin. I like this one in a similar way to the way I like O de Lancome. In fact, I bet the two would smell lovely together.

    Sin

Quoting myself from when I first ordered this: This one smelled lovely in the tube... I put it on, it smelled lovely at first... then it warmed up... There's no licorice/anise in the description... then why does my stupid messed up skin make this smell like freaking shoelace candy?

    Anne Bonny

Quoting myself from when I first ordered this: Holy crap, I smell amazing. I smell like a catholic church, an antique furniture store and a forest at night all at the same time. In a good way. Wow. I am blown away.

    Site update.

So I have one order that should be showing up today or tommorrow, one more on the way, and now, I've already picked out another $50 worth I will probably order today? This is an addiction. I am so hopeless. But I absolutely must have more... Maybe I'll eat the extra $5 of shipping and break my order out into two... one for the large bottles I *must* have right away, and give myself a few days to aggonize over which samples to order... Why don't I just sign my entire paycheck over to BPAL? ;-)

BPAL for fancy, elegant and formal occasions

Anne Bonny... on me this is the coolest, most distinctive scent ever

Best BPAL for gym, workout, sports, exercise?

I'd recommend Embalming Fluid... It's really light and fresh, and the citrus is a nice contrast to humid gym air.

    Black Widow

Too much rose, too much jasmine... The thing is, that I smell it and it smells good in that way that if someone else smelled like this, I'd say they smell good, but it's just not my style. I'm not a very floral kind of girl. But I still have to give it a big reccomendation for anyone who *does* like very rosy scents. My description when I first tried it: Yet another one that smells glorious in the tube... then I put it on and it started out really heavy and mysterious... and then dried down to smelling like soap. My wrists currently smell like a spicy version of Dial.

    Spellbound

This one isn't a hippy shop smell on me at all... More like roses and freshly chopped firewood? This is one of my favorite BPAL scents, it makes me feel confident, together and sexy, but not wanton, if that makes sense. This is one I wear on days when I really need to shine at work, because it makes me feel like I've got everything together, without feeling like I smell inapropriate for an office environment.

    Haunted

I love Haunted... this is one of my day to day scents. It's dark and rich, but still light enough to wear to the office without knocking people out in the elevator. When I first put it on, it smells really sexy, then it dries down to a subtle musk. It makes me feel very powerful, feminine and confident, but as if I don't have to try to be those things, it's just a given. This is good stuff, everyone should give it a try. Edited a year later to add: This one just gets sweeter and sweeter as it ages. It finally got to be too sweet for my taste, and other scents have replaced it for every day wear. But if you feel it's too dark, put it away for a few months, then try again.

    Madrid

I wanted to like this one... I hadn't tried it since I first got a sample of it a few months ago. I didn't like it then, but I thought I'd give it a 2nd try. I love orange scents, and I love cloves, but it's just too sweet for me. It smells like chewable orange vitamins mixed with clove scented bubble gum. I've given it about an hour to settle in so far, and it's just not getting any better. My skin chemistry just isn't working with this one.
